Tuesday-I Thought it Was Wednesday

Tommy told me he was annoyed with the valet service losing our car and told the guy in charge. I thought he was just talking to the guys. He told them he was tired, hungry, and annoyed with the wait. I wondered why the guy apologized so profusely as we were ready to drive away. So, I was wrong.

While I was sitting patiently, he was complaining. I think I was still in shock from the pain and just grateful not to be in the exam room anymore.

We went grocery shopping again today! I had Tommy go into store with the turkey breast for $1.69. They will be in tomorrow.

We took neighbor dinner--pork loin, slaw, sweet potato. When I called as we were in the car, he said he had made dinner. I told him he could eat it tomorrow night. When he came to our car, he said he was going to get out a small lasagna.  Teasing him, I said this dinner might be better. We left him laughing.

Tommy is shocked he has to cook the rue for my giblet gravy. Right now, I have the eggs boiling to put in giblet gravy. This dinner may take until Friday to get done. He hates gravy, so this is not important to him.

I lost one more pound. YAY for me. I suppose I can put it and more back on with Thanksgiving.

I have burns and huge lumps where I don't have burns! Remember, all this happened from collar bone up. So, it seems very visible. But, I have a prescription of Mupirocin for the burned and raw places she made. I actually look like I have been hit in the face multiple times. I am glad I am going nowhere where people can see my face. Thankfully, my mask hides it when I go out. Usually, the blasting only hardens the skin. This time, it is a raw, open sore on more than a few. And, there are lumps.

Last night, I slept from 11 pm to 7:30 am. I hope this good pattern continues. I just had to have a nap today after all the busyness of the morning. Hopefully, I can still sleep early tonight.

I just discovered a new show--St. Denis Medical. I think this is the second season. It is hilarious. The mother from the Goldbergs is so funny. Have you seen this?

There is so much still to do. Right now, Tommy is exhausted from carrying in groceries and two cases of Dasani.

How is your Thanksgiving dinner coming along?

Duct Tape and Two Ice Cream Freezer Mystery

It is sooo hot! Even after all the rain we have had in places, we are still in a drought.

We, of course, got out in the heat and accomplished a few things. Now, we are in ac all the time except for going to the car and back.

Tommy put all the food we were going to give the five little girls and their mother. We left the car ac on so that the food would not spoil. He was about thirty minutes late to pick it up. It seems he is okay after his ER visit. It was too hot to visit and find out. But, we did something to help someone today.

From the pool noodle videos, I remember one woman saying she got colored duct tape from Dollar Tree. I sent Tommy in to buy some. He is so funny. He was telling me the colors. He said there were two blues, one that was light blue and another that looked almost purple. Well, it was purple. Perfect. He bought 1 white, 1 purple, and 2 red. I told him these and I did not want the light blue. I had found one roll of duct tape on Amazon that was $13 for the roll. After I bought these, I looked again on Amazon.

4 rolls duct tape--$5. That is $21 for pool noodles + $5 from today=$26 total

I need more rolls and several other colors, but this is a start. And, I want to get them now, not when everyone else wants colored duct tape. Now, for the glue or glue sticks.

We had to cook tonight. We had roast beef, carrots, potatoes, bell pepper. I had strawberries.

I have been worried about Tommy's childhood friend who lived next to him as a child. They have gone to same church together. He is the one who had the subdural hematoma a few weeks ago. I have tried calling but got no one. Finally, today, he answered the phone from Navarre. He is fine. That is a relief.

Cleaner comes tomorrow! I hope she does not cancel. I think I will have her help me declutter my bedroom and find more dishtowels I bought for 33 cents apiece. The ones I bought five years ago are threadbare and some have holes.  Those have been demoted to cleaning towels. Maybe I will have her scramble eggs for me again.

I mentioned to Tommy that the part of the ice cream freezer that goes in the freezer needed to be put in a cabinet. I also asked him if he had noticed the other part with the motor and the cord. He said there was another piece in the dining area. But, he pointed out it was the same as the part I took from the freezer. He brought it to me because I was skeptical that I had another ice cream freezer. Well, yes, I do. I know that was too expensive to buy two, so I now wonder in what fever I acquired another. It is peculiar.

I have noticed and have been appalled that cowboys upon emptying the last drop of water from their canteen often toss their canteen aside, leaving it behind. I wonder if they do find water, how can they take more water with them? I realize it is a dramatic gesture to signify their emotions. But, I notice it every time. Do you notice?

Do you ever have two of something and wonder how that happened? The ice cream freezer was on sale, but not so cheap I would buy two.

Wednesday Sharing--Bulbs and Wisdom

Since I had more cans of food than I can use, I offered them to a friend. I had given some to her last Friday, I think. I had promised her dates, but could not find them. Today, Wednesday, she was coming to pick up a bag of food.

We talked about my bulbs I had not planted because I was just too sick for so long. I offered her yellow and white onion starts and she was excited to get. I included two cloves of Elephant garlic and two tulip bulbs. She was thrilled when she got these.

On the phone she had offered to give me daffodils growing in the ditch. I told her not to get in the wet and mud, just to wait another day when it was drier.

She took the food and bulbs and gave me two huge bags of daffodils. It rained too much today to get out and plant. Well, I have planted in the rain, but I did not want to today. Now, I find out it is supposed to rain hard tomorrow. I suppose when it quits or slacks up in the afternoon, I will get out and plant them. Some are white. (paper whites?) most are yellow in the center and cream around the edges.

We both think we might get onions or garlic even planting these this time of the year, but if we don't--oh well. I paid less than $2 for 240 onion sets, and the Elephant garlic bulb was given to me.

Before she left, she said, "I would thank you for these, but my grandmother said,  'If you thank people for plants, they will die.' " I laughed in appreciation.

"Let a child plant something and it will grow. Let an adult plant the same thing and it will die"

She told me other gardening wisdom her grandmother told her, but I forgot them.

Do you have any garden wisdom to share? Who told you? She seems to really cherish these sayings.

I was sorry I did not have wisdom to share with her. I did give her some advice--plant the tulip bulbs amongst the daffodils so animals won't eat them.  My tulips planted with daffodils did not get eaten by ground squirrels. Plus, pink tulips amongst yellow daffodils is visually stunning.
