10 Days

Brynlie is ten days old!! We took her to the doctor yesterday and she weighed 8 pounds 11 ounces! The girl is growing like crazy! I've already had to go through her clothes take out the newborn outfits that she doesn't fit into!! She is also 90th percentile for height.

And look who surprised us and flew out early! Grandma!!! My mom was supposed to fly out tomorrow, but since Brynlie came a week early, she switched her tickets so she could come out and help this week...and boy has she been a lifesaver!! She stays up with Brynlie at night, cooks, cleans, shops for groceries, runs errands... she's superwoman! I'm so grateful she's here!

Doesn't this picture remind you of the "princess and the pea"??

She is growing so fast and changing every day!!

Brynlie

Our beautiful angel arrived Sunday at 7:15 am. As you can see from the picture below, she is a healthy chunker, weighing it at a 8 lbs, 2 oz. 21 in. She has a full head of dark beautiful hair, and the chubbiest little cheeks. She is absolutely perfect and we are absolutely in love. So, for the story: Saturday afternoon I started having mild contractions and kept having them throughout the afternoon. I went for a couple of walks to get things going, and at 10:45 that night, my water broke. We headed to the hospital, were admitted at about 12:30, waited until 3:3o until the epidural (not by choice, there was only one anestesiologist there and he was in a C-section for over an hour) have never been more happy than when I got the epidural, and by 6:15, I was ready to push. We waited about a half an hour for my doctor to arrive, and I pushed for 20 minutes and out she popped! Richard said he about fainted because he couldn't believe what a big baby came out of me! I couldn't believe how quickly and smoothly the labor and delivery went. I feel so blessed! And I honestly do not know how people give birth without an epidural. Wow!

Oh my goodness, I love her so much! Welcome Brynlie!!

Finding the Perfect Pumpkin

What do you do when you're nearing your due date, done with work, and baby STILL doesn't want to budge?? Go to Huber Farms with some good friends and find the PERFECT pumpkin!! The past two days, Rich has been on fall break, and since our little girly is not budging despite lots of signs that have been giving us false hope...we decided to head up to Huber Farms and hope that walking around the pumpkin patch and riding the bumpy hay ride might get things moving...I don't think it worked, but it was still fun!

Rich, Keith, and Mackenzie looking at the baby goats.
We found our perfect pumpkin at the very beginning, and Rich carried it around on his shoulder the whole time...he didn't want anyone taking our pumpkin!
Haha, very funny...Rich said, "I wonder if the Huber Farms people will think you are trying to steal a pumpkin by hiding it under your shirt?" Then when we went to check out, the lady actually asked me (she was joking...I hope) if I was hiding a pumpkin.
On the tractor ride

Update: last week at my appointment, my Dr. ordered an ultrasound to make sure baby wasn't breech...she was definitely head down, but my amniotic fluid measured low, so she had me hydrate for 24 hours and go to the hospital the next day to measure again. This time, I measured just fine, and we got to see our little girl on the ultrasound two days in a row!! We were reassured that she really is a girl (I've been having dreams that she comes out a boy). Oh, and the ultrasound tech took measurements of her body and came to the conclusion that she weighed around 8 lbs 6 oz...I'm really hoping she was way off. Oh, and her chubby belly is in the 98th percentile...hopefully her head isn't that big! Can't wait for her to get here! I'm getting anxious!

Are we there yet???

I feel like a little kid on a long car ride...are we there yet??? Huh? Are we?? I'm so so ready for this little girl to get here! I keep having dreams about her big debut and meeting her for the first time and knowing that it's really not the first time...sigh. I just can't wait!
At my 37 week check up last Friday I was dilated to a 1 and 50% effaced. I've been having some pretty good contractions, but nothing regular yet...so we wait. And I rearrange things in her room, then I put them back, then I move them again...because of course she's going to notice if the throw pillow's on the left side of the chair as opposed to the right.
One more super exciting fact: I am DONE with work on Thursday. That's right...two more days, and I am done forever! I'm looking forward to this more than Christmas!
