Chatsworth

Wednesday was a day to remember - my 70th birthday trip replacing the cancelled trip to Ely. Cathedrals express from King's Cross in Pullman first class dining to Chesterfield pulled by a diesel. 4 coachloads 2 and a half hours at Chatsworth. Interesting fashions but in some cases the bling hardly went with the glorious paintings - Rembrandt, Watteau, Reynolds! Lovely garden and glorious day. Returned pulled by steam engine Duchess of Sutherland. Back to King's Cross at 11.45 and cab to Acton after a great day! Nice to see David Gammie.

Spirituality and Watteau

Tuesday to cathedral for rehearsal for Chrism Mass. A lot of standing about but Ross was there. They also serve who only stand and wait! To Louise's via Putney Bridge as we got on the wrong tube train. To Brentford only to find music pandemonium finished last week and does not start until May. Took Ciarán to the park - it was lovely and sunny and he loved the slide. To spirituality day with Michael Moran on St Francis de Sales. I bought the book and also got Faithful pilgrim the Lent book about the Papal visit. Everyone asked about the trip and Eileen suggested the labyrinth at Ealing. In the cathedral the school children were rehearsing their lovely Passion and Easter play. To Royal Academy to see the lovely Watteau drawings. Liz took Ciarán to Sion Park.
