Reindeer Attack

Jan. 6 skipping steps tonight

Today, we got up early and prepared to see the podiatrist, both of us. Well, I staggered to the door. It was dark inside and locked. On the door was a sign informing the public of new hours--Tues--Friday.

Since we planned to go to Publix with a list of bogo items and other things we need, we shopped instead.  My electric cart would not turn, causing me pain. I almost hit a dozen people. Finally, a customer told and employee I needed a new cart.

There was only one thing I could not find. There were no more Pepsi at noon and the Pepsi man came this morning. Grrr. No one checked the back. My hands trembled the whole time, and I was in no mood to be right.

When we came home, I took the two loaves of bread and three bananas and went up the ramp to save the soft things and unlock the door. My toe of left shoe caught where ramp meets porch and I slammed into the deer headfirst.

The porch was freezing. I was screaming because my elbow was twisted under me. I could not get my elbow out. I thought I could twist around and sit up. It is a good thing I did not because I would have fallen off backward. I landed on the bread and dropped the bananas!

Two of the guys grabbed me by upper arms and to pick me up. I was screaming in pain, telling them they were hurting me because of torn rotator cuffs. Two other guys chimed in and said I had told them before. Of course, the new guys did not know. So, they stuffed the soft stretcher under me and got me to my feet.

My poor deer barely survived my lunging into them. Tommy has been struggling in below freezing (31F) and (18F feels like) weather to make the deer stand. I told him to lay them on the porch. We can see how broken they are next Christmas. It is snowing on and off.

I have a huge abrasion on head. The deer are a wire frame with soft mesh around them. So, there is no damage to my head except for the burn of the abrasion.

When I fell, I knocked over a pot of dirt and broke it. So, I was sitting in that. When I sat down inside, my behind and leg were wet. Lovely mud.  Poor Tommy has been out in the cold for an hour. He just came in and said his hands are numb. They look swollen.

The guys were telling me I had bedazzled my clothes. I suppose after rolling around in the deer glitter, I have dragged in enough to last until next Christmas.

Tommy just looked at his day planner. He has the appointment correct in his day planner but told me the wrong date. Oh well! I am more annoyed at all the glitter in the house right now. Shockingly, I did not break any fingernails or bones.

No chiding me! The mud on my behind and glitter all over me, squashed bread and bruised bananas are my only problem.

When Tommy finally came in, he immediately brought me a Hershey's Miniature. Good man. Just now, he told me I broke the plastic pot AND my watering can! I did more damage to everything else than me.

I never slept on Sunday night, so that probably played a part in the tumble. I am going to bed now at 3:30 and eat dinner later after a nap. Tommy said he can get a bag of meatballs and leftover vegetables. I will eat tuna with lots of carrots and celery in it. We will survive! The dinner for tonight will be for Tuesday night.

I  did get an appointment, most important doctor for this week!!!

Such a Nightmare-Worst I Have Ever Had

Tuesday night, I could not sleep. When Tommy awoke at 8 am, I asked him if he just wanted to go now to get ads and bogo items we wanted. I think he was a little shocked. I am oats and he ate something. We left before 9 am.

I really did not want the bogo on Spice Island Ground Sage to sell out. He had gone through the spices on Tuesday to see what we need for the holidays. Ground Sage was the only thing that we needed. While at Publix where Ocean Spray cranberries were $4.99 for 12 ounces, I looked to see if they were on sale. Yes! They were 2 packages for $4. I bought two and they are in the refrigerator. Those will be gone before the day is over.

We got bananas, white grapes, Miracle Whip (2), 2 small packages of strawberry Jello, bag of Meyer Lemons, one Spice Island Ground Sage bogo, We did not buy much, just bogo items we needed and a few other items.

I was in the bed for  nap by noon. I slept until 6 pm when I awoke from a nightmare. I was murdering someone. I had a long, bladed weapon. It was three feet long, mostly blade. Now, you know I could not wield it! It was gory. I immediately regretted what I had done. Then, I woke up. Lots happened at the beginning, but I cannot remember it which is probably for the best.

Two appointments have been scheduled, one on Thursday and another on Friday for getting a shower installed we can use. I need to investigate both companies. I know the rotted-out window will need a repair. There is no exhaust fan. One-inch tile on floor and walls will probably need to go. I am sure the massive mirror will go. Vanity probably needs to go. Sink is rusted. 4-inch tiles on the wall will probably be ready to go once all the tile with leaks around them are removed. It actually does not look as bad as it sounds. The new commode will go. The light fixture I bought for the kitchen will go in the bathroom. I think what I described is 'gutting.'

Cleaner was supposed to come to get the car title. I have no idea why she did not. Her daughter bought Tommy's car. But, the mother's name will be on all papers. She had a much more extensive surgery on her hand, so no telling how long it will be until she can help me again.

I received a text from creep. He said he searched for text I did not like. He said he sent it to me by mistake and he was sorry. He said it was for his girlfriend. He apologized again. I just read this as it showed up on window of flip-phone and did not reply. Hopefully, he will just go away. There were other issues.

Today, when I went out at about 9 am, it was very cool and pleasant--no wind, no moisture. I hear we are in for much cooler weather, more like it usually in in November. We still have a huge tree that is green.

I am excited about the new bathroom! Tommy admitted he was afraid of getting into the shower since he hoists himself by holding onto the shower frame. I will love washing my hair sitting down in the shower instead of bending over the sink since I am afraid I will fall trying to hold onto wet sink and counter.

Thursday, I will cook the cranberries I took from freezer. They will be our Thanksgiving cranberries. I use much less sugar than the recipe on the bag lists. The two packages I bought today are in the freezer for maybe Christmas. Saturday, I plan to cook pork loin and vegetables to eat and to share with neighbor who takes out the garbage can each week.

It is only two weeks until Thanksgiving. Unbelievable. How is the plan for cooking coming along. Anything cooked and waiting in the freezer like I have done?

Kudos to Tommy

I forgot what I wanted so much to cause me to have Tommy wake me at 8 am, But, I was out of the door before 8:30. I went in Publix to return the original Cheerios and the Public peanuts I thought were the bogo Planters Peanuts. I bought the Honey Nut Cheerios. The Planters peanuts were no longer bogo, so I let that go.

We tried to buy the screwdriver at the hardware store. I am going to take Skelli to ACE and get them to help me. The screwdriver size looked too large. I just need to get the batteries out.

After we came home, I realized I had not bought one thing we needed. Maybe we were still out and about. Soooo, I had to go back for one item.

