Very exciting work.

I hate museums. I thought that I would metaphorically rob a museum in Europe. I could have gone into one and stuck labels with my name on all the pieces there. Or I could have done this.
There is so much reverential almost religious solemnity attached to ‘The Arts’, especially ‘institutional arts’, I thought I might take a little of the wind out of their trousers. I created a series of works about the ordinary “Art” and his/hers daily life, shopping, walking the dog, waiting for a bus, etc.
Wonderful portraits. Michael Shapcott. They are mostly of children and children you’d expect to see “Charles Dickens'” London rather than at the local mall. I like them. They have a haunted look.

There isn’t much information on Vojnar. His work has this wispy spiritual quality to it. Or maybe its just years of brown outs. I always find it strange to see how many artists who grew up behind the Iron Curtain have surreal work that deals in many ways in flight. Or escape. And the heavy religious images.
