Frustration in 25 Ways

I am sick with frustration, or maybe grief and fury. Whatever, it is eating at my essence cell by cell

Here is some of what is slowly killing me in no particular order.

1. Being told I was weak, stupid or mentally ill for I never stop the violence from johns and profiteers going on and on and on. Why did I not fight back – they would have. Why didn’t I just walk out – they would have.

2. Being told it was not sexual torture. How can it have been, when I was there willingly. I must just have a sick imagination to framed an equal exchange as torture.

3. Being made to speak in the language of rape and domestic violence, when it feels alien from my experiences. I speak in the language of human rights, of torture, of multiple abuse, the language of the enslaved.

4. Being told I was a sex worker – when it never sex and never work, but slavery.

5. Being told not to be too graphic – but hearing graphic descriptions of rapes of non-prostituted women and girls, seeing and hearing graphic torturing of animals – but please don’t say anything to frighten the horses about the hell of indoors prostitution.

6. Hearing for so many years – if it was so bad, how comes you are alive – not a suicide statistic or another murdered whore.

7. Knowing that most deaths of prostituted women and girls are not reported or even noticed – for it can’t be news, if it such a common event.

8. Knowing it was true what johns and profiteers said to me over and over and over. They could murder me at any time – for no-one gives a shit about yet another dead whore.

9. Being asked questions about sexual performance – when I know nothing but how to blank out pain, how to fake pleasure, how to obey the porn rules – how to stay alive when death is so welcoming.

10. Being that I must hate all men – when I just hate the men who make the choice to buy and sell women and girls for sexual wants. When I only hate men who make the choice to be violence to women and girls, and the choice to invent a class of prostituted women and girls to make sub-humans.

11. Being told I should understand and feel sorry for johns. Why should the tortured ever be made to understand their torturer. Why do I have to understand mass rape.

12. I say johns choose to torture, choose to rape, choose to place terror in each and every whore they meet – and others say what about the nice ones, it can’t have been all bad.

13. Then I say the nice ones were the worse – for it was mental torture. In their “niceness”, it appears to be chatting, to be less sexual violence – but always I was fucked, I was still just holes to be plugged, hands to make them feel like a king. If they were so bloody nice, why were they buying a prostitute and being part of a structure that was destroying women and girls world-wide.

14. Being told that what happened to me must have been illegal, like that has any relevance.  Legal or illegal, prostitution is always an open market for sadistic sex, for internal and external trafficking, for under-aged girls, for any racist hate, for access to producing cheap sadistic porn, for exploiting any and everything that makes women and girls vulnerable – all that matters is that is profitable.

15. To make that profit, prostitution must always be easily accessible to as many johns as possible. So prostitution is never truly underground, it just hidden from non-johns and those outside the sex trade. In other words, those who make a conscious decision to ignore all the violence and degradation of prostitution – so they can paint it as fun and empowering part of the leisure culture.

16. So, I told it does not matter that images of prostitution infiltrates all media and leisure activities. That TV is full of murdered whores, or happy hookers or whores who has wisdom beyond Einstein. That films have tarts with hearts of gold, whores saved by Richard Gere, and more murdered whores. That male novels have so much rite of passage of white young men getting their virginity taken by some kindly whore. That male painting have the whore as threat or some great fuck. That ads have “normal”  women dressed like whores to sell any and everything – buy our goods, and all women will be your porn-toy.

17. And I am told to get over it – just images, just fiction, no harm meant. When all those ads, paintings, novels, films, and TV programmes are more salt inside my trauma.

18. I am told off if I tell sick jokes about prostitution – when every time I laugh at the pain and horror that is inside of me, I am getting my power and essence back. I believe to laugh at hell, is to say you no longer afraid. Laughter is life.

19. I hear debates and pleas that prostitution would ok, if only it was made feminist. It can never be feminist to have a class of women and girls who only role is to brought and sold as fuck-objects. Don’t care if the managers are women, whether it is an independent co-op, whether the johns may be women – it still about power and control over the prostituted class. It still will be sex against the will of the prostituted – for it still comes down to profit. It cannot be made feminist.

20. I hear and I am told that women managers must be kinder and more understanding. Dream on, all managers in prostitution just care about profit and having an endless supply of “girls”  to be fuck-goods for their “clients”. Women and male managers use and use up the prostituted in the same way – only outsiders choose to believe females must be kind.

