The Communities Delegation to the Global Fund Board is seeking new members from communities living with HIV, TB and malaria. Applications are particularly encouraged from Latin America & the Caribbean, West & Central Africa, Eastern Europe & Central Asia, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific. This is an opportunity for community representatives to bring their experiences, priorities and perspectives into global decision-making at the Global Fund. Last week, regional stakeholders came together for the SADC Secretariat Meeting of SRHR & Gender Managers and HIV/SRHR MERL & HIS Experts to review progress, strengthen accountability, and advance implementation of the SADC SRHR Strategy 2019–2030. Representing Y+ Global, Faith Thipe, Programme Officer for the UNITED! Movement, joined the discussions to ensure that the needs, priorities and realities of young people were brought to the forefront of the regional SRHR agenda. The message was clear: regional commitments must translate into nationally owned, financed and measurable action with young people meaningfully involved in shaping that action. Now, the focus shifts to implementation, accountability and ensuring these efforts deliver better SRHR outcomes across the region.

I am deeply honoured to be selected as part of the new GFAN Speakers Bureau. This is meaningful to me not only as the Executive Director of LIGHTHOUSE SOCIAL ENTERPRISE VIETNAM and through my work with Y+ Global, but also because of my own journey. I was once a shy little gay boy from a small village in Viet Nam, growing up with stigma, fear, and uncertainty. HIV was not an abstract issue. It was connected to silence, shame, risk, and the daily reality of communities who were too often left behind. Engaging in the Global Fund-supported response truly changed my life. It connected me to services, knowledge, community, and leadership. It helped me understand that people most affected by HIV, TB, and malaria should not only be beneficiaries of programs, we should be part of shaping the response. That journey brought me from fear to advocacy, from silence to leadership, and from a small village to spaces where I can speak for community voices on the ground. I am proud to bring a Viet Nam and Asia community perspective to the GFAN Speakers Bureau, and to continue advocating for a fully funded, community-centred Global Fund. 50+ young leaders. Two LEAP Academy cohorts. One growing network. Young leaders from across West and Central Africa are coming together for the LEAP Graduates’ Learning Exchange to share lessons, strengthen advocacy skills, build connections and shape what comes next. Working at the intersections of health, human rights and advocacy, they are bringing the knowledge, networks and leadership skills needed to drive meaningful change. The learning continues. The network grows. The action moves forward.

We’re celebrating 10 years of the READY Movement! This International Youth Day, we’re celebrating a decade of young people building HIV and SRHR movements, demanding better health and rights, and driving change. From youth-led advocacy to governments integrating young peer supporters into national health systems, the READY Movement has helped shift what meaningful youth leadership can look like. But our work is not done. We’re excited for a new phase of youth programming that continues to centre youth voices, grows a new generation of leaders, and supports young people to thrive.
