about

We Rob Rave are back on Polish Juke! Over a year removed from Sknit’s stellar 10 inch release - Loop EP, on the newest addition to the PJ catalogue the producer rejoins his WRR partner PZG for yet another round of their trademark madness. Konotopa EP is a five-tracker overflowing with dancefloor ruggedness and sharp rhythms built upon punchy drum patterns and repetitive vocal manipulations, all over a subtle sonic palette which - though not a total novelty for the duo - provides a glimpse into what could be one of many future directions for the iconic bass heavyweights, as they went into this material aiming at both deriving from and redefining what new techno could sound like.

The album opens with „Flusher” - a rave’y four-on-the-floor excursion into familiar territories where high-pitched, nostalgia-inducing vocals are intertwined with stabby melodies and filtered-out percussive modulations. Following that, we’re instantly hit with a late-00s inspired footwork frenzy of „Co Name” filled with precise peak-time vocal chops and intense sub sections.

Right in the middle of the project awaits „Consistent” and the title of the track couldn’t be more perfect - on the one hand, it provides a spot-on description of the duet’s top notch quality output throughout the years. On the other hand, the rather minimalistic production on this particular record functions as narrative contrast to what we’re used to from the We Rob Rave brand. No clubs and festivals are safe with this belter!

The closing section of the EP explores the intricate structures of the Chicago-UK musical feedback loop with „2 Rooms” where delicate triplet stabs and kicks punctuate dreamy Sample Junkie synths and vocal deliveries, as well as the final track („Bass In Your London”) - the fittingly bulkiest and longest composition of the offering that’s screaming with evergreen bass music chants and saws to match.
