Swinging swinging all the day

Brynlie LOVES to swing, and we have a little park right here at our apartment with swings just perfect for her! Lately it's been so hot and humid outside that we don't venture out much unless it's to the pool, but a couple of days ago the humidity was gone and there was almost a crispness in the air! So we headed to the park and spent the afternoon swinging and walking around. It was beautiful! I was so happy to go outside and not be immediately sweaty. It made me so excited for fall! But I thought about how premature that excitement was, so I didn't let myself be too excited, UNTIL...I went to Hobby Lobby and all their fall decor was out! I couldn't believe my eyes! (They also had Christmas stuff out but that's pushing it a little, even for me). So, here's to autumn that is just around the corner!

A piggy in the bathtub

Yesterday I got some teensy tinsy elastics and I tried doing Brynlie's hair in teensy tinsy pigtails. They look like little antennas!! I love them! I had to snap some pictures of her with her antennas in the tub last night.

I LOVE my pigtails!!

Here are a couple videos...yes, she has started pulling herself up onto her knees in the tub. And she's starting to get into everything! She was awfully quiet this morning and I found her in front of the TV, with the DVD player on her lap. Oh dear.
She's also started copying me when I make a popping sound. She does the same thing when I try and get her to say mama. Perhaps someday she will figure it out. Until them, I'm poppopopop.

I just had to snap these pictures while Brynlie was playing in her room. Isn't she cool!?
Last night we were rolling a ball with Brynlie and I took some videos...they're not the greatest of her crawling abilities, but you get the picture. Notice how hard Rich is throwing the balls at me...

A New Haircut and Pillow

So I took the plunge last week...and chopped my hair! I have had long hair for a LONG time, pretty much the whole time I've been married, but before that, my hair was always short. So I decided to go back to my roots :) and go short. It feels so good and bouncy and light. I think it will be short from here on out. Here's a picture:

I was talking to a friend the other day about new throw pillows--I love all the new pillows with textures: ruffles, rosebuds, etc. on them, but they are so expensive!! So I took some inspiration from pillows at Pier 1 and Target that I loved, and tried to recreate it:

I really like how it turned out, and it cost me nothing! I used fabric I already had (old napkins actually) and the white rosebuds are actually strips from one of Rich's old church shirts!

9 Months

I can't believe that on Saturday my baby will be 9 months!!! She is growing so much and changing every day! Just in the last week, She has cut her two bottom teeth, she has started to crawl, and she's learned how to get into a sitting position from laying down. With all these fun new things to do, she has also decided that she doesn't need naps anymore! (Oh dear!)

One of her favorite times is when dad comes home from school at night and gives her a bath. Here are a couple videos of bathtime. Check out how big she smiles when she sees her daddy!

Homemade from Grandma

Last week we got a package in the mail from my mom with this darling outfit inside

As you can see, Brynlie loves it!

She wore it to church on Sunday and looked SO grown up!

Um, yes, I think she looks a little bit like her dad.

Such a big girl!! Thank you oh so much grammy for being so great!
Also in the package was a beautiful crocheted sweater homemade by Brynlie's great grandma Thelma. It is a little big for her to wear right now but I can't wait to post pictures of her wearing it. It is so special!

I came into our family room to find Brynlie rolled up in the rug just laying there quietly. Random? Yes!

Happy 4th!!

We had a fun 4th of July weekend. We started off with a walk in the park. The weather was BEAUTIFUL--70 degrees! Then we came home and made festive crepes topped with blueberries and strawberries.
We spent the afternoon watching Toy Story 1 and taking naps :) After lounging we met up with a bunch of friends for a BBQ, sand volleyball, then we hit the pool when we couldn't take the heat any longer. After Bryn went to bed, we stayed up watching Toy Story 2--can you tell we're gearing up for Toy Story 3? (We have been working long and hard to get our free tickets from the boxes of Kellogg's cereals--I think we'll be eating Frosted Mini Wheats and Rice Krispies for the rest of our lives)
I had to take a picture of Brynlie in her darling 4th of July skirt from grandma Smith--so cute! Happy 4th of July!!

CHEESE!

Oh my! Brynlie's learning how to cheese for the camera!

A couple projects as of late:
Last week I made a throw pillow for our couch--I just used strips of fabric, sewed them together, clipped the edges, washed and dried it so it would fray, and stuffed it. It turned out looking sort of beach-y and cottage-y. I like how it turned out!

A dollar store find--perfect for all of Brynlie's shoes!

My friend Amber taught me how to crochet slippers--here's a pair I just finished for Brynlie. They are super easy so if anyone wants to learn, let me know!

Hope everyone has a fun 4th of July weekend!!