I was in bed by 11:15 and probably asleep two minutes later. Then, I awoke at 3:15 and back in bed two minutes later. I slept until 5:30. Tommy had watched the Auburn game. They lost. He had gathered all the Halloween decorations from the yard, mostly hanging ghosts. He also washed a load of laundry  for me. He knew what I wanted, so turned the ghost decorations wrong-side out to dry the moisture. So, I need about 30 seconds to get those in storage.

Tonight, Tommy cooked a pizza. He had a ten-inch naan bread, found old spaghetti sauce, pizza cheese and a bit of leftover ground beef. It looked great. He said it was delicious. Later, I suggested he throw bits of vegetables on the next one. I suppose I need to chop onions and bell peppers, at least.

I had baked chicken breast, lots of tomato, and lima beans.

Tommy started eating lima beans. I am quite sure those were not cooked. He insisted they were. Tonight, I had some. They were raw and just heated. Gross!

Earlier, between the two of us, we got a 9 pound turkey breast in the oven. It was massive. I prefer a smaller turkey breast. The breast had lots of sage, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and a tiny bit of salt rubbed into the skin.

I took it off the bone and it is refrigerator to be frozen in bags in the morning. I wanted a boneless turkey but obviously got one with bone in. Tommy put it in the refrigerator on Monday, and it was still partially frozen on Saturday. I baked it with the giblets inside. The little bag was still intact when it was baked.

In Publix I found Ocean Spray 12 ounce package of cranberries for (sit down first) $4.99. I will not be buying at that price. Thankfully, I have a package in the freezer that I only paid less than $2 somewhere, not sure.

Sunday, we need to find a neighbor to witness our ballots. We will not put them in an outside box. So, Monday, we will mail them inside the PO. We made the deadline.

So, the day was quiet which pleases me. I now have turkey frozen for Thanksgiving along with sweet potatoes and

Tommy Works For a New Car Dealer

Yesterday's ordeal was over this morning, but I was shaky and felt like I had been punched in the stomach. So, I told Tommy I wanted to go buy a car. He said 'okay.' We almost did.

First, I had a return to Lowe's. I bought two things on the same card, yet only one shows up in their system. Annoyed here.

Example: I remarked to Tommy that the mileage was awfully high. The salesman is in the back seat. He said mildly and easily-No it is not too bad. I put my hand on his arm and repeated it and poked his arm with my finger. Still, he was okay with everything. I was crushed.

The guy did not like me. Or, was I too ugly for him to face. He stuck with Tommy. Even when Tommy was not near him and I tried to ask a question, he remained near the rear tire. He annoyed me. We went to a dealer. As we left without a car or hope, Tommy said he would not go to a used car lot, just a dealer.

We almost bought a Lincoln! It stunk. The guy said it had not been detailed. The car had been detailed.

So, we left to go to another lot. I wanted a little burger first. Tommy went to Arby's while I objected. As I ate the roast beef, low motility caused me to choke and throw up more. This was short-lasting because I quit eating after two bites. All I wanted to do was come home! We were in rush hour traffic, so it was time to come home.

I needed Tommy to latch my seat belt and I held bag under my chin with left hand and pulled the belt with right hand. He turned toward me, ignoring the car barreling around the corner right into his door area as he kept pulling around another corner. Both cars were trying to occupy the same space. I screamed "look" as he grabbed frantically for the seat belt, saying he saw it and could not reach it. He did not see the car. I said car! car! He finally stopped. It was at that point I determined I had had enough and wanted to just go home.  He had left his G7 monitor at home, so I had no idea how his blood sugar was affecting him. Tomorrow, we will go out again. Maybe we should just buy a car and not shop around. I don't know. He said we could get a new car. Two? He said we could.

We still have lamb for him and chicken for me, plus two salads from the Greek Festival, I suppose the Salmon Croquettes will be pushed forward another day.

I may give up trying to get a deal and buy what we drive that is okay.

Car looking is exhausting me. Do you find car-shopping to be draining?

New Angels

I attended the medical appointment for the lymphedema legs that compress my legs. The appointment almost killed me. It hurt so much. Mainly, it hurt my back trying to sit so the legs could go up my leg.

The young women were so nice, not nurses, just people who believed me when I said I was hurting and that the plastic hurt my toes just to touch my toes.

After that we left to go to Chicken Salad Chick. We passed the main Piggly Wiggly. I wanted to go in but I was too hurt and hungry.

We sat in the parking lot and ate. Then we headed home. I wish I cold walk better and go to Homewood often for the special shops like Cookie Fix. I could probably walk enough to counteract the sugar. Seriously, there are so many specialty shops, probably all too expensive.

Next was Publix. I bought almost 8 lbs. of bananas. I will, as they ripen, peel, cut in half and freeze. Take that dock strike!

I read that people are stripping Walmart of tp. Is that fear or reality, I wonder. Only one thing I bought was not bogo or on sale. Only one item that was bogo, and that I wanted was off the shelves, sold out--frozen broccoli. The price is okay when on sale, otherwise, not inexpensive enough to buy.

Shopping at Publix:

1 Drumsticks bogo

2 Ziploc Snaplock Snack Bags bogo

2 Publix cups, not bogo, going back

1 Swanson Chicken Stock, bogo

2 Publix Coleslaw Mix, bogo

1 Julienne Dried Tomatoes for Mediterranean Pasta

Jimmy Dean Cooked Sausage

3 Lipton Dips, 3/$5

2 Kraft Medium Cheddar Cheese bogo

1 Nestles Morsels

The bananas are where I can see them ripen and freeze them. I don't want them past their prime when I freeze.

Okay, more not bogo items are here. I was mistaken.

I took a nap from 4 pm to 8 pm and felt groggy and disoriented for about two minutes. I thought it was morning. Now, I just feel rested. We are going to get my 'legs' on me for an hour. These two young women were so nice and helpful. I feel so lucky to find one more place that believes me and works to help me. Everything I told them was met with knowing nods and tips for living better and bringing down swelling.

Tonight, TV was all PBS for us. We both enjoy these programs.

Tommy was eating leftovers when I awoke. So, I am eating leftovers, too, at 10 pm. I will have salad with chicken breast. I wish I had another meal from Chicken Salad Chick! Salmon croquettes are moved forward. No problem.

Today was exhausting, but very productive moving me toward better health!

Even though people are stripping the toilet paper and paper towels from shelves, on TV I heard these items would not be delayed.  I knew that, so did not buy any. Of course, these people are creating artificial shortages! Some of the things I bought are not necessities, but maybe a good sale for holidays. Bananas are the only thing I bought in case of a shortage.

What are you buying in anticipation of the strike?

Have you thought about a shortage of pharmaceuticals?

Toothbrushes

We all have them. Most people have more than one, maybe one in a purse or glove compartment, one in a suitcase, one never opened, waiting in line for use.

