The 2011 Oscars Red Carpet

The Oscars were last night, as you probably know. My favorite part was not the Oscars themselves, but the Red Carpet before. Here’s some of the highlights.
Yes, Reese Witherspoon’s name is silly, but she looks good here.
Jennifer Lawrence goes for classic Hollywood glam here.
Amy Adams looks pretty in blue.

Hey everyone! I figured I would post about Selena Gomez, because she’s Disney’s next big star. I think Selena is the next Miley (hopefully without the train wreck ending).
Let’s look back on Selena’s style.
Selena arriving on the red carpet with now ex-BFF Demi Lovato. Love her hair!
Selena in a rather unfortunate dress. Like the one shoulder, don’t like the color or how baggy it is.
Love this purple dress! Only thing I don’t like is that it’s a little bit too short.

I like this dress, very slinky.

The Trapper Hat Trend

I have noticed a budding trend: Trapper Hats. These hats are the ones with ear flaps, usually some (faux) fur and a pom pom on top. I love them!
Merry Christmas!

Culture
Posted on: March 8, 2010
Which culture interests you? Does a particular one influence your style? Yes. I love the play Les Miserables, which is now off Broadway. Les Mis has stirred my interest in French culture.
This is the French flag. In the 2010 Winter Olympics, the French won 11 medals.
Other countries have different trends. That’s why Vogue is published in so many different countries: to follow the trends.
While in Vermont, I was changing through the stations on the radio, as my favorites (Z100 and Q102) were out of tune. I found a station that sounded like the music I would usually listen to, so absentmindedly listened to it. Only when the DJ started talking did I realize it was in French. Oops, I had been listening to French pop music! It sounds the same as US pop music. So the trends are probably basically the same.

DON’T… Grocery store editon

Ah, the grocery store. We all have to go there, but some people (aka, moi) go not only for their long lists of food, but to check out what people think looks “cool”. I saw 3 notables:
1. Double offender: she was wearing a mini with knee-high boots, he was wearing his ‘pants on the ground’. Sweetie, just because you dress badly doesn’t mean your boyfriend has to copy your style.
2. Pink with purple. Yes, they’re both great colors, but not together.
3. Exercise tights, with tube socks. Tube socks are wrong. Especially with skin tight leggings.
Fakes

- Fake blondes. Bleaching your hair is so 2009. Try highlights instead!
- Liars. Ugh, just tell the truth!
- Knockoffs. When everything you wear is Frauda and Roach, you’ve got a problem.
So really, just go for the real you. Don’t be a copycat. For example, say you’re in love with Beyonce‘s style. But she wears a really unflattering, ugly dress. Do you wear it? No! It’s nice to have a fashion icon, but have your own style, influenced by that icon’s style.
Do I have a style icon? Not really. I like to look at what people are wearing, and I’m impressed by an array of people, such as Lea Michele and Emma Watson, but I’m not following their every style move.
Speaking of stars, go and comment on the Celeb Style page! I want to know your opinion.

“What IS fashion, anyway?”
Posted on: February 21, 2010
This post is dedicated to my dear friend, A.M. She is always asking, “what is fashion, and why do you like it so much?”
So, A, I have your answers.
What is fashion? I think that fashion is knowing how to dress well, what looks right on yourself (and others), and having a general knowledge of trends. Having the ability to dress other people is a skill that is very valuable.
Why do you like it so much? I really like to comment on what people wear, and tell them how to dress, but I’m not really sure why I like it. I guess I just enjoy clothes and shopping, which is basically fashion!

Snow

Here it is snowing, again.
Is it bad to wear the same warm, cozy, comfy sweater every other day just because it is your favorite? NO! As long as you aren’t seeing the same people, it’s fine.
I have a rule: never wear the same outfit twice in one week. Ammendment: if you are going to wear it twice, don’t wear it to the same place you wore it last.
So put on your waterproof boots, cozy sweaters, and snowpants (which are horribly unflattering) and go and shovel some snow!

Casual to work attire

New poll! Check it out!
Think to when you lounge around at home. Ahh. All comfy and warm in your… sweats. How unfashionable! At least wear light wash jeans. Please!
After a relaxing weekend, you get to Monday. Oh NO. WHAT DO I WEAR?!
First, lay out your outfits the day before. Then you can just get up, get dressed, and drive off. Without panic.
Second, try to pick tops that you could easily wear to dinner, with the addition of a scarf or different shoes.
Third, always have a spare pair of pants or heels in the car so you can change if you want to go the grocery store or Blockbuster and not look insanely over dressed.
Just keep
