The future of freshwater is being invented on Norwegian shores. We’ve signed an agreement with Norway’s Alver Municipality to explore bringing Flocean's subsea desalination technology to both industrial and consumer customers throughout the region. This partnership builds on 12 months of successful testing at Mongstad Industrial Park, Norway's largest offshore supply base, located in Alver kommune. Now we're taking the next step: assessing how our technology can integrate into existing municipal water infrastructure to help address the global freshwater crisis.

Big news at Flocean. We’ve extended our Series A to $22.5M, welcoming Xylem as a strategic investor alongside our existing and new partners. Their global expertise will help accelerate subsea desalination in the regions that need new freshwater supply most. This funding supports the launch of Flocean One in 2026 — the world’s first commercial subsea desalination plant — and expands our commercial projects across Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, and island nations. As global freshwater demand rises, subsea desalination offers a faster, lower-cost, lower-impact way to create new supply. We’re proud to be building it. Grateful to TIME for naming Flocean a Best Invention of 2025 — and for shining a light on how we can fix the global water scarcity crisis. Traditional land-based desalination is part of the solution, but it can’t scale to meet global demand. The plants are massive and costly, consume huge amounts of energy, and damage fragile coastal ecosystems. That’s where subsea desalination comes in. By moving desalination offshore, Flocean uses the ocean’s own pressure to do much of the work: - Our systems sit hundreds of meters below the surface, where immense natural pressure forces seawater through ultra-fine membranes. - This eliminates the need for large, high-pressure pumps on land — cutting energy use dramatically. - At those depths, there’s less marine life, so the process is cleaner, safer, and requires far less maintenance. The result: 50% less energy, 90% less land, and minimal marine disruption compared to traditional desalination. We’re proud to see this work recognized — and even prouder to be building a future where access to fresh water isn’t defined by geography, politics, or luck.