21. I listen to debates about the evils of capitalism – and always the sex trade is let off the hook. Place inside the nice words of empowerment, free choice and liberating – all the greed, the wastage of millions of women and girls, the sexual torturing and the hate is hidden. The sex trade is capitalism at it’s most savage and uncaring – but so often men on the Left say it just fun and no-one would in unless they want to.

22. I say men from the Left, men from the Right, religious men, atheist men, male student, businessmen, unemployed men, men of all cultures – lets say, most men everywhere don’t see any harm or problem with prostitution – why would they, it for their advantage to have easy access to a porn-toy wherever and whenever they want.

23. I open my mouth to speak some of the violence that those men put into me, put into women I loved, women who me told their truths, women who cannot speak now for their voices were stolen by death or too much mental pain – and it dismissed as just individual stories. That our truths cannot be proven, that we are too mentally damaged to be believed. Even as our voices are clear and stick to same truths over and over – we are silenced.

24. Always having our lives explain by academics, put into statistics to fit preconceived opinions, having documentaries made to frame us as convenient victims or empowered – all “facts” round prostitution are framed with as few words from exited women as possible. When our words could lead and teach a greater understanding male violence, how some men really hate females and how they lie to the non-prostituted about that. But we are ignored and dismissed as damaged goods.

25. To end, my endless frustration – there is the classic, there no point in wanting abolition, for prostitution is inevitable. Fuck that, so racism is ok then, so murder just coz you want to is ok then, so we mustn’t struggle to end poverty, war will always be with us. Prostitution is never acceptable – unless you don’t care about sexual torturing, don’t give a damn about mass rapes, that women and girls are nothing but holes to fucked until wore out. If you can justify prostitution – you are more than likely ignoring the extreme violation of human rights that is the bedrock of all prostitution.

Put the Blame On

I am sick of hearing, of being told that the reason I had such a shit time in prostitution is coz I was too mental or too weak to protect myself.

This is told to me and other exited women for our own good.

For don’t we know that prostitution is safe, or that it is safe enough, if the whore would just look after herself.

The violence is her fault, she is degraded when she could just walk away.

Damnit, blame the whore and make the profiteers and johns invisible.

Well, I don’t buy it.

It is the buyers and sellers that carry all the blame for all the violence and degradation poured into prostituted women and girls.

Oh, and I don’t let off the hook all those who walk on by as prostitutes are continually being tortured.

Let look closely at the concept of choice in the world of prostitution. Then we can place blame where it should be.

There is a very dangerous myth that for some prostitutes, especially indoors prostitution such as escorting – that it just an equal sexual exchange of consenting adults.

This is bullshit.

It is a john who is paying for full control and ability to do whatever sexual fantasy his money can afford. There may be a manager/profiteer who is supplying fuck-goods to feed any porn fantasy.

The prostitute is there to holes and hands, to the object who has no pain, no real emotion – just there to be fucked and to be tortured, and to look happy and “empowered” all the way through it.

That is not equality – that is sexual slavery.

See what a john really is.

Not some sad lonely man, not some youth discovering his true sexuality, not a gentleman who would rescue her if he can remember.

The john is no myth, no novel plot – he’s no damned film scenario.

From the point of view of the whore whose body was wore out by their violence and hate – the john is nobody and nothing.

Each time a john comes into the room, there is always fear.

The prostitute has no control whether the john will be sadistic or act the nice guy. No control over whether he be bothered to use a condom or not. No control over whatever sexual act he will do – even when it puts her on the edge of death or send injuries into her until all she do is be dead inside.

The john is utterly to blame if she is raped, if she is severely injured, if he makes the choice to do dangerous sex or torture her. Everything that is done to the prostitute is his choice – no-one has forced him to buy her.

Sure, johns love the role of the victim. The whore made me go too far, the whore push beyond my limits.

Bullshit –  the john is always aware when he is injuring her, he knows it is sexual torture and or rape, he knows she is only pretending it is ok.

For the vast majority of johns love the complete power and control of making her into dirt.

Even the so-called nice guys, are never nice, for they are still owning and possessing another human just for their sexual kicks.

