Joyride Artist Trading Cards

I recently participated in an ATC swap in The Cat's Pajamas forum over at Splitcoaststampers.  The only requirement was to use The Cat's Pajamas stamps/dies. I chose to use a summer roadtrip theme featuring the image from the Joyride stamp set. My set has no two alike although there are common elements on all of them. In addition to the same primary image I included either a tag shape cut with the Luggage Tags CutUps or the notebook edge from the Toppers CutUps, dry embossing, hot summer colors from the Simple Stories Sn@p Color Vibe 6x6 pad, at least two embellishments (sequins/pearls/jewels) and sentiments and/or icons.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamps and CutUps, Simple Stories dp, Studio Calico sequins, Kaisercraft jewels and pearls, May Arts ribbon, PTI buttons, Copic Markers
Copics: Bunny-E50, E51, E53; Scooters/Scarves-YR30, YR31, Y35, N1, N3, N5, B0000, B000, B01, YR12, YR14, YR16

ATC's with Tags (July TCP Challenge)

***This is my third post for today. Please scroll down for Sweet November and C.C. Designs projects***

It's a new month and that means a new TCP challenge which is to use a handmade tag on your project.

I am double dipping somewhat with my project today. I am participating in an ATC swap in The Cat's Pajamas forum over at Splitcoaststampers so I used this challenge to try to create a prototype. I came up with three different designs using various stamps and papers. The centerpiece of each one is a tag cut with The Cat's Pajamas Luggage Tags and I used the What's Mew, Joyride, Summer Sentiments and Reel Expert stamp sets for the images. Unfortunately, I have not decided which prototype to use.

U R Fun TACHE Tic (ATC)

A quick little Monday morning post for you today. I created this ATC for a challenge from one of our devoted TCP fans on The Cat's Pajamas forum at Splitcoaststampers. I went with a "valentine-ish" theme using The Mustache Set and one of the coordinating dies from the Mustaches CutUps. I paired them up with some sweet Mustache Love paper from the Bella Blvd Kiss Me collection, adding a layered heart cut with the TCP Heart Trio. A couple of pearls and the sentiment stamped with Fresh Ink Pink Lemonade finished it up.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamp and CutUps, Bella Blvd dp, Doodlebug rub-ons, Kaisercraft pearls, Fresh Ink

That's it for today. Have a happy Monday! We're on pins and needles here waiting on the Alabama-Notre Dame game tonight. Roll Tide!

A Little Bit of Fall Magic

Today's project is a set of ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) which feature the Sweet November A Little Bit of Magic set of tiny fairies. You might remember these from this summer here and here. I really wanted to do these in a fall theme too and ATCs seemed a perfect way to use all nine of them.

I first stamped them and then drew in some long sleeves more befitting of the fall weather with my Copic Multi-liner pen. Since I had nine girls to color, I limited my hair colors to blond, brown or red as well as the clothing to three color schemes which matched the Simple Stories Harvest Lane patterned paper. Once colored with Copics, I fussy cut them all out. To make the ATCs I used a kraft base and a dark brown mat. Each ATC centered around one of the mini flash cards from the 6x6 pad. Other common elements include a paper button, a heart shape and either a mini doily or a tree and of course one of the super cute teeny tiny fairies. If you look close you will find a couple of them with an acorn cut with the C.C. Designs Acorn Cutters set.

Here are the individual photos:

You will notice no bulk on these ATCs for a good reason. I am giving these away and wanted them to fit in a regular mailing envelope requiring no extra postage. I am offering these to the first nine people who email me at nthom100(at)gmail(dot)com. Please specify a first and second choice and I will try my best to get one of those to you if still available. (These are all gone). Otherwise I will substitute. International readers are welcome to participate. When you make your request, also include your name and address. Here is a numbered version of the ATCs to assist you in your selection:

From Tiny Acorns Grow

My blog has been full blast into Christmas/Winter creations but I wanted to share one more fall related project with you today. I belong to an ATC (Artist Trading Card) group who trade on a monthly basis and the November theme was fall/Thanksgiving.

Trees have a special meaning around here since the blast of tornadoes blew through our state back in April, killing 250 people. It seemed like tornadoes were literally everywhere throughout the day including the F1 that hit our neighborhood around 4:30 that morning. Luckily we were ok and our house was virtually unscathed except for a few minor things. Others weren't so lucky so I'm not complaining. However, I can't help but mourn the loss of many of our backyard trees. I'm especially reminded of it now that the leaves have fallen and I am staring into the houses across the way. We have several upturned with gigantic roots the size of trucks or even bigger. We cleaned out some back there but really couldn't afford to have those taken away. So that is yet another constant reminder. And it's not just us, it's everywhere. But then again, when I see an empty lot where a house use to be or a house that survived but still has one of those darn blue tarps on it, I count my blessings all over again. We drove through my hometown of Cullman, AL on Thanksgiving day and my husband asked me, if you closed your eyes and someone popped you down in the middle of this area, would you know where you were? I had to say no, that I would not. It was that unrecognizable. But I digress...

I used an older Verve set "Tall Oaks" and stamped the acorn onto patterned paper and then cut out with a circle Nestie. The matching sentiment was stamped onto kraft cardstock trimmed with a Fiskars border punch. The leaves were cut using the Taylored Expressions Leafy Branch die. The circle stamped pieced and the leaves were attached with dimensional dots to give them some lift. All paper was from the W R Memory Keepers Autumn Splendor pad.

