From September 23 to 25, 2025, the European Forum for Geography and Statistics (EFGS) conference is taking place in Oslo. The conference is organized by the Statistical Office of Norway and the Norwegian Mapping Authority in cooperation with Eurostat and the EFGS Steering Committee. This annual event brings together experts, researchers, and policymakers from across Europe and provides an opportunity to exchange experiences on the challenges and opportunities related to the integration of statistical data with spatial data, their quality, and transparency in the context of dynamic changes in Europe. This year’s main theme of the conference is “Trusted Data in a Changing Europe.”
During this year’s conference, Director Dr. Eng. Janusz Dygaszewicz chaired the thematic session “Frameworks in Geospatial and Statistical Communities – Concepts & Implementation” and served as the moderator of the panel discussion following the presentations in this session.

Additionally, GUS employees Ms. Amelia Wardzińska-Sharif and Mr. Mirosław Migacz conducted a workshop titled “Python in GIS,” demonstrating the possibilities of programming in Python using QGIS. Workshop participants gained knowledge on how to integrate statistics with geospatial data and visualize results by writing code exclusively, as well as got acquainted with GeoPandas — a Python library that facilitates working with spatial data.
During the conference, the Plenary Meeting of the EFGS Steering Committee, which includes GUS employees, also takes place. The meeting discusses further actions and activities within the framework of EFGS.

More information about the conference can be found on the EFGS Conference, Oslo – 2025 website.