A real man would not even imagine buying a woman just for his orgasm.

Every john is to blame for the violence and degradation that is the constant for the vast majority of prostituted women and girls.

No man has the right to buy anyone anywhere just for his wanking inside a live body.

I will write again about the profiteers, but this post is putting the blame firmly on the johns.

Without these cold-blooded consumers, there would no prostitution.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

I have been trying to rest, only it is very hard as I see and hear all round me, that prostitution is being pushed indoors.

I cannot know what to do, but speak my piece about my fears and sickness about this. There is so little else that I can do.

I feel that I am having to repeat myself over and over and over again that indoors prostitution is highly dangerous, that it is a perfect way to exploit the prostituted.

But however loud I speak out, however much I write in protest, however much I try to change minds and attitudes – it feels like pushing up against a granite mountain.

For it seems that speaking to power, when it comes to stopping the push for indoors prostitution, is speaking to the wind, hell to a hurricane.

To me, the greatest victory the sex trade ever had been making out indoors was safe.

This is not new. Roman and ancient Greeks disguised brutal brothels as temples, made whores into goddesses or priestesses – then it was painted as empowering and liberating, even as prostituted women and girls were the lowest of low of the slave-class.

It is not new. See the filthy and disease-ridden “houses” where whores were enclosed in Medieval cities – see the language and gargoyles that paint the fun-times men can have in these prisons for the prostituted. Look how all whores are just a playground for male violence.

It was never new. See the glamorous veneer of the courtesan. She is dressed only for the male view, her existence can only survive as long that view sees her as fuckable, as usable – as his private sex-toy that he may pass on to other men to gain status and power. She is not given the privilege to be fully human – just a doll that when old and “ugly” will thrown into the trash.

How can it be new. When every period had brothels, had whores lined up for rest and recreation in every war, had companions paid to look like the man is “normal”, had buildings full of sadistic sex, sex with under-aged prostitutes.

Prostitution is always placed indoors.

It so much better for pimps and johns, to have discretion, to have places where anything is allowed with money and the power that gives you.

Indoors prostitution has never been about the physical, sexual and mental welfare of the prostituted – especially not prostituted women and girls.

I see no evidence, except from those who profit from the sex trade – that the push for indoors prostitution is about the welfare of the prostituted.

Though I do see a desire to make prostitution invisible to public scrutiny, I do see a desire for the huge profits of indoors prostitution, I see a desire for johns to have privacy for any sadistic porn to be copy onto the bodies of the prostituted.

Indoors prostitution is about greed, violence, hate, creating a class of non-humans, slavery and a firmly shut door.

That is the way is has always been, that the way it is now – and if we allow it, the way it will be in the future.

Placing prostitution indoors is saying it is ok to sacrifice the prostituted.

You are leaving the prostituted no safety, no belief that anyone cares about them, no way to have a connection to outside influences and no memory of a life with hope.

To shove prostitution indoors is unforgivable – for it saying that the prostituted are never human enough to have the things that others take for granted.

The ability to live with safety from sexual, mental and physical torture as a normal part of their existence.

The ability to be more than fuck-holes with the right to a mind, to have dreams or to live outside the porn-dreams of others.

There is little or no romance about indoors prostitution.

Not when your body is fucked by hundreds or thousands of strangers – most of whom don’t care if it is painful, most enjoy degrading the whore, most have a rage against women that is poured into the prostitute.

Where is the romance.

Not when all the time there is fear of injuries, of STD’s, of mental violence, of mock murder turning into real murder, of having the money stolen by managers, of no recovering from rape coz the next rapist is waiting, of every hole in your body surviving by numbing itself.

That’s the glamour of indoors prostitution.

This is all done out of sight, shut away in privacy – so why would it be safe.

But indoors prostitution can means governments can tax the sex trade, means profiteers of the sex trade can supply any and all porn fantasy to the johns.

No matter how sadistic it is, no matter if means an increase in all types of trafficking, no matter if an increase of under-prostituted, no matter if the john murders the prostitute – for with indoors prostitution, everything will be sorted out in-house, and kept invisible to the public gaze.

Indoors prostitution has always and will always paint an image of being clean, safe, a fun place and so damned caring to its “employees”/goods.

