Ophthalmologist for Tommy

Tommy went to ophthalmologist today. He did get a new prescription, but eyes are not affected by diabetes. So, good news. I thought I would ride along. That was a mistake. I also thought we could go shopping. That thought was a mistake, too, as I had to get home.

We need to get a storm door from Home Depot for front door. I also wanted to take the list to Publix and get all the specials. Plus, we need the ads from two other stores. When Tommy got into the car, all I wanted was to go home. We did. I hurt so I could not sleep.

Today was in low 60s, breezy, and dry. The sun was blazing. Tommy parks on the top deck of the parking deck. The floors below scare me to sit alone. I thought the wind that came up was going to blow me off the top deck. The car was being buffeted about. I was able to use the sunshade, and it saved me from the sun.

I had to cancel both the bath companies because I was so ill. Now, they have both called me twice in less than a week. That is so annoying. The guy said 'it will only take an hour." I told him that talking about it for three minutes was too much.

While in the car waiting, I got Publix ad checked. Then, I called looking for an Amway dealer in Cullman. No luck. I made lists and calls, so it was a good wait.

When I turned the radio on in the car on Sunday, 96.5 had Christmas music. One day, Casey Kasem was reprised, and we enjoyed one of his programs.

Then, I could not sleep. My legs hurt and my feet had gotten very hard and tight. So, Tommy did my therapy with the leg pumps. Now, my feet feel 'loose' again. I missed four days because I was too sick.

Dinner was leftovers. What is new around here? My friend who died at 85 about six years ago told me one day that all they ever ate was leftovers. I don't mind, but it seems that way here, too.

Tomorrow, we will have rice-chicken-broccoli casseroles, each made to our liking. Each little 6"x6" casserole will last for two meals.

It is almost 9 pm, and I am going to bed. So, I will have five or six hours by the middle of the might and be up the rest of the night. Ugh!

Are you afraid of parking decks, especially the top deck?

Is Christmas music on all the time now?

$20 sewing items for $6 and Busy Monday

Once again, I paid $6 for a coupon worth $20 at a sewing store. I decided to purchase needles for J. She has none.

*J.&P. Coats Sewing Needles $3.99 (for J) eyes were gold
*J.&P. Coats Gold Plated Quilting Needles $3.00 (only 2 needles in the package) size 8 (very tiny)
*Prym Quilter's Curved Needles (4) $3.59
*14 loose, ornate, heart-shaped, metal buttons, ten cents each
*1 2/3 yard black/grey ticking fabric

The quilting needles are the tiniest I have ever seen. I use betweens for regular hand sewing because I like the small needle. However, I am not sure these will ever be used for regular sewing.

I am not a quilter, so I was not aware quilters ever used curved needles. I cannot guess the application. There are two 2-inch curved needles and two 2.5 curved needles. The smaller would fit around a quarter and the larger around a half dollar. No, I did not fit them around coins, but that is my guess.

While I love these coupons, a person can only get one coupon per month per business. I missed calling at the right time to get the KFC coupon. Some weeks, I forget to call and some weeks, I am not quick enough dialing.

Monday, I purchased another sewing coupon. At Harbor Freight I bought 4 cleaning cloths for $0.43. At Publix I bought a half-gallon of a2milk. I had not had any for more than 24 hours! I returned something at WM because the purchase was just a waste of money. I had the checkup for right eye after it was lasered to remove a bubble from the cataract surgery. My ocular blood pressure is fine. Those five stops wore me out.

Your turn
Do you know how a quilter could use a tiny curved needle? I have used a curved needle, so I understand the concept. Do you ever use coupons for sewing supplies/notions? Do you find that a day with multiple stops that take only a few minutes is draining?

This and That and Sales

*Dominique won't eat oats. Consequently, she looks like she is shrinking. She is not ill looking or acting, just not eating her oats but everything else. Maybe a drink made of honey, acv, and garlic in water will wake up her appetite. I can hope.

*My last eye exam and measuring for glasses was yesterday. My right eye has almost perfect vision, just astigmatism. The left eye needs more correction for close vision. Far vision is perfect in both eyes. I could read the smallest line!

*Apples--$0.69/lb., price-matched from Sprouts. I have 10 lbs.

*The high will be 80 degrees today. Whaaaat? I cannot get my clothes right for the day or evening. Even taking a sweater on and off is not working to keep me from smothering. Doctor's offices are stifling.

*The car ac quit again. I am still using ac as the car gets hot just sitting in the yard. Plus, it is warm enough to use it! Saturday, I will need the heater.

*Have not used dryer in three months! The wash not hung outdoors is hung inside.

*Another free lunch or three is coming up this next week. I know I will go to one, but the other two are iffy as to my attendance.

*I picked up 20 Christmas Child boxes to fill by next Friday.

*Bought exbf a Batman t-shirt with cape attached by Velcro. It cost $1.08.

*The smoky haze from the Appalachian forest fires has drifted to the east of me. That was weird to go out and see so much haze.

*Since I finally feel well enough to use the curling iron, my self-haircut is receiving rave reviews.

*A hen will go into the crockpot tonight. In the morning, I will add four red potatoes, onion, and celery. Exbf will get all but the breast.

Your turn
Have you found the $0.98 gallon milk? What's going on at your place?
