But midway through, the glow fades. On “Decide”, a catchy amapiano-driven track sung primarily in Kikuyu, she urges a lover to make up their mind. By the time she reaches “Hypnotize”, the closing song, even a phone call from her partner feels like a nuisance. Eight months after the original, Four Letter Word (Deluxe) arrives with two new songs and two remixes, signalling an emotional reset. On “Gone”, a soothing Afropop duet with Canadian singer Preston Pablo, she grieves and reflects: “Why is it so hard, so hard to see that you’re gone?” “Colors”, a collaboration with Bensoul, finds her weary but shaking off heartbreak with bright, percussive energy. And as if to cement the vibes anew, there are Afro-house remixes of “Decide” and “Fight for You”. Together then, the Four Letter Word series is a jaunt through the spectrum of love, from the thrill of connection to the freedom of dancing the blues away.