Hell, we get jazz songs painting a fun image, Impressionist painters chasing the whore, endless male novels of how men become men by a whore fucking them, films of escorts waiting to be “rescue” by marrying some rich john, poems chasing or blaming whores, and on and on and on goes the male re-creation of the whore.

Little or nothing is written, sung, spoken or recorded of the violence that is so constant, that for far too many whores it becomes their only existence.

I want songs of all genres to have the sound of that deadness – have the inner scream that places the blame squarely on the johns and profiteers.

I want paintings with the blood, sweat, cold terror, semen in every space – paintings that show the repetition of no end.

I wants novels that words leap off the page of the terror of never knowing whether the john will want violence or eat away your mind by acting “nice”. Novels that are cold inside the dead essence of the narrator.

As a film-buff, I want films to show reflections of the slow murder of everything that make girl or women into the prostituted.

Hell, all I want is that the viewpoint of the prostituted is placed above the profiteers and johns.

It that too much to ask for.

I am terrified that prostitution will be made invisible by pushing it indoors.

Remember the hate and violence will increases if prostitution is out of sight.

Care enough to not to put prostitution out of your mind, just coz you not see that hate and violence.

Writer’s Block

I have not been able to write recently, for I have had very bad triggers.

Normally, I can write through and around the triggering, for it more than often is my background noise.

But this week, fear eat at my essence – for I was being by the voices of my managers/pimps.

I can shake off what happened to me physically and sexually, I can shake off that I deserved everything that johns made me do, I can shake off the mental violence they poured into my brain, I can even shake off the guilt that I am alive when so many good women and girls are dead.

But the mental abuse of managers is poison in my soul.

It is the voices that remind how you are nothing but a fuck-object to be sold until wore out.

The voices that say they care about your safety – then send you into sexual torture. Saying after it was a terrible mistake – as that mistake is repeated over and over and over.

The voices saying it your fault if it went wrong – you did not check if he was a bad john, you did not ask for help, you didn’t complain so really it can’t have been that bad.

The voices that call you “girl” whatever your age.

The voices you hear outside the room chatting and laughing as johns rape, sexually torture or attempt to murder.

The voices behind the camera filming cheap porn.

The voices taking most of your money.

Those are the voices that send me almost to my brink.

But – I am not their property any more.

I can only scream NO, NO, NO.

No, I was never a fuck-object. Sure, I may have been fucked close to death by so many johns, my mind loses count. Sure for them and you managers, I was nothing holes and hands – but that was never the real me.

I had dreams, I loved going to the movies, I had family members who to show their love for me, I love Arsenal Football Club, music follow me – I know that if I stayed alive, I would never again be fucked and fucked and fucked.

And if I did escape, I would record every torture, mental and physical, forced into me.

No, you did not give any heed whether I was safe or not.

I know now you managers were lying that they give a damn about my safety.

Safety means nothing when women and girls just disappear, and no-one talks about it. The only way to cope is to act as if they never existed – not allow the thoughts that you will be next, not allow that you cared for them even loved them. Just learn to be hard, and ready for the next john.

Now, every time I write or speak, I speak for those who the managers thrown away.

No, I could have done nothing to protect myself from the extreme sexual violence that the managers profited from.

The managers know those men wanted sadistic sex, wanted it in complete privacy and to have it as long as their money.

What protection is there when those who pretend to care about your welfare will ignore the beatings, the gang-rapes, the constant sexual torturing.

Tell me what good alarms, bodyguards, bad johns lists, health checks and kind words do in those situations.

There is no safety when huge profit is made from supplying “girls” for sadistic prostitution.

No, I was never your “girl”, even as a 14-year-old, I never belong to any manager.

No, I will never forgive or forget that you sit outside the room as I being tortured.

You may never grow a conscience – but you have the blood and guts of all the women and girls that sexually, mentally and physically tortured all over you.

To supply women and girls as fuck-objects to any man who has enough money – it to know there will be violence, there will be mental abuse, there will be torture, and there be the murdering of everything that makes that woman or girl a full human.

You managers hold complete and utter responsibility for destroying her essence – I don’t  give a damn what pathetic excuses you make for your behaviour.

No, I was never really part of your porn movies.

Sure, you will see my body in them – but my presence was never there.