My favorite toothbrush that I received from my dentist was discontinued. The dental office did not know why. I took it upon myself to discover why. It turns out the machine that made the GUM toothbrush I loved broke. They were going to fix it. Nope. Six months later, the company decided not to repair the machine, just discontinue making my toothbrush. RATS!

The dental office found another one they recommended and to give to patients. It hurts my gums, but they had given me two, so Tommy got those, even the one I tried. I read about another one at CVS--Oral B Sensi Soft. It is wonderful. Tommy bought me two to try. They are over $9/2.

I found the same thing on Amazon for a little over $4. One tore up when I stuffed it back into the packing. So, I ordered two more. Then, I promptly lost the package I bought at CVS.

Today, I saw a little bit of a white plastic bag peeking from between a couple of white envelopes. It was the lost toothbrushes I bought from CVS. Okay, I have about five new, never-used toothbrushes.

I have two old ones like I like in Tommy's bathroom drawer. I took it. He did not care since any toothbrush suits him. Then, I found another two of the GUM toothbrushes in my stash of extra stuff. Then, I found a used one in the glove compartment in a toothbrush holder.

I think there are also about 8 toothbrushes in active use. It is ridiculous, I know. It just happened somehow. I never have had more than two toothbrushes in use before now. They were already open when I counted them. I have one by my chair, one at the sink, and one by my bed. They all three travel between locations. lol. Silly toothbrushes.

Years ago, I gave all three children, sil, dil, and four grandchildren free toothbrushes. Free to me or about a quarter apiece. I don't find those bargains now. But, for the ones I use now, I never intend to be without this new brand--Oral B Sensi Soft--00410-10430. If I ever seen the GUM Sun again, I will buy more of those.

Toothbrushes were passed out to lots of people for a few years. It makes me anxious to think people don't have toothbrushes. I feel obligated to help people who need them.

Okay, enough said about toothbrushes.

I almost never throw away a toothbrush, storing them under bathroom sink and kitchen sink to clean.

Today, the cleaner cancelled. She needs a new tire on her car. I have a list of things for her, nothing hard or lengthy. The list will keep things moving along. I thought we did not remove all the food from the freezer to sort, but she and Tommy say we did.

This afternoon, I suggested we go somewhere to get out of the house. We tried to see the dogs but could not. Then, we went to look at a car in a closed car lot. I thought car dealers were open on Sundays. Then, I found a dress that I hope works, and little pink purse so I don't carry this heavy red one. It can be a fanny pack or crossbody. And, we got Tommy's milk. Plus, he requested serving spoons without slots. I got another pack of  microfiber cloths. This way, I can fill two or three of the lingerie bags with dirty cloths and wash them separately in the washing machine in cold water. I did not know until lately that they should not be washed in hot water or dried.

That was our big excursion for the day. The day was bright, beautiful, and very dry.

I finally got the fertilizer ready for Tommy to use on flowers and blackberries. so he needs to water with just water today.

Do you ever use Miracle Gro?

Do your gums seem to hurt with some toothbrushes? Are they sensitive like mine?

What is your favorite toothbrush?

Wednesday, Ads, Movie

Wednesday, we both had a doctor's appointment. The podiatrist trims our toenails and tells us how our feet are doing. Tommy is treated to a vibrating trim. I hate it because it hurts me so. She just gouges, pulls, and digs out the ingrown toenails. I highly approve. Once that was done, I went to Lowe's to talk to someone about an electrician. She was not there.

As soon as the doctor came into the room, she said, "Oh, you have lost weight!" No, I had not, not one ounce. It was the outfit I was wearing, the striped pants and top. They are tighter than when I bought them five years ago. Still, they are loose and flattering. I was pleased and flattered by her comment. Now, I need to lose weight. I have an event next year where I would prefer to be lighter

While walking down an aisle in Lowe's, I saw a man approaching that looked very capable. I stopped him and spoke. He said he was a carpenter but could put in a light fixture. Daddy could safely put in a light fixture, so I was going to let him. Tommy said no. So, the search is still on.

I bought a medallion to put above the chandelier in the dining room. Tommy has an Auburn banner that needs a dowel to hang. I cannot seem to find a ready-made one. I can stain it, make a notch on each end, and attach appropriate cord to hang. He has had it ten months just folded up. And, he got to pick out his gift with no input from me.

Today, the heat index was over 100F at 7 pm. I need to paint the mailbox and have the urge but not the motivation with the heat so high. There was no rain today, thankfully. I want to paint the post black and the box red. This is in prep for Christmas. Besides, no one else has a red mailbox on this street or anywhere nearby.

For lunch today, I ate a portion of the bscb with the last half of a tomato and a bit of MW. The tomato chopped was almost a cupful. Amazing. The tomatoes are huge and juicy. Also, I had a half of a banana. I was satiated until 5 pm.

We cooked 6 bscb and I froze 3. We prepared carrots and potatoes. He put them in the chicken broth in the crockpot. Almost an hour later, they were still hard and we were hungry. So, they are in the oven now.

We collected the three ads today. I shopped in The Pig and Publix. I found Special K cheaper than bogo at Public by shopping at the Pig. They forgot to give me my 5% discount for being a senior and shopping on Wednesday. I bought very little--Special K, bread, and discounted salad that looked very fresh. I bought bananas and ice cream at Publix.

It hurts Tommy to get in and out of the car so many times, plus walking in the store. I felt well, plus my hair was clean and I was dressed to go inside.

We will go through the ads more thoroughly and make a list to shop further. I need to find bscb at a price that suits me. I still hope to find it for $1.99/lb. We still have some in freezer, but I need to keep the supply stocked.

Inside The Pig was shocking. Almost half the store was torn apart while they are getting it ready for sharing the store with Ace Hardware. I wonder if they will cut down on the number of food items they will carry.

Dinner tonight was chicken, carrots, potatoes. I also had five strawberries.

Tonight, we watched The Manchurian Candidate, a real shocker. Have you ever seen this movie?

Feels like temp on Thursday will be between 105F and 110F. Wow.

The Pig in Cullman has an Ace section. It is not nearly as large as the one here.

Did you ever see a man in Lowe's or elsewhere who just looked capable?

Do you shop at a Piggly Wiggly where Ace Hardware is sharing the space?

Are you always on the lookout for cheap protein of choice?

Amazon Prices

Sunday night/Monday morning, I ordered a Stihl mini chainsaw, 6". Tommy will use it on a dogwood tree that is half dead. A larger tree fell on it and broke it. The story is hazy. Half the tree is short and bushy, whereas the other half is spindly and lives. Only one half has flowers. It is ridiculous looking. I have no idea how much it would cost to have mower prune it away. But, we have got this.

