I am talking about the salads with dressing and add-ons all in the same bag. All these salads have a use-by date of June 5, 2018. I got these on June 1.
Color me stunned! I can eat one each day. I will give them to exbf when he comes Tuesday. But, the rest. Never mind eating them. They will not go into the freezer. So, I gave 5 away. I think it was six. Maybe not.
If there are any left, which there will be, they will go into a soup well before they start to go off. Some are heavy on red cabbage and green cabbage. Canned tomatoes and ground pork will finish off the soup. Maybe I will freeze a couple, but the freezer is full. I could empty two into a freezer bag and at least save two for the future. Well, those are plans for now.
Contents:
green cabbage
Romaine lettuce
red cabbage
carrots
green onions
Greek yogurt poppyseed dressing
dried cranberries
pumpkin seeds
I emptied one bag for dinner last night and could not finish it, of course! The bag states it contains 3.5 servings. No wonder. I did finish it for lunch today, Saturday.
The little bag of pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries made for a free and nutritious snack later.
Also, there are three hugs bags of collards waiting for me. I really need a larger stainless steel pot. This is not the first time I have need a huge pot. And, it won't be the last time, I am sure.
I had planned to go to PO and farmer's market today, but I am not. Instead, I am going to torture myself by going into the den of WM today, full of Rock the South crowd. I do need something there.

Healthy and Cheap and Fast Food Wednesday
In the grocery store deli section are little salads that I never buy. However, the price became more than reasonable and I purchased 2/$1. The next day was the sell-buy date. Both salads looked fresh still and when I ate them had crispy greens.
On Wednesday, I had both salads, one for lunch and one for dinner. Wow, was that an easy meal to prepare! These were not free lunches, just almost free.
One part I did not eat was the cut up boiled egg. Those eggs are probably the fake boiled eggs that are a tube of egg. Besides, the white felt tough. Oh, I did not eat the soy nuts, either. I avoid soy.
Saturday, I will buy the rest of the salad fixings I need. At the Farmer's Market, I bought really delicious tomatoes from a farmer.
White grapes are $.78/lb. at the store, so I will get those and take part of them in the car for the Eclipse Trip.
Have you ever bought these pre-made salads with the toppings separate and ready to assemble? Even full price they are as cheap as a hamburger and much better for a person.

Saving on Salad; Coupons for Nutritious Food
| two Dole 10 oz salad blends |
I can make two nutritious meals for $1. That is fifty cents apiece. Two people can dine for a total of $1. Got it? If you grow your own, never mind.
I had a coupon for $1.50 off two bags salad mixtures from Dole. This is cheap eating! Plus, I had a $3 check from doing a survey online. That $3 is above and beyond normal income. So, I treat it like a coupon or free money to play with. I want the salad greens for Wednesday when exbf comes to help me with a few things around the house. He loves salads, as do I. Sooo, I was passing the store and went in.

I can get six large salads from this and other vegetables I got free or really cheap a few days ago. Plus, I salvaged some items from the hen's produce. Without the cooked chicken in the salad, I see this costing me $.50/salad. I could boil the free eggs from my hens in the backyard, put in the salad, and leave off the chicken expense. Yes, with eggs, this will definitely feed two for $1. By the way, I sliced the zucchini and squash really thin and used little of it on each salad. I have free squashes for tomorrow.
Yes, I see salads in my life for the next few days. These have to be eaten immediately. Plus, I still have one bag in the refrigerator, I think. No, it's two partial bags I will use tonight.
About coupons for nutritious items
I went into the store three days in a row and these coupons were almost intact. However, the coupons for chips and crackers and candy were all gone. These coupons were put out on the same day. I realize the store employees might have put out new coupon pads. The manager said the crackers and chip coupons go quickly.
So, for all the people who say there are not coupons for nutritious foods, have you looked. During the same time period, there were coupons in the little coupon booklets in the paper for: $1 Off Dole Blends. I sent one to my daughter and forgot to use mine. I was using these $1.50/2 that are of less value.
Your turn
Do you find coupons like I have used, ones for produce (I chose zucchini and squash), and then, specifically, Dole salad greens? Okay, if you grow your own salads, raise your hands proudly!
