About

Welcome to the Ragtag Daily Prompt, aka RDP!

RDP was started by a ragtag collection of bloggers who weren’t ready to give up on the Daily Prompt when Word Press did back in 2018. Seven of us agreed to provide a prompt once a week, and we began on June 1, 2018. It didn’t take long to realize that working from seven individual sites and in time zones all over the world made for all manner of challenges! Sometimes (OH NO!) we mess up, but we take criticism well.

How it works.  A daily prompt should post every morning if you live in the Americas. The intent is to have them arrive at 9am Greenwich mean time. That said, this is a geographically diverse group of prompters, from Europe, the US, Canada, Asia and Australia, so flexibility is important. The prompters, their days, and their sites are listed here.

Monday:  Sgeoil

Tuesday: Martha, Summer is the Season of Inferior Sledding

Wednesday: Curious Cat

Thursday: Martha (for now) Summer is the Season of Inferior Sledding and Brian, Bushboys World

Friday: Lou, Louis N. Carreras, Woodcarver

Saturday: Punam,  paeansunpluggedblog

Sunday: drkottoway, KO Rural Mad As Hell Blog

If you follow this site, then you will automatically get the prompt for the day when it is published.

When you post on a day’s prompt, include the tags Ragtag Daily Prompt, RDP, and that day’s word, which will make it easier to search for your post.

A Pingback or link back is the best way to get your response to the day’s prompt to appear in the comments section.

To make a pingback or link back to RDP: Simply copy the url address from the RDP prompt you’re responding to and paste it in your post. Just make sure it’s a live link. You can also paste the url from your post in the comments for the prompt you’re responding to. That works great, too!

If you have any problems, leave a comment. Someone will help you.

Sometimes, for reasons that remain mysterious, your link or comment will end up in our spam folder. Likewise, if its your first time commenting, your comment will need to be moderated. After your first comment or link, future contributions should go right up. But not to worry – we are spread out over various time zones and one of us will likely be online, so your post should be visible soon enough.

Our name was suggested by Tracy, and a reader, Leaping Toes, of OhBorder got this website started in order to have an easier to use experience for prompters and writers alike. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This willingness to jump in and help is what makes this community so enjoyable. Most important — Without your participation? We’d just be a bunch of people posting random words. 😜 Thank you!
