During a trip through the Flinders Ranges, we came across a variety of bouncing and hopping macropods. These in particular aren’t Wallabies or Kangaroos they’re actually a species of Wallaroos known as a Euro.
There were also a lot of young Wallaroos, this one was particularly close to its mother.

The Red-Rumped Parrot (Psephotus haematonotus) was the most colourful and hard to spot amongst the grass when they are grazing. I came across a flock of about fifty birds so there were plenty to take pictures off.
I snapped this picture of a Noisy Minor (Manorina melanocephala)Â just before it flew at my lunch. Lucky for me it didn’t get my food.
During winter many trees around the world quickly lose their leaves and leave behind stark empty branches. Not only is most Australian native vegetation evergreen but many species also flower during the colder months providing colour during the dreary months.
Lake Burley Griffin may be surrounded by the suburbs of Canberra but that doesn’t stop
the birds from visiting. If you take a short stroll along the lakeside and you are sure to see
several species of ducks, swans, coots, moorhens or swamphens.

The Australian native Hakea laurina is currently in flower with these bursts of pinky red and yellow blooms. 
The flowers were covered in bees and other flying insects, attracted to the sweet smelling nectar.