Products: Verve stamps, W R Memory Keepers dp, Taylored Expressions die, PTI button, TCP Linen Thread, Fiskars border punch, Spellbinders Nestabilities

Unfortunately this was my last set with this fun swap group as I have had difficulty finding the time for it. I have also discovered that I prefer to swap ATCs one-on-one or with an occasional swap rather than on a regular basis.

I'll see you back tomorrows with the first of the Sweet November previews.

Halloween ATC's

Good morning. I hope you are having a nice weekend. I'm sharing the last of my 2011 Halloween related projects today. I belong to an ATC (Artist Trading Card) group who trade on a monthly basis and the October theme was Halloween. I started out by stamping, coloring and cutting out the Sweet November Mumford image. I crisscrossed some bandaging gauze around the background panel two times and then adhered a couple of sets of googly eyes for some additional spookiness. All the patterned paper is from the My Mind's Eye Mischievous collection.

Products: Sweet November stamp, My Mind's Eye dp, Copic Markers

Copics: Skin-E0000, E000, E01, E11, R20; Gauze-W1, E50, C1

I'll see you back here tomorrow with some brand new Sweet November previews.

ATCs - Cooking/Food Theme

I recently joined an ATC (Artist Trading Card) group who trade on a monthly basis. The September theme was Cooking/Food. I started out by stamping, coloring and cutting out the My Favorite Things al la mode Time to Celebrate image. I added some Ranger Stickles for some sparkly icing and then relied on the uber cute and vibrant Doodlebug Bon Appetit paper and stickers collection for the rest of the design.

Products: My Favorite Things stamp, Doodlebug dp and stickers, Ranger Stickles, Copic Markers

Copics: Skin-E000, E00, E11; Hair-E33, E55, E57; Capris-R22, R24, R27; Tee/Shoes-BG70, BG72; Cake/Plate-B0000, Y21, Y23, Y35, YG21, YG23

I made an extra one for the hostess. I wanted it to be the same theme but yet be different. I used the My Favorite Things Flappers in the Kitchen as my focal point and then added a punched silverware piece, using the reverse rather than the actual punches. I've had that All Night Media punch in my stash for a very long time. Actually, I picked it up when I was working on a contract in New York City several years ago. There was this great stamp store The Ink Pad in the Chelsea area that I visited at least once a month. It's nice to know that I'm still using my purchases from there years later.

Products: My Favorite Things stamp, My Mind's Eye dp, All Night Media punch, Martha Stewart border punch, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Copic Markers

ATCs - Make Believe/Fantasy

I recently joined an ATC (Artist Trading Card) group who trade on a monthly basis. The August theme was Make Believe/Fantasy. I chose to use Josie from the Sweet November Fairwee collection. I had already created a set using the whole Fairwee collection so I decided to replicate one from that group rather than reinventing the wheel. I used different colors/patterned paper but the design was basically the same.

Products: Sweet November stamp, My Favorite Things Die-namics, The Cat's Pajamas CutUps, My Mind's Eye, Basic Grey and Magnolia dp, Copic Markers

Copics: Skin-E0000, E00, E11, R20; Hair-E50, E51, E53, E55; Wings-Y21, Y23, Y26; Skirt/Shoes-E30, E32, E35; Shadows-C00

Don't forget about The Cat's Pajamas CutUps giveaway. You can see the details on this post

I made a set of ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) using the adorable Sweet November Fairwees collection released in August. These tiny little girls are perfect for the 2.5 x 3.5 ATC size. After stamping and coloring with Copic markers, I cut them out and then built a fun scene for each of them using patterned paper and diecuts

A Swanky Blog Hop

Welcome to the Swanky Blog Hop! I hope you arrived here from Megan's blog. If not, head on over to Julie's Stampin with Julie blog to start at the beginning.

A group of The Cat's Pajamas fans and designers recently participated in an ATC (Artist Trading Card) swap over in the The Cat's Pajamas forum at Split Coast Stampers. Part of the fun in making these is the challenge of the canvas size which is 2.5x3.5 inches. My hardest decision was how to narrow it down to which stamp I wanted to use. I finally decided on an oldie but goodie, Big Sprinkle. I stamped her onto a simple patterned paper background with Nick Bantock Lamp Black ink and then heat embossed with Black Diamonds embossing powder making Sprinkle all sparkly. I colored in the nose pink and the eyes a teal blue with Copic Markers. The basic design elements and color scheme were the same although I moved the Heart Trio CutUps around a bit and varied the papers. I finished them off with a felt button cut with the Flower Button CutUps and then tied with twine. All the paper came from my bag of scraps.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamp and CutUps; PTI cs and felt, Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Divine Twine, Copic Markers

I also made an extra one for our sweet hostess Linda. The set is What a Blast and I stamped it onto Copics Express-It blending cardstock, eliminating the pinwheel portion of the image. I colored with Copic markers, paper pieced the belly portion and then cut out. I used the Flower Button CutUps to replace the pinwheel image in order to add texture.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamp and CutUps; My Mind's Eye dp, PTI cs, buttons and felt, Copic markers

Copics: E50, E51, E53, E55, B01

Now please head on over to Julie's Kreative Jewels blog to see her fabulous ATC.
