The Teddy Bear sat, his back against the wall high on the Ottoman from the ground he looked tall he was only 18 inches, he knew he couldn’t grow but he was big on smiles, the love he could show.
There was no-one to hold him, so no-one to care, there was no-one to see him, so he just sat there. Simply longing to be loved, just waiting for play. His owner had grown up, her childhood faded away.
Suddenly a sound, childish hands picked him up cuddled and loved him, he couldn’t believe his luck. He felt renewed, full of wonder and even more, wanted, his stitched smile grew wider than before.
Last night I dreamt that I had died it was so sad I could have cried. I looked around but couldn’t see where on Earth I could be NO-one about Just an open gate I wondered should I go in or wait? It was slightly open so I slipped in, could do no harm so where’s the sin? A voice cried out sounding like thunder, saying ‘Who are you?’ Oops, what a blunder, I took to my heels with a quick glance to the rear saw a white haired gent giving chase quite near, saying ‘you don’t belong here You’re not in the book’ I picked up speed hardly daring to look As I reached some trees for handy cover He seemed to lose me then knocked me over a rugby tackle brought me down as I lay there winded he remarked with a frown ’No name, no entry, didn’t you know? Unless you’re picked it’s not time to go’ thank goodness for that I thought with a smile I was hoping to live longer, or … at least for a while. I suddenly woke up in my own bed grass stains on my hand and a lump on my head…
My thanks to Phil for helping with the Illustration, …I love that gate, … with all those Gold Axe heads atop, …you’d definitely want to explore inside,… wouldn’t you? …✨
~~“How much for this?” ~~ ~~I said to the man ~~ ~stood behind the stall~ ~by his little white van~ ~He followed my gaze~ ~ and eyebrow raised~ ^^he said “it’s free to you, should you answer true^^
I stared eyes wide but couldn’t decide, then he further said “First idea in your head?” so I answered him true, ~~“How mad are you?” ~~ ^^he said “It’s yours for free, you truly answered me”^^
The thumbing of paper, eyes locked on the page, mind absorbed in a story lost in a bygone age. Imagining the villain or hero playing fair, the dark romantic lover, saving the heroine, with flair, ‘tis such wonderful adventure, your imagination roaming free, as a Dragon Rider on yonder Dragon,… Now how good would that be?
When we moved into this house, there was a small Balcony area, empty, nothing there, So Rob built this bookcase to contain most of his books, I must admit, not all of them, they’re scattered around the house, on various shelves. He had 14 years start on me to collect his beloved books and introduced me to fantasy / science-fiction, Detective Novels too, …as previous to that it was mainly romances for me, … But once bitten by the science-fiction bug you never look back, … earlier writers such as…Anne McCaffrey, Robin Hobb, Stephen Donaldson, Oooo and JRR Tolkien, of course, (almost goes without saying) …I could go on and on, … But as with the poem, I just soaked everything up. I love reading, There’s nothing quite like it. 💫
