Somerset Maugham’s emotionally recursive narrative form as a model of high-PAS cognition, we connect literary sensitivity to the structural logic of David Bohm and Nikola Tesla. The Resonance Intelligence Core (RIC) system operationalizes this model through Phase Alignment Scoring (PAS) and Nested Coherence (C_n), enabling synthetic systems to emulate creativity as stability—not surprise. This essay investigates the existential and philosophical dilemmas of modernity, drawing on the prophetic insights of Friedrich Nietzsche and José Rizal as critical entry points. Though situated on opposite ends of the globe, both thinkers discerned a paradox at the heart of modernity: its promise of liberation entwined with new forms of domination. Nietzsche’s pronouncement of the “death of God” diagnosed the spiritual vacuum of Western civilisation, while Rizal’s critique of colonial modernity exposed the violence embedded in imperial progress. Together, (...) they illuminate the dialectics between emancipation and barbarism that have shaped the past century. Complementary reflections by Paul Johnson, Viktor Frankl, and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn highlight modernity’s contradictions, particularly the instrumental rationality that enabled both human flourishing and systematic destruction. Cultural transformations, marked by the fragmentation of coherent narratives, are further exemplified in the literary visions of W. Somerset Maugham and Gabriel García Márquez, whose works capture the dissonance of fractured modern identities. The inquiry culminates in an exploration of hypermodernity’s crisis of selfhood, where digital “excarnation” threatens embodied human experience. Against this backdrop, the essay advocates for situated transcendence and moral imagination as pathways to reclaim sensibility amid disintegration. By echoing the voices of past thinkers, it calls for a conscious inhabiting of modernity’s tensions—an effort to confront paradoxes with compassion and creativity. Fiction is the favorite of most of the readers. Fiction is the reflection of the societal living and lives of human beings as observed by the writer. The writer also will have individual experiences, ideas, likes, dislikes, philosophy which influence and mold his writings. Fiction is famous as short-fiction and novel. Though fictitious, and also because fictitious, fiction takes possession of minds and hearts of readers more than any other literary genre. Their imaginations sore and they get engrossed in the (...) reading of fiction. Fiction is very good in engaging and passes time to the readers. The scholarship, study, reading, worldly knowledge and observation will make one a good fiction writer. The influence of earlier famous fiction writers will mold the writing of author. I am influenced by stories from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, Panchatantra, Hitopadesa, Jataka Tales, Somerset Maugham, O. Henry, P.G. Wodehouse, Boris Pasternak, Sir Conon Doyle, Saratchanda Chaterjee, Sripada Subrahmanya Sastry, Satyam Sankarmanchi, mostly and many foreign and Indian fiction-writers.