Saturday, I looked it up. The price was something like $1,200. You read that correctly. This was the cheapest chainsaw I found. Others were upward from there. I have no idea what happened to Amazon. I had two things in the cart. Both were gone.

The chainsaw was $59, and I got a discount making it $40. So, we don't have to use this much to get our money's worth. He is strong enough to handle it. It is cordless/battery operated.

Sunday, we returned a blouse that did not fit, bought paper towels, three 70-sheet college ruled spiral notebooks. Looked for the Stihl chainsaw at Lowe's. Publix--milk for both of us, grapes, two more bags of coleslaw bogo.

We rarely use paper towels, so this 6-pack should last a year or more. The other day, we had no paper towels, so I had Tommy heat the last chicken nugget on a Kleenex that he folded. Well, the Kleenex was black and the burn smell lingered for hours! He did heat it for way too long. It was like a rock. We often used just a quarter of a paper towel. One day, I had him microwave chicken nuggets on a dishcloth. That seemed weird. But, it worked and we could wash the dishcloth.

In the afternoon I cut up two bell peppers, one bag for freezer and a lesser amount for the refrigerator. Then, while I napped, he ate. He said he used some tomato, onions I had chopped, and bell peppers to make a salad. He will eat things if I have it all cut and ready. Or, he will make a wrap if we have wraps.

I am still working, albeit slowly, on putting away stuff dug out when we decluttered. With the lamp in the kitchen, I can even see well enough in the kitchen to wash up the Tupperware I bought. I know there is nothing dirty on it to wash off, but I cannot stand and do things in the dark. Call me spoiled, but I like light.

The forecast this next week is rain every day. Hopefully, some of those days will just be spotty or not for our location. I have things I need to do!

Dinner--chicken, slaw. I will probably have slaw every day this next week, and that is a good thing.

Did you look on Amazon and find exorbitant prices on Saturday? I kept trying again and again to determine if I had the right Amazon. This $40 chainsaw was over $1200.

Hot Time Summer in the City

Yes, I bought one of these, a hat umbrella from Amazon. I sent it back. Obviously, my head is too big. I could get it on, but I feared my skull would burst like a watermelon with a rubber band around it.

I also bought two toothbrushes. One tore up taking it out of the box it was packed in, so I sent it back.

We went out today for a short trip to store. But, we ended up going across town to SAM's Club. We bought two 180 packs of 18 oz. disposable cups, double pack of Cheerios, generic Claritin, Vitamins for Men, gallon of milk for Tommy 16-pack of hamburger buns. THEN, we went to buy a piece of pizza and Coke. Yuck, they only had Pepsi, so we had a Diet Pepsi. There was no pizza today, so we had a wonderful hotdog. I only eat mustard on mine. Tommy ate catsup, mustard, and relish on his.

Then, we drove straight home, passing Jared's where I wanted to go. So, that is another trip we will have to make. I did not even want to go to Publix where we started out to go.

I froze the buns 2 in a quart bag. Well, Tommy put them in the freezer after I bagged them. Dinner for me was chicken breast with carrots, potatoes, and an apple. Tommy had meatballs, carrots, potatoes, and squash. Everything went into the microwave to prepare since it was all leftovers. Someday, I will have to cook!

Tommy washed and dried a load of clothes. I am picking up stuff from my tables, slowly cleaning bits from it along with continuing decluttering.
Ugh! It was 99F today. I wish I could hang clothes to dry.

If you go to SAM's Club, do you buy the hotdog and Pepsi or Pizza and Pepsi for $1.38 each--total for both with tax $3.02. Tommy says it is now less than when he worked there six years ago.

If you shop there, what do you get regularly?

Hot in your town?

Wasting Food and Selling a Car

The friend who wants to buy my car still wants it. I drove it today, and my back did not hurt getting in or out. Of course, my back was rested when I got in and drove it so little that my back was in good shape when I got out. Maybe I can drive it after all.

I sent her an email that I could not allow the car to go that far. I think I said they could bring their mechanic. The husband and wife are coming when she cleans. I don't roll that way. I can only handle one person at a time. This is the way I always prefer dealing with people. Otherwise, I cannot keep up with people doing their own thing and me trying to keep up. I cannot deal with selling a car and telling her what to clean.  Actually, the problem is she is going to help me sort and put away Christmas and other things. So, I need to be there and with husband during car looking.

I wasted food--my precious pot of spaghetti. Last night, I told Tommy I would put the spaghetti away when he asked what to use to store it. He had put pasta away. Today, about 2 pm, he asked me what to do with spaghetti sauce. So, it had to be dumped. I was so crushed because I wanted spaghetti, and not only did I get a second helping, it had to be wasted. Next week, I will make another pot.

Tonight, I wanted tuna. I had one boiled egg left since I did not make myself a deviled egg, well, two deviled eggs. I had about two cups of chopped salad. I put a Tablespoon of MW, the chopped egg, and a can of tuna, stirred together and placed on top of the chopped Romaine. It was delicious, and just what I needed.

Tommy had ham, kale, green peas.

I put on a huge bag of kale earlier. I could barely get them in the pot, yet after simmering with a bottle of water, they were soft and delicious, about two inches high in the same pan. I may have some kale later.

I have retained the 15 pound weight loss. I deliberately overate for about three days. The scales don't move. Doctor has not returned my call from 3 weeks ago. I am worried.

Today, we bought groceries at Publix.
a2milk was $4 for 1/2 gal. rather than $4.99 bought 2
white onion $2.12 @ $0.71/lb
Beefsteak tomato $1.92 @ $3.49/lb (exorbitant price/lb)
Nature Made Vit D3, 2000IU, 250 count
Had $4 coupon for NM Vitamins, and $2 Publix coupon
3 bananas $0.96
Welch Grape Jam $3.09
2 Lindt bunnies, 2 for $5.19

I forgot to buy apples for me. Tommy never eats apples. I eat banana, apple, and blueberries every day. We will put lots of my milk in the refrigerator before The sale goes off on Tuesday night.

We got the ads for other two stores while we were out but did not examine them for our cherry-picking trips.

I stopped at a yard sale today. I bought Keto for Life, by Mark Sisson with Brad Kerns, 2019 ed. It may not be any good, but it was only $1. I found a spaghetti strap top, pink sequins in rows, for $1. I plan to use this for Barbie dresses. Plus, I got a tiny buttery cake square for $1. On Saturday they will have new merchandise. I plan to go.

So, that was our day. Nothing much, all calm. All calm is a good day for me after the last two! Even the wind calmed down!

