Valentine's Day Morning

I've started a tradition where I give both boys a Valentine's Day happy in the morning. I'm a little late blogging about it.

Lawson's face when he realized there was candy in there.

Playing Outside

Briley has 1/2 days at school on Mondays and Fridays. Since it was so nice last week, Lawson and I spent all morning outside. Our quiet mornings together consist of a walk in his "beep-beep" to go see the tractors (construction on the new houses), playing with his own tractor in the backyard (where he can push it around for hours), and pulling out every single toy in the garage.

Soccer Season

What??? Is that my child, posing with his soccer ball AND somewhat smiling? It sure is. It was a rare moment of cooperation with a picture. Thanks tink!

It's hard to believe that soccer season has already started. B had his first soccer practice tonight. It was 45 degrees outside and dark. There were lots of runny noses and freezing fingers, but we had fun. He's excited to start his 2nd soccer season!

Can you say haircut???

Briley had school on Valentine's Day, so I tried to take a Vday pic of Lawson. Didn't work. He's not my cooperative photo subject anymore :( One thing is for sure, it confirmed that he is in MAJOR need of a haircut.

Things I'm Missing...

We have spent so much time loving our new city and new home, that I really haven't had that much time to get homesick... until this month. A few things have me missing Memphis a bit. (Of course we miss family and friends the absolute most, these are just a few random things that we took for granted.)

1. Lifetime Fitness: I know it sounds crazy, but we really, really, I mean really miss it. I don't think we realized how much we missed it until we joined the Y. Working out became something that Nick and I really enjoyed doing together. The boys loved the childcare, and the indoor/outdoor pools were fabulous. Our new gym has all of these, but doesn't compare in the slightest. I could go on forever, but I can't believe Nashville doesn't have a gym more like this. We may just have to open one ourselves. Anyone want to be our investors???
2. On the Border: Can you believe that Nashville doesn't have a single OTB??? I can't. We are really missing our cheese and onion sour cream enchiladas. This is the only restaurant where we order the exact same thing every time. There are tons of great local Mexican restaurants, but no meal compares to my sour cream enchiladas :(
3. Dinstuhl's Chocolate Covered Strawberries: Ok, these are the little stinkers that started all of this homesickness. For the past 10 years, Nick has given me these for Valentine's Day. So when, Vday started getting closer, I kept reminding him to find a place to get me strawberries. Well, he did, but they were just basic strawberries. No ooey gooey sugary filling, oozing out all of that sweet sugary juice... mmm. Well, I discovered too late, that Dinstuhl's will overnight ship their strawberries. So that will be my reminder next year. Who cares if we end up paying $50 to ship 6 strawberries? They are that worth it.
That's my whining for a while. Lifetime, On the Border, Dinstuhl's, will you please decide to add a location in Nashville??? You would make me one happy girl ;)

Snow Day #12

Is it bad that it snowed yesterday, and I didn't take the kids outside? In my defense, it's not like snow is anything new to us this year. Both kids and myself have colds. It was only 20 degrees outside. And we did fun stuff like this instead:

We started the morning making pudding for finger paint.
As usual the boys did more eating than mixing.
I realized that I must have thrown away my food coloring when we moved, so we used white pudding on blue paper. (I love how both of their mouths are open.)
Again, more eating than painting.
B's Masterpiece
Lawson discovered that he could eat pudding AND suck his thumb at the same time.
Then.... we made Valentine's Day cookies.
Please ignore the fact that they are both half dressed, I won't tell you what time it is either. Really, why get dressed if you're not going anywhere?
MMM...
mmm...
Can you guess what we did the rest of the day???

Valentine's Surprise

The boys got a little Valentine's happy in the mail from Mamaw and Papaw.

I wish you could see his face better, but I missed it. He squealed when he saw this cookie!

So proud of his Elmos.

Something I am Loving Right Now

When we first found out we were moving, I was so excited to get a house with an office for me. I have been dying for storage for all of my stuff. Since my office is one of the first rooms you see when you walk in the front door, I wanted it to look good too. It's finally coming together. I found a desk and just had it painted. We moved a frame from our bedroom into here, and I'm hoping Nick will build me some more for the other wall. I've got storage, so now I need to work on the walls. It is still a work in progress, but I am sooooo happy to have my own room!

So Proud

Nick was feeling handy this weekend and decided to build some molding to go along our bathroom mirror. It was the yucky builder grade mirror, and I had suggested tearing it off and putting two frames up. But my little handyman had a better idea.

Before pics:

Ta Da!

Details: Nick stained and painted it. He hasn't filled in the joints yet, but you can barely tell.

I LOVE it! Thanks babe :)

Snow. Again.

Here's a picture of when the snow first started falling. I've lost count, but I think we just had our 11th snow day of the year. Briley no longer jumps up and down when we see it, and you know we've had enough snow when we're not excited anymore.

The pool and pool house. You can only imagine how excited we are for it to warm up, so we can spend our days at the pool. I. CAN. NOT. WAIT.
To tide us over, we did just break down and join the Y. It is the only gym option around here. It has childcare and an indoor pool, which is a necessity for me to work out and for us to get some energy out. It is nothing like our old gym, and we are really missing it right now. But... the boys are having a blast at the pool. I need to take some pictures of that. Briley takes swimming lessons at a local center once a week and is doing AWESOME. I think he's almost broken of the "floating head" swim. He showed me his "moobs" today when we went to the pool. That kid put on his goggles and turned into my super swimmer dude. He told me that wasn't it, he was just a Ninja Turtle. Lawson loves the pool too, and just runs around like a crazy child as usual. He's scared to go down the slide alone, but loves when someone pushes him down.
