There are moments in the life of a university that do more than just mark progress. They fundamentally expand the horizon of what comes next. Today is one of those moments. I am profoundly grateful to announce an historic $150 million gift from Harold Hamm – the largest single gift in the history of the University of Oklahoma – to advance health education, research, and discovery across our Health Campus and accelerate the groundbreaking work of the OU Health Harold Hamm Diabetes Center.

As a public university, we have a responsibility to remain competitive among the nation’s leading institutions while ensuring that an OU education remains accessible to students with the talent and drive to succeed. To that end, the OU Board of Regents today approved the university’s budget for the 2026-2027 academic year, including tuition and mandatory fee increases that will support continued investment in our people, our students, and our future. On the Norman campus, the Board approved a 3% increase in tuition and mandatory fees for undergraduate and graduate students. On the OU Health Campus, tuition and fee changes vary by program, with most increasing by approximately 3%. The College of Law tuition increase approved today is 5%.

I’m proud to announce the launch of Project 200 – the most ambitious recruitment effort in our university’s history and a generational investment in research, talent, and Oklahoma’s future. Through Project 200, we will recruit approximately 200 of the nation’s leading researchers to OU over the next five years. This effort focuses on four strategic areas where we are uniquely positioned to lead and deliver measurable impact: Health, Extreme Weather, National Security and Defense, and Secure and Resilient Energy. These priorities reflect OU’s longstanding strengths and a profound opportunity for us to emerge as a national pacesetter in innovation.