Do you dislike people descending on you when both people need your attention in order for things to go smoothly? Plus, I am paying one by the hour and she is involved with the other person? This is only in my home, since I have managed multiple when on other projects. I can handle two or more people in same location, just not in my home.

Do you ever feel sick when you waste food that is a favorite?

Do you eat Keto and why?

Never mind all this stuff below. I cannot get it to go away!

So Excited!

Delightful Little Finger Carrot: Petite & Sweet (thegardenmagazine.com)

I looked online for the ad for Piggly Wiggly. Found it. Pepsi products were $3.49 for the 12-pack if you bought 5. So, I was excited for Tommy. I went in so I could put the five 12-packs in the electric cart basket. No, not at this Pig. I bought four pounds of carrots and left sorely disappointed. The carrots were cheap, we like them, and we eat lots of carrots.

On to Food Giant. Tommy went in for the ad. We bought nothing.

Publix was our sweet spot. I had a list and told Tommy not to get certain items. Nature's Honey Wheat Bread was bogo again. Since we still have half a loaf left, we can still get this deal later in the ad week. He bought Philadelphia Cream Cheese bogo again, but the original like I wanted. I will use the 1/3 less fat version he bought for something where it is not evident. The mouth feel of the 1/3 less version is not good. Eggs were $3.71 for Grade A extra-large. We needed eggs, so I thought Easter would bring a good price. I suppose this was it.

Yet to get for various reasons, but bogo at Publix: Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup, Cheerios, bread. Red potatoes are 5# for $3.99. Tommy said we have plenty of potatoes. Maybe by next Tuesday, we will need potatoes.

We sat at green shrubs in a parking lot and had a chicken snack.

Then, we stopped at Walgreens for a prescription for both of us. There was a wait, but it was bearable.

We arrived home just in time for Tommy to see Jeopardy. We both love it.

While I was waiting for Tommy in Food Giant and Publix, I managed two fruitful calls. I have an appointment with dermatologist to have growth removed below my eye. Oops! I forgot to make an appointment at the same time for Tommy. I called friend for more info on storm door she said gave her friend fits, trying to keep it repaired. I try to make my waits in the car count.

Moreover, I slept well last night, and the day was beautiful, dry, and only had a slight breeze.

After we watched Jeopardy and 30 minutes of the news, we went outdoors. I sowed the Cosmos seeds in a pot where something died off over the fall and winter. If it comes up, it comes up. I have pink Alyssum to plant anywhere there is a pot that looks dead. We may have two flowers in the same pot. Then, there are the carrots. The seed packet says,"12" pot, container variety." We do have empty pots and potting mix. I still want to get cayenne to grow and make pepper jelly.

We went out together to garden...lol...ten minutes of sowing flower seeds and more for carrots. We are such great gardeners. I lost the carrot seeds before we went out. I wanted to sow the allysium. As I opened the package, I realized it had been opened before and was taped. I shook out two seeds. TWO SEEDS. So, where and when did I sow the rest. I decided to sow the Cosmos in the same pot. Why not?

There were still bits of root and plants above ground when I sowed both those. I used a gardening fork to pull out some of the dead growth above ground. We will see what happens.

After I could not find the seeds, I searched high and low. I even shook out my day planner. Tommy helped me search by using a flashlight to shine under the footrest on my chair while I held up the quilt. We do this all the time. Not there. When we came in, he wanted the other remote. I did the same thing, putting up the footrest and holding up the quilt. He saw the remote AND the carrot seeds. Mostly, I had searched on the left side of my chair. The seeds were on the right side! I have decided I will put the seeds on toilet paper to get them into the 12-inch pot without spilling them or hurting my back.

I put a fake snake over the flower seed pot. When I plant the carrots, I will put a snake over that, too. I don't want birds to have carrots seeds for a snack.  Have you ever planted Petite Sweet Little Finger carrots?

It has been a pleasant day with lots accomplished except for planting carrot seeds. We have heard nothing from the pest control company. Maybe manager listened to the phone call like he said he would and heard me being told someone would come Wednesday or Thursday.

Any advice about carrot growing? (other than the info under the carrots above)

How was your day?

BOGO Buying

Today was a rough day. I am sooo tired. Last night, I actually slept at night instead of all day. I may have partially solved my sleep problem. I started taking my meds in the morning instead of at night. Things like thyroid meds are supposed to be taken in the morning. As a result of this change, I am exhausted and my eyes will not stay open. So, like a sane person, I go to bed.

We had things to do and did not get to Publix until about 5 pm. UGH Never let me do that again. But, I did need things. Both of us needed milk.

BOGO items and final cost:

Peter Pan Peanut Butter 2@$2.05

Philadelphia Cream Cheese 2@$2.20 He got the 1/3 fat variety instead of the one I told him to get!

Nature's Own Honey Wheat Bread 1@$2.06 I will get another before sale goes off.

Edward's Chocolate Cheesecake 1@ $4.62. This jumped in the cart when I was not looking.

B2G1

3 Diet Pepsi 12 packs 2@$9.29

We needed:

Jello sugar-free Cherry $1.65

Hefty 2.5 gal.$5.75

a2milk two half gallons @.$4,99/each for me

1 gallon milk 1@$3.99 for Tommy

bananas 2 for $0.25/each  I had three at home.

Raincheck:

French's Fried Onions

Total $59.50 without tax

There is fresh produce, frozen, cooked vegetables, fruit. So, that is it for today.

Tommy had called Keith to mow. Twice. No response. So, I called today. He had not heard from Tommy and was confused. I sat right here and heard Tommy leave a message twice. So, no telling what happened, but the yard has needed mowing for a month.

Tonight, we cooked the eye of round roast with potatoes, carrots, and celery. Delicious. I forgot to have slaw.

Today, the day ended up with high, overcast skies. The day was bright, not gloomy at all. The high was in the 70s. We are preparing for a rainy day tomorrow.

I have frozen limas that I will use for succotash. The corn will be canned, but it will be good. I am planning to use frozen green beans for green bean casserole for Tommy. And, I need to cook the zucchini I bought this week. Remind me.

All day, I have wanted to call my two friends who are ill. They are actually too ill to talk, so I have not called. Tomorrow I will send each a note. It is all I can do. It makes me feel helpless.

I am going to be hanging Easter eggs in Tommy's Dogwood tree. That is all my decorating for Easter. Do you decorate for Easter?

Little to See Here Except for Surgery Results

Friday, I decided to go to a food giveaway. There is always good food we don't want. However, we never waste it. We took the food we did not want to a store and stopped someone in the parking lot and gave it to her. The person was grateful.

I could not tell if it was a man or woman. The figure was very tall and inordinately thin. The figure was rather androgenous. However, the tall soft boots with a stacked heel led me to believe it was a woman. The person had a very long scarf around the neck.

