MONA... the Museum of Old and New Art.

MONA.... The Museum of Old and New Art...in Hobart...Finally we were able to go and explore it this weekend... and guess what ???? to residents of Tasmania ..we only had to show our drivers licence and it was FREE...
The lady at the desk was funny and gorgeous to us..She said " have you been to visit the museum before"..to which we answered it was our first time.....she grasped the small microphone on her lapel and whispered to an unknown ear somewhere in the museum..."We have two virgins entering the catacombs ..repeat two virgins entering the catacombs"..everyone behind us laughed in the line..
Come with us on the tour ...
Now "Himself" was not really impressed with the exhibits but the architecture and the feat of engineering it took to create this magnificent underground museum...

 Here we are about to go in ...a huge highly polished metal mirror to the side of the entrance ...

 Down to the bowels of earth in a circular glass lift (or you could still walk down all the three flights of stairs to get there...this massive lighted sandstone wall was screened by a crystal waterfall which displayed words in different sequences...just musical splashing and tinkling of water ..very peaceful

 this massive wall of framed pastel drawings, displayed in tones so that when you stepped far back you could see a huge snake in the lighter hues ..the pastel drawings seemed to be of Aboriginal nature ...
 on the chair right beside me while i was looking at the hidden snake in the pastel drawings..was this pasta plate filled with water and in there two lonely little goldfish swimming about the knife that was immersed in the water...i thought of how there was not enough food there to feed a baby kitten ...the mind thinks weird things!!!!
 Lots of hidden reflective areas behind huge heavy black curtains...this room had three screens with three women telling their stories ...all different ..but at the same time...confusion in the sympathetic way...
 THE OLD OF THE MUSEUM...... this sarcophagus which has a really mummy in it...the detail and the amazing colors ..i wanted to stand there for ages just saturating my eyeballs ..love Egyptian relics....

 This is the most gorgeous piece of crystal i have seen ..all the pieces are cut into small matchbox size crystals which are brick staked in a cylindrical tower...the light reflecting prisms and fractured light ...so beautiful...it was about half a metre diameter and about a metre high...
 just to show you the sandstone walls ..we were down in the bowels of a cliff...
 one of the very unusual pieces of Animalalia ...insects, creatures from the sea and the land ...bizarre and every angle there was something else to see..
 Every little boys dream...a cement truck on the back of a semi trailer...all made of iron lace work....
 details..details ...details.....
 the roof of the chapel..open air chapel....
 check out the background ...the famous Mt Wellington shrouded in snow clouds ..it snowed that night and the next day ...
up the hill looking for a house that "Himself" designed ...and the sun was focused on the very place we had just been ...the MONA MUSEUM OF OLD AND NEW ART....

Post Script...there were a lot of confronting pieces of Art in this museum...but what is ART????
everyone has their own idea of this and so if you totally love modern art ..this is for you ..but like "Himself"..well he appreciated the architecture and the effort it took to create the catacombs to house this art....

RIP our Beautiful Beattie Girl

our Beautiful Beattie Girl left us tonight ..she fought so bravely to stay with us but the wear and tare of old age had finally caught up with this gentle beautiful lady who was our constant companion for over 12 years ..{she came to live with us from NSW when she was two years old and heavily pregnant with her 9 puppies...Her family David and Chelsea and the girls moved to live in the Unites Sates of America for 4 years and could not take her with them ..so she flew down to Tasmania to live with us ..we are so glad she did.....}

This is just a few photos of you life's timeline...