How could it be – you were filming my sexual torturing, my state of extreme degradation.

It was profit to you, maybe even a laugh as well – but for me it was terror.

Maybe those films still exists – but I cannot allow myself to care for that way madness comes.

No, even though I hate that I had to do paid sex – you had no right to steal my money.

Not when my life was on the line.

So, to all managers I have known and all I don’t know – I hate you.

Hate that you profit from the destruction of amazing women and girls.

Hate that you pretend you are a caring “employer”.

Hate that you manipulate mainstream media to see as a fun character.

You are drowning in the blood and guts of all the prostituted women and girls who were destroyed for your ego, profit and non-stop hate.

A Change In Me

I have been in great despair this year. From despair, I have held hands with the realities of the terrors that I had to live through.

This has made me want to make a real change – a change not just of myself, but a change to force some real difference to stop the sex trade.

It may seem an impossible task.

Hasn’t the sex trade been ignoring voices of resistance from exited women for over 3000 years.

Hasn’t the sex trade the sex trade more money than the arms trade.

Hasn’t supporters of the sex trade always search for the Happy Hooker, and push away all words and images of violence and degradation.

It is that that is against anyone who speak the sex trade – especially exited women.

But I cannot let that stop me.

Not whilst I have in my body and mind the knowledge of the discarded women and girls.

The prostituted women and girls raped so often, with such efficiently that she loses words to fit her experience. She cannot named it as rape, not even abuse – just that is the only role she can be.

I feel I need a change. A change in language.

Do not speak of rape – don’t even say multiple rape. That is not very close.

Speak inside the language of torture – torture repeated and so regular, that survival is to be the living dead.

Read survivors of concentration camps, read words of soldiers in unwinnable wars – read of places where humans are trapped and made to act like it really doesn’t matter.

Read of the places where torturers want the tortured to smile, to be grateful that they are just about alive.

Maybe then you are beginning to understand what it is to be in the sex trade.

Speak in the language of human rights – some so basis that you may not even notice you have them.

I have heard of the freedom of speech – hell, when I in the middle of the sex trade that was a privilege I could not even imagine.

How could I when I like millions of women and girls in the sex trade did not have freedom of thought, freedom of movement, freedom of having safety or freedom to be a full human.

How can we when our bodies and minds are owned and controlled by the johns and profiteers of the sex trade.

How can you have human rights when you made into disposable fuck-goods.

Humans rights are a dream for women and girls trapped in the sex trade.

So, I fight maybe to my death to get humans right seen as the major priority when exposing the sex trade.

It not about the sadness of individual case studies, it is not a cultural discussion, it is not even a class issue – it is a stripping away of the right to be full human to any women or girl trapped in the sex trade.

God – if I had my way the UN peacekeepers would raiding all brothels, closing down hard-core porn sets, stopping massage parlours, helping women and girls off the streets – for it be would considered an international crisis.

But that is not going to happen, especially as the vast majority of violence and degradation done to women and girls in the sex trade is made invisible.

This is where my rage and fear needs a real change.

I see all around me that the sex trade is being pushed indoors –  being made invisible.

I must fight harder, I must have others to fight harder with me.

Know there is nothing safer about indoors prostitution – only, it is easier for the propaganda machine of the sex trade to say it is safe, and respectful to the girls that they “employ”.

Just because you don’t see sexual torture, mass rapes, being forced into porn and murders does not mean it does not exist.

I could shut my eyes, and say that my laptop doesn’t exist – but that is bullshit.

I am so sick of the double standards that condemn domestic violence, child abuse in the home and acquaintance rape – seeing how horrific male violence can be to the innocent women and girls.

But behind closed doors – and a woman or girl is labelled whore, prostitute, escort, porn-star, lap-dancer – those same rapes and battering, and usually much much worse, is made into her choice, she must be to blame for making the man get so carried away.

After all, doesn’t the whore do it over and over and over, not just with one individual man but any and all men.

And,  by christ, she smiles and appears happy.

When I speak of incest, it is acceptable to say the child adapts and may even love her abuser.

I am used to women speaking of love/hate in domestic violence, of how hard it is to make a real break from that violence.

But women and girls in the sex trade are not allow complex feelings – remember they not fully human.

If they smile, or act happy, even boost the male ego – it could not be a way of surviving and trying out of desperation to lessen the violence.