This was shocking as we drove closer. The person had most of the lower jaw missing, numerous scars, and still little clue to gender. There was a round plastic piece, about the size of a nickel on the jaw. I supposed it held things together. At the time and in retrospect, I assumed this was one of the drastic jaw surgeries that occur after cancer, usually caused by tobacco. I have seen the aftermath of these surgeries on TV but never in person. I fest for her. I was also thankful I never smoked. Of course, smoking may have had nothing to do with her condition.

I explained where we got it, how we did not want it even though it was frozen and good. "Would you please take it, and if you don't want it share it with friends or family or neighbors? And, if you don't want it, feed it to cat or dog or chickens. Please help us out."

She said in the softest voice, "You are kind. You are kind." I was moved. I could never have imagined I would have seen a person with this problem when I left the house.

What we kept: Three pounds of ground beef, 4 pounds of honey-baked ham (not the real stuff), slices of ham from deli, package of six bscb, loaf of rye bread, and4 nice rolls that just fit the deli ham slices, fresh greens stuff for sandwiches. All was frozen, so the ham is in the freezer. I will cook the bscb Monday or Tuesday. Tommy is enjoying the deli ham on the rolls.

I slept well on Saturday night, considering I did not sleep until 7:30 am. Today, not much has happened. I burned my grilled cheese! That is so annoying. Tommy cooked and chopped the ground beef with the onion I chopped. Now, I will make spaghetti.

Today, we started late for a ride. We checked to see if the guy in Bessemer had tomatoes to sell from his front yard. We may have gotten there too late. Then, we went to Publix to get Lysol wipes bogo and Finish. I think we drove through the park. Anyway, we came home and watched the news. So, nothing much happened today.

Hopefully, I will cut his hair tonight. He needs it desperately. Tommy is so funny. He needed to go to CS to get a rain check. He said he stood in line. Well, then he talked about too many people being in line and going away and coming back...still too many people, so he left and came back. No wonder he could not get to the CS desk!

We have nothing planned for the week because it will be rainy.

How did your weekend go?

What plans in or out of the house do you have for this week?

Bone Dry and Chilly and Tommy Falls

That sure beats the frozen precipitation and frigid predictions of the past few weeks. So, it is mid 50s and will be in 60s, so we are doing well in the weather department.

Today, when we went out to collect ads and milk for Tommy, the wind was mild and temps warm, especially as I was sitting in the car in the blazing sun, thinking I had ac on.

Last night, I was sitting in my chair while Tommy searched for a can of corn for the taco soup. I heard what sounded like cans falling and falling and falling. It takes me a bit to get up as I wait for the lift to lift me. I was terrified. Tommy was lying face down across boxes and spilled cans. After I asked him if he was hurt and what he wanted me to do to help him, I noticed something else. He was holding onto a file cabinet that was in danger of falling completely on its side.

Plus, lots of canning jars and boxes of rings were spilled all over. My Excalibur dehydrator was lying where it fell off the file cabinet.

Finally, he told me to straighten him up by pulling his shirt. I did and he righted the file cabinet as he came. Then, his feet were crossed. He cannot uncross his feet at all once they get that way. So, I did that even though it hurt him. Then, I tried to help by grabbing waistband of his pants and his belt and pulling him. Well, that hurt me. Finally, he had me get two canes so he could lift himself by putting hands on top and lifting himself up. All this was excruciating to me. I hurt for what he went through.

Then, he got up and said he was fine. He was not hurt anywhere at all. ME? My back hurts twice as bad as ever. Now, my spine hurts further up than my injuries cause it to hurt. Arms, shoulders, neck, and especially my hands. Over my objections he spent a long time righting everything. I wanted him to sit and relax a bit. I hope the Excalibur is not broken.

This is an opportunity! I have not told him, but we are getting some sort of furniture with doors for the far end of the dining room. Maybe he will allow a lot of the junk stored there to be tossed. There are too few cabinets in the kitchen, and we cannot access stuff we put in the bottom cabinets. Then, he insists on keeping the tiny table there on a long wall. So, doors in the other end of the dining room will not be handy because of the distance. But, it beats having to unload boxes of 100 cans to see into the box underneath. I noticed that this unwieldy situation has allowed some food to become very old.

Last night, I went to bed at 9 pm and slept until 12 pm. Then, I could not sleep until 9 am and slept until 11am. I also started feeling really ill. Not sure if it is reaction to covid vaccine or uti.

Through all of this, we have cleared out more Christmas items, baked cookies, gotten taco soup in refrigerator, and I am ready to cook chicken and vegetables in a bag. The deer are still in the carport.

Amazon tossed a box over the ramp. What is the problem? Maybe others are happy with deliveries in the shrubs and all over, but this is not getting it for me. Amazon has made it clear to me that this is not how it should be.

Supposedly, prisoners have the choice of execution method in Alabama. I wonder if they can choose a firing squad. Some people who die in prison are sent to relatives without organs. That is creepy.

Did say that I finally was able to reach someone at cardiology after the phone answerers not giving them a message? So, I have a day of tests scheduled which I am not looking forward to attending.

Okay, Tommy wants me to come and put stuff in the cooking bag. It's done, and he is washing dishes. He uses vinegar and Dawn to wash dishes now. I suppose I finally got 'germ theory' across. Once I teach him how to do something, he does a superb job!

Today, he washed and I trimmed a quart box of strawberries. I had him use the ground meat chopper on them and he made them mush. I was commenting and he said it happened suddenly. It will be fine.

I am still recovering from the horror of Tommy's fall and a slight temp, chills, and general malaise. I suppose by morning I will be better from the covid vaccine or worse from a uti.

I found a dirty penny Monday.

Tonight, we baked two small breasts and a few vegetables--carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, celery.

Tuesday, we talked about making a trip to Cullman just to shop for a car at the place where he bought his Rogue. It was a good shopping experience. So, we will try again. Maybe they will have two vehicles we like.

Okay, it is 8:30 pm and I feel awful, so going to bed now.

Did you feel ill when you had a covid vaccine?

Do you dread shopping for a car?

Monday Happenings and Covid Denier

Sunday night, I went to bed at 9:30 because I knew a nap in my chair was inevitable. I thought, okay, try bed and maybe you will sleep longer. Well, two hours later I was awake for hours. Then, I wrote the post which had no title.

I have been up since 5 am. Tommy was awake reading when I came in here. He could not sleep. So, I fear my watching tv has bothered him even though I watched it with the sound on 10 instead of our normal of 59-63 volume.

