At EDP, we believe innovation is essential to build a more efficient and resilient energy system - and this program is a catalyst that connects us to bold ideas so that we can create real impact together. If you have a game-changing solution ready to scale internationally, apply until January 31 👉 https://lnkd.in/gFDMQM8d. #EDPWeChooseEarth #FreeElectrons2026

  • Energy transition isn’t just about generating clean power - it’s about making energy work smarter. Thermal storage shows how innovation can turn flexibility into real impact. One example is our partnership with Rondo, through which we have integrated one heat battery of 100 MWh at the Heineken factory to optimise energy use, ease pressure on the grid and unlock greater value from renewable sources. Because building a more resilient and sustainable energy system means thinking beyond today’s energy needs and designing for tomorrow’s. #EDPWeChooseEarth

  • The term clean energy refers to energy sources that are produced without harming the environment, with renewables such as wind, solar and hydropower leading the way.  As the world continues to change at pace, educating people about clean energy is essential.  To mark International Day of Education and International Clean Energy Day, we invite you to reflect on its impact.    Choose an option below and tell us why in the comments.

  • It has been 50 years since we began bringing energy into people’s lives. What started as a national utility in Portugal soon became a journey defined by bold choices, innovation and a clear ambition to go further. The 70s and 80s marked the foundations of who we are today — from our first steps in electrification to the early decisions that set us on the path to becoming a global player in the energy transition. Milestones that may seem obvious now, but that at the time helped shape a new energy future. This is where our story begins. And if we did all of this in the last 50 years, imagine what we will achieve in the next 50. Explore the 50 highlights that defined our journey so far here https://lnkd.in/dC9FDMg7. #EDPWeChooseEarth #EDP50Years

  • From Davos, where the motto ‘A Spirit of Dialogue’ meets cooperation and action follows, we are proud to announce the launch, together with Schneider Electric, of the EDGE Transition, a global social innovation initiative supporting entrepreneurs who are shaping a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition. This announcement was marked with the participation of Pedro Vasconcelos, representing EDP, and Gwenaelle Avice Huet, on behalf of Schneider Electric. The program focuses on solutions with measurable social impact in underserved communities that: - Deliver clean, safe, and affordable energy - Improve energy efficiency - Provide inclusive training and employment opportunities in the energy sector - Promote environmental preservation and ecosystem restoration EDGE acts as a bridge between social innovation and the business ecosystem, providing incubation, acceleration, mentoring, and technical validation, with concrete engagement opportunities between sponsors and entrepreneurs to help strengthen, scale, and bring impactful ideas to life. We are now looking for three new sponsors to expand the program’s global reach and impact. By joining forces with entrepreneurs, investors, and strategic partners, we aim to ensure that no one is left behind in the energy transition. At EDP, we believe the energy sector is a powerful engine for global re-industrialization, competitiveness, and security. This week, at Davos World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, we took part in the debate promoted by the Industry & Energy Transition Initiative (IETI), a cross-industry effort to accelerate decarbonization while positioning Spain and Portugal as leaders of Europe’s transformation, and reinforcing Iberia’s role as a true green hub for the region. Iberia’s abundant renewables, talent and competitive energy prices create a strong base to strengthen existing industries and attract new green value chains. Unlocking this potential requires swift action through clear incentives, stable regulation, faster permitting, and urgent investment in energy grids. At EDP, we are fully committed to working alongside communities, public authorities and industry partners to accelerate the energy transition and help build a more inclusive, autonomous and competitive world. We would like to thank McKinsey & Company, all our partners, Enrico Letta, and Cristina Lobillo for convening this timely discussion and for their valuable insights in shaping a shared vision for a more sustainable and competitive future. #EDPWeChooseEarth #WEF26

From large-scale solar projects and stronger electricity networks to new partnerships for decarbonisation, hybrid and storage solutions, and EDP’s first agrivoltaic farm in Europe, each achievement reinforces our commitment to cleaner, more resilient energy. These milestones strengthen our purpose: to lead the energy transition through sustainable solutions, innovation and strong partnerships, delivering affordable, reliable and clean energy for all. As we celebrate our anniversary in 2026, let’s look back at what we accomplished in year 49. #EDPWeChooseEarth #EnergyTransition
