the rest of the week & today's 'Saturday Sale-ing'

The mystery night washer was 'The Wanderer' wandering quietly through on his way to reunite with his phone & mate, at least we know he's safe & contactable again for the time being.  He seems a bit undecided regarding which of his siblings he wants to move in with, weighing up the pros & cons of each I think.

Thursday morning is always a flurry of tidying so that the cleaner can clean & while she perform her magic in the afternoon, I do a trick of my own & vanish (I feel guilty watching her work).  This week Little Miss Independent & I headed out to pick something up on the other side of town & stop for some yummy late lunch, a browse through the amazing array of treats & treasures and a chat with the lovely Natasha at What-A-Treat-Cafe-and-Recycled-Clothing.  In between the two we stopped of at one of my favourite op-shops, Red Cross at Seaton, it is staffed by a wonderful group of senior ladies & gentlemen and there are always lots of awesome retro/vintage treasures waiting to be found.  It is also just around the corner from my Grandparents old house which gives me an excuse for driving by for a little reminiscing.

Which brings us back to Sale-ing Saturday.  Today we found a little church garage sale where some lovely senior ladies were selling home baked treats, I had a delicious afternoon tea of fresh baked scones, jam & cream mmmmmmm!!  We were a little late but I still found a few treasures.

'The Wanderer' turns 18, 'Caveman' leaves home and other things

Days have been going by in a blur of confusion here!  Since my last post the cave dwellers have packed up & moved on to a bigger & better cave & 'The Wanderer' has turned 18.  I think I'll do two posts today in an effort to catch up (gives me a chance to eat the fresh scones Mr Vintage purchased at a Church garage sale this morning).

Speaking of garage sales......despite a busy day with the movers & birthday boys last Saturday we still found time to go out for our regular Saturday Sale-ing excursion.  It was an extremely disappointing day's sale-ing - I didn't even fill a foot-well!!  Everywhere we turned there were yards full of pre-loved modern toys while I was dreaming of yards of vintage toys, vintage anything would have satisfied me!  But there was one little sale right before pie time that gave me a little something to smile about.  :-)

Happy 18th Birthday to Blake (The Wanderer)

 Love my Wanderer!!

In true wanderer style 'The Wanderer' wandered off again on Sunday (after calling in for some funding with a promise of repayment on Tuesday) leaving his phone at a mates house & the rest of the family worried about his where-abouts & safety (quite unnecessarily in his eyes).
Sunday also saw Mr Vintage off on one of his quick trips to Melbourne and me at the 'Caveman's' new cave helping them scrub the filthy kitchen.

Mr Vintage arrived home late on Monday evening breaking the drive by calling into a couple of rural op-shops.

ORANGE pyrex .....straight into the cupboard!

cute yellow teapot

tragedy....who covers LIME with that colour I don't dare describe!

He tried to get the fur-babies to keep quiet as he sneaked through with my Mother's Day present from them, he was caught in the act so I will not be getting a surprise from them on the day now!

Scales for my new work-space

So much easier to weigh parcels of pre-loved treasures on their way to new homes with these beauties than swapping between my kitchen & bathroom scales.

Wednesday was the day of the big ironing pile catch up, a marathon 7.5 hours!!  Half of that time was spent ironing vintage linen (tablecloths, runners, doilies, napkins, pillow-slips etc) so that it could be included in an up-coming Linen sale I'm planning for my facebook page, goin-2-new-home (starting on Mother's Day evening).  You can find me/my facebook page here

a taste of what will be in store soon

Wednesday night the dogs barked, something they rarely do, just after I went to bed at around midnight  (Jeff was already asleep). Next morning I get up & there is a t-shirt I've never seen before on the stove, the bathmat is on the floor by the shower, the soap has been moved, there is a towel on the edge of the bath that I know wasn't there the day before.....so I prowl through the house thinking perhaps Blake is here sleeping somewhere......nope......there is no note, just a t-shirt on the stove........

My afternoon tea of fresh scones, jam & cream is calling me.....be back later to post about my the rest of our week & some more vintage 'finds'.    :-)

changes happening & charity shopping

Lots of developments on the home front this week!

The Caveman & Cavegirl are packing up the cave & taking the Cave-parrot to a cave of their very own.  Not too far from the nest though, just a nice ten minute drive.  I'm feeling happy & sad at the same time.  It's past time for them to have some space to call their own & it will be lovely to see them become independent, not to mention the big room changes that will be taking place here, I'll have my games/family room back, my stock etc will be neatly stored in an orderly fashion in the bungalow out the back and Jeff will down-size his office/workshop from the bungalow to the cave.  I will miss them though - a lot - my nest will be empty!

The Wanderer arrived on the doorstep at 5am Monday, he's decided he wants to stay with his big brother & try to get a job here - the country just wasn't working out for him at the moment.  So he's been in & out for food & showers but is very busy catching up with mates right now - very important when you are on  the verge of turning 18.

Little Miss Independent has called in to visit a couple of times this week (admittedly I did entice her with gifts on one of those occasions).  Her man is home from the mines this week so we took them out for dinner, it was lovely hearing about their plans to buy a house soon - so exciting for them!
