In the silence of night, whispers take flight, Shadows of tomorrow, lost out of sight. A light on the horizon, but hope fades away, Time ticks softly as the void starts to sway. The rain falls cold, like tears carved from stone, Searching for answers, yet forever alone. The wall of silence, our hearts turned to bone, A last breath escapes, turning dust into moan. Cities are burning, the sky’s draped in gray, Echoes of screaming, no refuge, no way. A final promise, in the fog it will play, We dance in the chaos, like ghosts gone astray.

about

After twenty years since my last album, I'm thrilled to present EVERYTHING THAT IS NOT COUNTED WILL BE LOST. The record emerged from hours of spontaneous improvisations with various musical machine constellations, where I captured "happy accidents" that evolved into carefully structured arrangements.

Several remarkable artists collaborated to shape this album. STURM (Jan Sturm) contributed his distinctive touch to "Fragments of Light," while "We Dance in the Chaos" emerged from a collaboration with Landobe (Marco Heinle) and features Patrick Siegfried Zimmer's powerful vocals. Luca di Mira enriched the album with his production skills, cello arrangements, and synth textures, while Johannes Schardt's guitar work infused the sound with the raw, post-rock energy I had envisioned.

My goal with this album was to take listeners on a journey through diverse sonic landscapes. It reflects our complex times, where experimental ambient soundscapes merge with heavy guitars and minimal techno pulses—and where dancing in the chaos feels like a fitting response. I hope this album resonates with you as deeply as it does with me.

Please note: Track 7 and 10 are digital only.

Music is not about music technology. Nevertheless, this record wouldn’t have been possible without the following tools and instruments, from analog to digital. I’d love to thank everyone involved in making them from the bottom of my heart.

You’ll hear a lot of Fors instruments throughout the record, mainly Glänta and Chiral, which I’d call my favourite digital synths. Fors Opal also played a major role in sequencing. In addition, I love everything Felt is making and used their instruments in multiple tracks as well. You can also hear my hardware machines here and there – the Soma Pulsar-23, the Moog Grandmother, an old MFB Bass Synth, as well as Make Noise Strega, another favourite of mine. I’ve been using Ableton Live and, in particular, their Max for Live platform since forever, and I love how inspiring and convenient their digital audio workstation has become over the years.

Luca used a Dave Smith Pro 2, an ARP 2600, a Fender Rhodes, his cello, and a Gong Amp. Jan improvised within the box with a few abandoned Camel Audio patches. Marco used a digital representation of the Buchla Music Easel. Johannes played a Fender Jazzmaster and a self-built baritone guitar through a Revv D20 amp.