He did go to the bathroom earlier and pushed my laptop back onto my lap. I was napping and the laptop was sliding off. I need to start all over again trying to get through to the np at cardiology and the lymphedema place. Neither answer my calls. ???

I called cardiology. A woman answered right away. She was puzzled as to why I kept calling her. I told her the np gave me the number. She said she was in research and had nothing to do with the tests I needed. She was extremely nice and said she would help me. It turns out that I had an appointment that I was not aware of. So, this is progress.

Also, I now have a mammogram appointment.

We need to stock up on my milk that is $3.99/half gallon and each need to mail something at PO. So, phone calls, milk, and PO are the biggies for today. Plus, we need to cook. We did not.

About 1o'clock, we took off for Publix so I could get my three half-gallons of milk, and a couple of other things. Plus, we took the latest Covid vaccine. We mailed our letters at the PO. Overall, it was a fruitful day.

A woman waiting outside the pharmacy had to interject herself in our medical decisions. She declared how the Pfizer vaccine was the worst, Pfizer was worst company for drugs, and "oh, are they still giving vaccines? She annoyed me to no end. She regaled me with tales of her experiences and why she never gets any vaccine. She tried to convince me Covid was a hoax, that people died from the vaccine, not covid.

She had so many friends who had bad reactions, rashes, ill with whatever. I told her I had friends who died from Covid. She doubted it was Covid. How annoying!

I kept talking back to her, asking her among other things if her minister the one who told her this, did she vote for Trump? Then, she praised Trump. Neither of us had overtly aggressive tones. Tommy said I was antagonizing her. Finally, she got whatever she came for and left. As the pharmacist was giving me the shot, she returned to "apologize." Right! /s No, she was just getting her last shot in.

Finally, I told her to go away because I was busy. Then, she said that this is why people cannot talk. "I just wanted to apologize." She finally left shaking her head in pity for me and muttering. It is not like we could leave her talking since we were waiting where we were told to wait. When she returned, I was interacting with the pharmacist who was administering the vaccine.

The sun was so brilliant today that we had a hard time seeing. On the way home we were facing the low afternoon sun. Of course, when we came into the house, it took my aged eyes a long time to be able to see. I must get prescription sunglasses.

At home, we settled down and eventually ate leftover bits for dinner. Tommy had the last of the chicken, potatoes, bites of macaroni and cheese, salad, and squash casserole. I had goulash and squash casserole and salad. Tomorrow, I must cook. How disappointing!

I had an hour and a half nap. I always wonder how my night will go. We will see.

How did your day go?

Have you bee trapped by someone so annoying?

Have you had your mammogram?

Sleep Reversal

Sure, this is a great storage box for my wreath. It is for a 24' wreath. I suppose mine is that size since it fit the Sterlite container. However, the was the hardest thing I have tackled in a long time. If I did not have it on my lap, it would have been easier. Since I left the velvet poinsettia leaves clipped onto the wreath, I had to make sure they were all inside and would not get squashed in the two pieces of the storage. I am certainly glad I paid $6 instead of $19.95. I do have a wreath in storage with the perfect sized cardboard box.

There is still a stack of Christmas stuff, a small stack that needs to be tackled. Maybe before Valentine's Day, I can get it done.

Tonight, we had the pork chops and potatoes I was going to freeze. I cannot eat the potatoes and enjoy them as they have such a sharp taste that it makes my jaws hurt. Tommy says they are not a problem. So, I had the chop, a few bites of potato, and a salad. He ate my potatoes with his potato and pork chop.

The receipts from grocery trip are somewhere I cannot find. However, I bought 4 bags of frozen broccoli florets bogo, one onion, halos. I picked up the bag of Halos and was shocked at how heavy the bag was. Plus, I was puzzled as to why Halos kept coming. Now, I had emptied a little box. I was so tired that an empty box puzzled me. When I got home, I realized that I had bought five pounds of Halos, more than I had ever bought. The box should have come with me. I only bought one onion because the last bag I bought was full of onions that were green inside with no clue when I bought the bag. The florets were as cheap as fresh broccoli with no chance of going off before I can use them.

Tommy assured me he won't be helping me eat the Halos. I have seen him eat three at a time. I have no idea why he is not going to eat these, too. I only bought one navel orange for me and ate it as soon as I came home. It was just starting to dry out! But, the pith was delicious.

Thursday, Tommy browned a package of ground beef and drained it. I put on an 8 oz. package of large elbow macaroni, and opened two cans of unsalted chopped tomatoes. One had basil and two other herbs. I combined the ground beef, elbow macaroni, and two cans of unsalted tomatoes--Goulash. We ate it with shredded cheese. I have not made this in 30 years. It was so delicious. We still have leftovers for one person.

I bought squash to make a squash casserole and cannot remember the recipe. I found some online that had everything but the kitchen sink. Not what I want. One day, I tried to remember, and the result was awful and dry. I think I used the wrong kind of cheese. So, I bought different cheese.

Good news! Friday night, after having been out of the house for six hours, I went to bed at 10:30 pm. Of course, I awoke at 4:30 am, got up and went back to sleep in my chair at 9 am. Then, I awoke at noon and figured I had seven hours sleep. Good deal. I know it is not an ideal sleep pattern, but at least I am not awake all night and asleep all day.

My sleeping problem? I need to watch something funny to relax. So, I am going to get a cd of Third Rock and a cd player. We can watch this early instead of my waiting until 2 am. Laughter relaxes me. I might get Frasier and Mike and Molly, too. Tommy has boxes/cases of VHS tapes and no tape player. We need something to play those, too.

We went to the pharmacy to pick up two meds, one for each of us. My prescription was ready. So was Tommy's. He was just going to pay for it when I reminded him to ask the price--$70 for his insulin. This is the third time he has discussed this at the pharmacy. He almost went ballistic, and he is never upset with people. Well, he keeps it under control except about this. He was punching his finger toward the tech behind the window as he fussed. I told him to have her get a pharmacist. It went better after that. Finally, it was $35. His doctor refuses to write it so he gets the lesser price. So, pharmacist has to adjust the amount dispensed to make it $35. This is an ordeal.

Next week will be a good week because the temps are about 50F and it will be dry. We have had to use the ac this week.

What's happening with your weekend?

Do you like goulash?

Jesus and John Wayne

 Noon Wednesday.

The plumbers have been here for over an hour. We are getting a new commode. This one is only two or three years old. The jets in the bottom of the commode are clogged, so that the least bit of solid will not go out unless the commode is flushed up to six times. The water on the floor is from a worn-out gasket between tank and bowl. The alternative to purchasing a new commode was as expensive as the new commode. The bill today was $800. On Dec. 28th it was $389, so right at $1200 in less than a month.

