I have spoken at length about my heartfelt devotion to Nicola Maria Roberts on this site so I will try and focus on the songs I have chosen rather than just gush about her but for the record: I live near her home town of Runcorn and I think it is an utter disgrace they haven’t erected a statue in her honour yet. Get it done Runcorn!

Seriously though, she may be one of the most underrated singer/songwriters…maybe ever? Even when she entered the TV competition that launched her she was a bit of an underdog despite being one of the few performers featured who could actually hold a tune. Thankfully the public saw her potential and voted her into the reality TV girl group that seemed doomed to fail despite the publicity machine behind them. During her years in the group…