You were a great mum but had to put up with a lot from those 9 very hungry puppies which you raised to beautiful healthy little pups ..they all went to great homes all over the state of Tasmania

 here you are with that beautiful little family of newborn puppies ..they were gorgeous and stole our hearts ...
 this little lady spent a lot of time with you and if she ate it ..then so did you Beattie ...
 You often had to move over in your basket to let this little lady get in with you and you didnt mind one little bit
 and left over toast was always on the menu when this little man came to stay at Nanna and Poppy's house
 You always became the watch dog when your little people were around ..You ADORED THE KIDS
 But the beach was where you were the happiest ..and this little lady loved to run in the water with you....
 but your true love was "Himself" ..you never was far from his side and went everywhere in the old ute with him...

 always in the water swimming and playing..we could almost swear you were smiling when you were in the water....
 You have gone to be with Casey now ....I guess that you two girls will be playing and swimming free of pain in that place that all much loved pets go when they have to leave their homes here on earth ....
 of course there are those four legged friends who are going to miss you too...
 we will miss that huffing and puffing and that smile ...
 But i wont miss all that fur coat you used to shed on my floor though ...(maybe i will because it means that you are not here any more ...)
 you loved a good roll and you could almost sing while you did it ....
 not far from your master's legs ... and always looking for him when he was out of sight...and later in your life when you no longer could hear ...your nose was always in the air smelling for his scent....
{ when you cant swim to have a bath ..the wheel barrow is next best thing..but you  didn't really like it ..can you tell?...}
Oh how we miss you already our beautiful girl...we love you very much and we know you loved us ....Rest in Peace with no more pain....we will forever remember your unconditional love for us all....

Tomorrow...16th February 2015 is the day i will visit you again as i have done many times over the last year... .

But Sadly this last year has been a year of visiting you in your final resting place though.....

Now i will have only beautiful memories of the special times we have enjoyed....

One whole year has passed and we remember your smile and your love of life..the places we went together..

All the adventures we had.. mostly just window shopping in all the clothes shops ..
You would always say....{"how can they ask that much for this top ..lets go to The Op shop !!!!"}

our afternoon teas to sit in the Water Garden and enjoy the fountain...the fresh air and the sun you loved so much...

the cream cakes we ate...{and you always had extra cream...} all while we were people watching {another of your favourite things to do}

the girly days just hanging out painting nails...and having our lunch under the umbrella in the courtyard at Glenara...

the road trips to somewhere, anywhere we hadn't been before...

the magazines we read over and over and eewwwed and arrred over the "frocks" and the movie stars and celebrities... you knew just what was happening in all their lives...

All sweet and lasting memories of you our darling Auntie "Fairy Floss"

with your nephew Kelvin, when we found your Grandfathers headstone... you were excited that we had found it and wanted to see it for yourself...
It did not matter to you that is was raining ..you were out enjoying the fountains at the Water Gardens...

Your own professional photo shoot by your famous niece Chelsea Parsons Photography... you truly are a STAR
How you loved Miss Rosie's company and chatter..you were always interested in everything she wanted to tell you....
 And her cuddles ..she adored your stories and looking at your photos..
now our memories are all we have ..we are so blessed to have had you in our lives...

The Bounty of the Harvest

"I have a little Peach tree and an apple tree and a nectarine tree and a pear tree....."

and we still have those four trees plus an \Apricot which had three apricots and it was only its first year.....and a few more miniature trees that are bearing fruit and they are only two year old..they are growing in 1/2 wine barrel tubs  ..we love spending time in our garden now ....especially when we have the fruit to pick...

 our little peach tree gave us about 8 peaches this size this year ..still a couple left on there to pick ...
 we have four different varieties of strawberries growing in a tub too ..so the fruit has been there all through from the beginning of summer...
 our little nectarine tree is about to fully ripen ..cant wait ..it is loaded..

 our little pear tree has a bit of pear slug on the leaves so it is looking a bit sad ..but we are washing it down with soapy water .....NO chemicals in this garden thank you ...it is loaded this year too ..another month and we will be eating yummy pears...
 the other peach tree is bearing as well..not quite ready yet ...but they have the blush of summer ripening peaches and the smell is divine ...
 the little green house is giving us tomatoes enough for daily use ..plus yummy basil and the cucumbers are coming on nicely....
 the veggies are thriving..green beans and butter beans ...zucchini radish beetroot, capsicums and spinach and the beery bushes have just finished except for our silvanberry which is giving us a handful every day ...
 Last but never least is this topiary apple tree which is loaded and will be ready in another month or so...

How we love our little Garden of Eden and all the produce we can harvest from just a suburban backyard ..

How does your garden grow????
