A look back at NeurIPS 2025. Across the week, our teams shared how they approach research and engineering in live markets: working with non-stationary data, building systems that adapt as conditions change, and turning quantitative ideas into production outcomes. 2025 was a year defined by meaningful conversations between our teams and the broader technology community. Those interactions with partners, researchers, and engineers pushed our thinking and helped shape where we are heading. We spent time with groups driving advances in data platforms, agentic AI, quantum computing, and next-generation hardware. Visits with IBM, AMD, and Dell helped us refine where we're headed in compute and systems. Our trial with SQC opened up promising questions in quantum-ML. And our continued work with Databricks and Cursor influenced how we approach research and engineering across the firm. We also reconnected with the broader tech community. Conferences like Grace Hopper, CppCon, and NeurIPS sparked valuable discussions, and the in-office sessions we hosted in Sydney, Chicago, Austin, London, and Amsterdam gave us a chance to meet local engineers working on equally tough problems. Through our strategic investment team, we backed technologies we believe will matter over the long run, while learning from leaders such as Royal Hansen, Melissa Goldman, and Dr. Lisa Su, whose perspectives were incredibly insightful. Thank you to everyone who challenged, shaped, and shared with us this year. 2025 set a strong foundation for what we’re building in 2026 and beyond. What do Python concurrency models and restaurant kitchens have in common? Turns out, more than you'd think. At EuroPython, Senior Software Engineer Samet Yaslan used a three-kitchen analogy to explore what CPython's new optional free-threading build means for developers and the role of async programming. Watch the talk or read the full breakdown for insights into the practical use cases and tradeoffs between sync, async and threading in Python’s evolving concurrency landscape: https://bit.ly/44j0w3g #EuroPython2025 #CPython

Our Opticode Challenge at NeurIPS had an average top-ten solve time of 6.27 minutes. Three participants pushed well past that, reverse-engineering the puzzle, building solvers and posting times of 1:50, 2:08 and 4:50. Impressive work from all three! #NeurIPS2025

Temporary setups that stick around are annoying at small scale and risky when you’re managing thousands of bare-metal machines. At PyladiesCon, Leanne Fok, Platform Infrastructure Engineer from our Amsterdam office, will share how the team built an Infrastructure as Code platform for hardware that doesn’t act like the cloud, and the lessons learned from making it reliable. The talk is in the Main Stream on December 6 from 08:55 to 09:10pm UTC. Registration is still open for engineers interested in predictable, large-scale systems: https://bit.ly/4oBgwok #Python #PyLadiesCon #Infrastructure

Tomorrow, we’re sitting down with engineers from Anaconda, Inc. and Meta at #PyLadiesCon for a practical look at the job market: how teams are evaluating Python skills today, which roles are shifting fastest and what engineers can expect as AI reshapes day-to-day workflows. 📍 Friday, December 5 at 20:10 UTC on the Main Stream Registration is still open for this free online event.
