There are no easy answers. Some of the problems we’re seeing have played out over decades, and reversing them is going to take time as well. But we are seeing successful efforts by young leaders around this country and around the world to reinvigorate pluralist values.
On December 5, the @ObamaFoundation will host our third annual Democracy Forum focusing on pluralism – how we can disagree deeply while still finding a way to live together.
In 2022, lawmakers in Louisiana passed a Congressional map with only one majority African American district out of six – even though Black Louisianans make up about a third of the state’s population.
