🎶 Hi, there! Sometimes, I'm out on the road with my own fiddle + cello folk duo,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JY8QI2cOyW8" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Oliver the Crow</a>, grammy-nominated country singer-songwriter extraordinaire&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGqJg6XpCv4" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Brandy Clark</a>, or a number of other artists.You may be asking, "Kaitlyn, what is this conflabbit Patreon thingamajig?" Before I jump into that, let me give you a little history lesson. In "ye olden days," wealthy aristocrats used to foot the bill for artists of all disciplines. Mozart, Beethoven, and Hadyn, for example, all benefitted from having patrons who supported their compositions.Nowadays, income revenues for artists are shrinking at a staggering rate. Streaming platforms like Spotify have all but eliminated the need to purchase CDs or digital downloads to listen to music, yet they only pay out between $.003 and $.005 per stream to artists (for reference, you would need 58,000 streams at the $.005 rate to make the equivalent of one week's worth of work at a full-time, minimum wage job in Tennessee). Thanks to this music-streaming model, live shows are now the only real avenue for selling albums (at least in any kind of sustainable volume for emerging to mid-level professional musicians).&nbsp;That's where Patreon comes in to save the day.Patreon takes the old model of artist patronage and adapts it for the artists and fans of today.
