Irony Exemplified

March 15, 2012

I find it ironic that the people of Afghanistan are so up in arms about a rogue US Serviceman killing civilians, yet they seem undisturbed when one of their own (another muslim) kills a multitude of muslims via a homicide bomb blast or automatic rifle fire.  The citizenry seems unfazed by the homicidal actions of another muslim, but totally appalled by the actions of a US Serviceman.  Where is the outrage when muslim on muslim violence occurs?

Do not take me wrong, I am in no way attempting to demean or remotely justify the homicidal actions of our deranged Serviceman.  He will face a Courts Marshal for his actions and may likely face the death penalty as punishment.  He will receive no sympathy and will likely suffer the knee-jerk reaction of being made an example – an outward display that the US military will not tolerate such actions – and rightfully so, they should not.

Afghani president Karzai is demanding that US military be withdrawn from rural areas; presumably so another US serviceman doesn’t decide to take out more civilians.  Instead of merely withdrawing from rural areas, I submit that we should immediately withdraw all forces from Afghanistan.  Let the country and Karzai’s regime implode; that is the most likely outcome when we do withdraw.  So, rather than have more of our military heroes die needlessly, lets protect our national treasures by bringing them home alive.

Whether or not anyone will openly admit it, islam and our western society cannot peacefully coexist.  The qur’an demands Islamic supremacy and either complete surrender or eradication of non-muslims.  In addition to the irony I addressed initially, I also find it ironic that we allow muslims to use our openness and tolerance against us.  When are we going to wake up and realize we have permitted an avowed enemy to set up camp among us, presumably under the banner of tolerance.  Just like Europe,  we will one day have to reckon with issue – hopefully it will be while we are still strong enough to be successful.

Voter IDs

March 14, 2012

I just finished reading an article on ‘Fox News’ regarding an NAACP insult to lawful American voters.  The NAACP is taking the notion that minority voters will become disenfranchisement if state laws, requiring a voter to present a photo ID, are allowed to go into effect.  The Obama administration has sued to block Texas and North Carolina from enacting their recently passed voter ID laws, postulating that minorities will be disproportionately affected.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I thought a law suit had to have ‘standing’ to be acceptable in a court of law.  In essence, a plaintiff had to show ‘harm.’  I fail to see where ‘harm’ can be substantiated where the supposed harmful event has yet to occur.  If anyone has standing to claim voter disenfranchisement it is the lawful voter who has had their vote negated by a fraudulent vote – one cast by: dead voters, cartoon characters, multi-balloting absentee voters, convicted felons (where prohibited by state law), illegal immigrants, and the list goes on…

Reasonably protecting our delicate democratic system mandates that our voting process must remain unadulterated.  If ensuring that only lawful voters cast election votes encompasses positive voter identification, then where is the harm?  Local political action committees, as well as other community organizations, provide transportation for voters who cannot otherwise make it to the polls.  Is it a bridge-too-far to believe these same activities might provide the same service to obtain the necessary voter identification?  I certainly do not want my vote effectively cancelled by an illegally case ballot, and all other lawful voters should feel just as selfish about their vote.

I do not believe Texas, North Carolina, or any other state enacting laws requiring positive voter identification did so with malice toward any group of people – other than perhaps unlawful would-be voters.  Consider me narrow-minded if you will… I guess it comes from investing almost half my live in defense of our democratic republic governance.

As for the UN, it is past time for us to withdraw and kick their sorry butts out of the USA.  I’m just saying…
