The quality of the video is woeful but I’m not sure how long the original will stay on the RTE site, so I thought I better record it – see the much better version here

what can you say?

A comment left on the blog today, in response to that Texas interview with the President, by a Linda Van de Riet from Missouri.

There’s also, coincidentally, a Linda Van de Riet on the Missouri Jefferson County Republican Central Committee. A relation, maybe?

You know, these people will be consumed by their own hate one day. Hopefully.

PS Another coincidence! There’s a Linda Van de Riet from Missouri on Facebook:

I see she’s ‘interested’ in God. But not in His teachings, it seems.

Blackman reminded me of this rally in the comments – wow, that day must really have pained Ms Van de Riet:

Theo67: I’m grateful to see this nonsense from these types, because it reminds me how desperate this fight is for those who seek goodness and light. There are many who are wallowing in darkness, consumed by hate, and deceiving themselves that they are somehow fighting a “godly” fight – yet, as evidenced by this woman, the hate just spews forth from them – telling us the real story. We can never let these creatures win. This is not just a political fight. It’s much more than that, and I think it’s a battle that’s been raging for a long time.

I’m encouraged when I think of those who had to put their very lives in harm’s way, and those who still do in places far away, simply to gain the rights of being treated like human beings. Watching clips from the Civil Rights struggle, the clips from those fighting for their freedom now in the Middle East… if all we have to do is read nasty words from these lost individuals, then we have it so much easier. It does take a little away from your spirit each time you’re confronted with this stuff, but we can replenish our spirits quite easily because of … the many billions of people around the world who are not consumed by hate.

Thank you Theo

be nice, say hello to our visting tea partier

Yep, we had another Tea Partier visit tonight.

He left a very intelligent comment …. kidding: he advised us all to listen more carefully to Glenn Beck, only then will we learn the, um, truth. I can’t remember the precise details, I clicked the ‘trash’ button way too quickly, but I think the gist of it was that President Obama is conspiring with three-eyed men from Mars and tribesmen from that well known African village of South America to overthrow the democratically elected leader …. 😐 …. of “Egpyt”.

Night everyone 😆

PS Apologies for bringing you the thoughts of the former half term Governor of Alaska on Egypt, but, in fairness, she has provided an insight to the situation that is quite, quite unique:

“….nobody yet has, nobody yet has explained to the American public what they know, and surely they know more than the rest of us know who it is who will be taking the place of Mubarak and um, no, not, not real um enthused about what it is that that’s being done on a national level and from dc in regards to understanding all the situation there in Egypt.”

It’s no wonder, though, that the half-termer is so concerned – as a Fox ‘News’ viewer she thinks “Egpyt” borders Iran:

Um, Fox? Try this one:

some thoughts….

by Sue in Minnesota

One party under the leadership of our President is conducting themselves with seriousness, purpose and deliberative civility. And the other, has abandoned their responsibilities to do the same in favor of political gamesmanship in their quest for control. The frustration and the scorn should be directed at the Republicans…..they should be held fully accountable for their ulterior agenda.

That is up to the American people, who frankly are not adequately engaged or informed, or are reacting emotionally to the issues at hand, and the games being played. Allowing the MSM and the Republicans to take advantage of their weaknesses.

Those who accuse President Obama of being weak, IMO are foolishly underestimating him, and at the same time condeding to the “rules” by which the Republicans want to play the game. The Republicans are more than happy to scapegoat President Obama at every opportunity, Democrats should be wise enough not to jump on their bandwagon.

We have gone through this before, with every serious piece of legislation that has been enacted during the current administration. Blathering, dithering, hand wringing, name calling and yet in the end the President has achieved great success. Few want to dwell on the successes, and when they acknowledge them they tend to find ways to diminish or minimize them. There seems to be a general trend to be more comfortable with drama, conflict, and victimization, rather than healthier and more mature attitudes of patience, engagement, deliberation, resolution and ultimately progress. Americans are expecting too much of one person, and not enough of themselves and their civic responsibilities, or the responsibilities of those they elected to represent them. We are after all a participatory Democracy.

These are very broad brush strokes, generalizations that I have formed from my own observations and frustrations and not reflective of the members of this community. We need to be able to engage in serious discourse which means we will certainly disagree, but unlike the “leftbaggers”, and their flame wars, discussions fueled by emotion and projection succeed mostly in fanning the flames. And generally fail at putting out the fire.

hello people

I just wanted to explain why some of you have to wait a bit before your comments show up under posts.

Naturally enough, a whole bunch of creatures who don’t like the President very much (you know, hate-consumed blood-curdling half-wit numbskull dipstick nut-jobs) attempt to share their thoughts (and I use the word loosely) with us on a regular basis, so in an effort to ensure they remain in their cesspits and don’t infest this little blog the settings only allow through comments from people with brains. That’d be you people.

(I should, though, thank the creatures – they usually point out that the President is black. I never knew that!)

But! If you have a WordPress.com account and you had a comment approved at some point, then the rest of your comments will show up instantly.

If you don’t have a WordPress.com account then your comments effectively are from a ‘new’ person every time – so I need to ‘approve’ them. If I’m asleep at the time – and I sleep an awful lot (it’s my hobby) – then they won’t get through until I wake up.

I think – and I could be entirely wrong about this – if you just sign up for a WordPress.com account, without ever actually using it, then you’ll get on that, err, illustrious ‘approved’ list. But no worries AT ALL if you’d prefer not to do that, I’ll clear your comments as soon as I wake from my slumber.

The hate-mongers will, I promise, never infest this site, but occasionally, like last night, one of them escapes their cesspit. If you spot a comment by one of these unpleasant people let me me know (use ‘contact me’ in the top right of the sidebar) and I will take immense pleasure in clicking ‘trash’. Best place for them 😉

Thanks people. Love ya all.
