Is This Enough?

I was brought up in freedom. We were shown pictures of the little lockstep kids of the Soviet Union. WE saw the parades of Hitler Youth. Of late we’ve marveled at the productions of North Korean schoolkids singing paeans to Kim Jung Il. And through all these, we said to ourselves “We’re in America. We’d NEVER let this happen.”

That was then. This is now.

Let me make a point. Behind this is an adult. Actually a group of adults. And those adults think that THIS display is the way that American children should be raised.

I’ve studied the articles Westerners have written of trips into North Korea where the state religion is the veneration of Kim Jung Il and his father Kim Il Sung. You can find these articles on the Internet if you’re interested. Read some. You’ll come away understanding why this display in a PUBLIC school by children in the hands of a paid agent of the state are enough to send shivers up my spine.

Sometimes I feel like a Jew in 1935 Germany, thinking that surely these people will only go “so far, and no further.”

  2. We are living in interesting times. Keep in mind that it is school teachers that are behind this. A more inept, incompetent group of jagoffs does not exist. This is and already has backfired on this administration. Wait and see…

  5. But we can’t allow them to sing Christmas carols…..

    And the second one would not be allowed at all with the original lyrics.
    Its the Battle Hymn of the Republic.

    If I had found out that someone had my kid singing this, I would have…would have…Heck, I don’t know what, but, it would have been ugly for the school.

    My wife and I were watching an obscure Michael Caine film titled “The Statement” the other day. It’s about the hunt for the ex French Milice who rounded up Jews in Vichy France. In one scene where they were pulling people out of their homes my wife said, “It wouldn’t have been so easy if they had guns.”

    I make it a point to ask the grandsons what their teachers are telling them. They go to private school but they still have some teachers that are global warming alarmists. That leads to a discussion of the contribution of bovine flatulence to greenhouse gases.

I was just wondering if these kids knew the pledge – the old one that is – We ahd a meeting last night where all of us (adults) said the pledge after being read the history and meaning of each phrase. I will note none of us needed prompting to stand. Would these kids be anywhere close? this looks like a teaching problem to me. Public schools – the bane of our nation.

  9. I got an error message and couldn’t see the video, but I imagine I get the gist from the lyrics. Just think, our tax dollars paid some school teacher to write this.
    What? Did ACORN show up at this school and offer to teach music that day? Really, really glad my kids are pretty much grown, because if this had happened at their elementary school, heads would have rolled.
    It kills me that this crap is allowed to occur, when at the same time my youngest has been sent to Khandahar to try to convince the Obama administration that we need more troops in Afghanistan… trust me, those soldiers aren’t going to sing this song!!!
    The sheep need to stampede…