We agreed to get an American Standard last time in order to get it done and over with. Well, this time, I told him we only wanted a Kohler. He is not going to want to replace this commode in another two or three years.

He abuses commodes! He will listen to me from now on.

On Tuesday night, I lay down a little after 6 pm. I told him to wake me a little before 7 pm. I really wanted to watch The Night of the Hunter. I was motivated to get up. Well, he called me at 7:30, 8:30, and 9 pm. I awoke at midnight with 6 hours sleep. It is noon on Wednesday, and I have still not slept. Ugh! This is a problem for me. Of course, I have nowhere to go.

They have the water off, installing the commode, so I cannot eat what I want. I had tuna salad with no eggs. I washed the celery with bottled water.

Thursday

I was exhausted yesterday. I took a long nap right at dinnertime, sleeping for another six hours right before bedtime. So, I slept none on Wednesday night. Today, I lay down at 2 pm and got up at 4 pm all on my own. Maybe I will be able to sleep tonight. I certainly need more sleep.

The guy who put the sealer around the base of the commode left the product smeared all over the floor. I have no idea how to get it off. It does not matter since I cannot get down there to get it off. The first time I sat on the seat, it creaked, so I wonder if it is breakable! It continues to creak, certainly not Kohler standards.

This weather is wonderful. It has been 68F for hours today or above. Of course, as soon as I arrived at Publix, it started pouring. Thankfully, it was only sprinkles by the time someone brought me a cart. Everything I went to buy was bogo--frozen broccoli florets, Chobani low-fat Greek yogurt. Bread and bananas were not on sale. My a2 milk was on sale, but will get that another day--$3.99 for half gallon. We did not look at ads yet. Nor did we collect the ads from The Pig, and Food Giant.

I just received a book I ordered--Jesus and John Wayne--How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation.

"Jesus and John Wayne is a sweeping, revisionist history of the last seventy-five years of white evangelicalism, revealing how evangelicals have worked to replace the Jesus of the Gospels with an idol of rugged masculinity and Christian nationalism―or in the words of one modern chaplain, with “a spiritual badass.” from the back of the book."

It looks to be a page-turner. Have you heard of this book?

The weather prediction tonight has temps in 50s next week and NO RAIN? I can handle that!

Rubber Chicken Was Here

Written Christmas Eve

I got no cooking done until Christmas Eve on top of things I wanted to do or have Tommy do. The menu was going to be Turkey, dressing, giblet gravy, green bean casserole and some sort of potatoes. I ended up adding zucchini in olive oil and garlic in the oven and sweet potato pie. We have both been working on this.

Turkey is done, and off bone in refrigerator and freezer. Eggs boiled to chop in gravy. Sweet potatoes are baked and out of skin, and spices are out to make it all into a pie. Stovetop Stuffing is sifted through colander to get the salt out. We may eat late on Christmas. The pie and green bean casserole and zucchini will all be cooked on Christmas Day.

The count of Ziploc needed to be done. I will buy them reduced the day after Christmas, so I don't want to duplicate thing bought in 2022 and not used. While I was getting the bag from back bedroom, I bent over and saw an Easter tote bag under the sewing machine cabinet. Cleaner who was so good and moved away put it there. The Easter tote held 14 cans of tuna with date of 2025. Thankfully, it was not old date. Good news all around there. There were 6 gallon-storage and 5 quart-freezer. Now I know what to buy.

Today, I bought two more large jars of peanut butter bogo and two almost quarts of Miracle Whip since the ad was not going to be good when Publix opens the day after Christmas. Well, had bogo rain check on MW, so not urgent like the pb. Tommy complained loudly when I bought two large jars of pb. Today, he said nothing.

Since I have never seen You've Got Mail, I am watching that right now. Fun! Tonight, we watched Home Alone, again, maybe fifth time this season.

I have heard nothing from crazy cleaner. I did see the woman who referred her. She is still apologizing to me. Tommy locked his car for the first time ever. He checked my deer to see if they were okay on morning after threats.

Sunday, I sprayed my bluebird again. I still cannot find the cardinal! There were a few Christmas decorating items I kept muttering about wondering where they could be. Sunday, Tommy told me there was one more long box like the wrapping box in the bedroom. WHAT? I suspect all the items I have been missing are in there. However, it is late Christmas Eve right now, so they won't come out. Maybe I will just go look to see what is in there. I never found the stockings, either. Oh well! Too late.

Tommy is doing things in the kitchen, like taking turkey breast off the bone, getting rid of bones, saving broth. He is a gem. It hurts by back so to stand.

The tree is lit, gifts are under the tree, led candle are on as are the pillars. The poinsettia has lights on it. Candy dishes are full of ornaments...lol. Reindeer lights just went off. It's raining. House is warm and smells like good food.

Written Christmas Day

I awoke 1 pm because, even though I went right to sleep, it was daylight before I went back to bed and slept more.

We made dressing with more herbs and minus salty residue in box of SS removed with help of colander. Zucchini are in oven and ready to come out. Pie ingredients are out to assemble. Gravy and green bean casserole are not even started. He saved the turkey broth without me asking. So, that will go in gravy.

We opened gifts. I am wearing the gold necklace from Jared's. He mildly was interested in the box labeled windchime. He laughed and liked the rubber chicken with Auburn attire that was wrapped in the windchime box. He unwrapped his huge Auburn flag, admired it and looked like he was going to put on his Auburn shirt. Great Christmas so far.

On the website the chicken is described as a dog toy. Tommy pointed out that a a dog could choke on the fabric shirt. It would be a very noisy dog toy.

Tommy is funny. Considering he has no prior cooking experience or knowledge, I can understand his gaps. He often forgets things I tell him, too. He was getting out all ingredients for the pumpkin pie. He noted to me that even though the recipe called for Carnation evaporated milk, all he could find was Pet. I have told him that Pet is better, better quality, fewer ingredients, and the only evaporated milk I will use. I offhandedly told him the whole thing again, and that Pet was what I used.

As It Turned Out

Finally, I decided the pie could wait until another day. I will also get gravy tomorrow. We had baked enough sweet potatoes for pies and eating for a few days.

Christmas Dinner: turkey breast, dressing, sweet potatoes plain, green bean casserole, zucchini, jelled can of cranberry sauce. It was delicious. We each only had a moderate helping. And, I needed a long nap. We forgot the brown n serve rolls, but those can be used another day.

Christmas was a great day, great success, happy day. I finally sent Amazon egift cards to grandchildren. I slept well, napped well.

How was your Christmas? Lights? Food? Family? Fun?

Now, I cannot comment on comments unless I sign in with Google. If you comment, I will reply, maybe on tomorrow's post. Right now, I have to nap.