It could not be that they have been trapped so long in sexual torture and degradation – that the only role they know is to be happy even when close to death, in constant pain and terror.

No, it is easier to say she has chosen her lifestyle.

The change has to come.

A change that does not focus on the woman or girl – but is on the john and the profiteers of the sex trade.

We should say loudly and with unity that any man that makes the choice to buy a prostituted woman and girl in putting his money into a system that is build on the sexual torturing, mass raping, mental abusing and murdering of a whole class named as the Whore.

I don’t care if he is gentle, or thinks he is decent – he is part of the worse crimes ever invented, if he chooses to own another human just for his sexual wants.

I am so full if rage and grief when I think of the profiteers.

They are making their fortunes by allowing millions of women and girls to be raped so often that they lose any essence.

They know of murders and do nothing, only replace with another fuckable goods.

They see money when they could see injuries, STDs, fear, asking to leave.

They speak of protecting their girls – whilst on their watch johns rape with abandon, bashing ups are covered up with make-up or dark lighting.

These profiteers should be rotting in prison – not living off the blood, terror and deaths of a whole class named Whore.

I want a change.

I do not know how to get there – but I can only move to that change.

Demand Change

Below is the facts about prostitution that I have copied from Demand Change a group run by Object and Eaves Housing in London.

Slowly and with great care I am beginning to set up a Demand Change group in the Manchester area.

I need to do more to tackle the push to place prostitution indoors, and therefore making the violence and degradation invisible or of little importance.

I need to be with like-minded people who want real change for prostituted women and girls.

I need this for my grief, frustration and rage is making me ill.

I cannot stand by whilst women and girls are being raped, tortured, mentally abused and murdered.

If you are interested, please contact me.

FACT 1: Prostitution is not an issue of ‘choice’ – most women enter prostitution because of lack of choice and many are coerced by pimps or traffickers.

75% of women in prostitution became involved when they were children (Melrose, 2002); 70% spent time in care and 45% report experiencing sexual abuse during their childhoods (Home Office, 2006). Once in prostitution, 9 out of 10 surveyed women would like to exit but feel unable to do so (Farley et al, 2003).
It is the men who buy sex who are exercising free choice, and it is this ‘choice’ to purchase vulnerable women and girls that expands prostitution and fuels trafficking for sexual exploitation.

FACT 2: Prostitution is not about sex. It is about exploitation, violence and abuse.

More than half of UK women in prostitution have been raped and/or seriously sexually assaulted at the hands of pimps and punters; up to 95% of women in street prostitution are problematic drug users (Home Office 2004); and 68% of women in prostitution meet the criteria for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the same range as victims of torture undergoing treatment (Farley, et al. 2003):
“I would numb my feelings… I would actually leave my body and go somewhere else with my thoughts and with my feelings until he got off me and it was over with. I don’t know how else to explain it except it felt like rape. It was rape to me.” (Survivor of prostitution in Farley, 2003)

FACT 3: Prostitution is harmful in and of itself: legalisation or complete decriminalisation of the entire industry doesn’t remove the harm of prostitution– it simply makes that harm legal.

Legalisation or complete decriminalisation of the industry does not deal with the long term psychological and physical effects of having unwanted and often violent and abusive sex numerous times a day and having to act like you enjoy it. To cope with this, women in prostitution report having to disassociate and ‘split off’ in their heads often using drugs and alcohol to block out reality.
Legalisation or complete decriminalisation of the industry does not make women safer. Instead it expands a multi billion pound industry which profits from violence against vulnerable women and girls.

FACT 4: Prostitution does not need to be legalised or completely decriminalised to provide better protection for women.

A sympathetic response from police when women report rape or violence should be the norm for all women regardless of who they are or what they do. It is not necessary to legalise the sex industry in order to extend such basic rights and services to women in prostitution. In fact legalisation just serves to expand an industry in which violence against women is at its most extreme.

FACT 5: There is broad consensus that those who sell or are sold for sexual use should be completely decriminalised.

It is completely wrong for those who are exploited by the sex trade should be criminalised for the exploitation that they face. This means that all criminal records and ASBOs for being involved in prostitution should be wiped.
Demand Change! calls for the buying of sexual acts to be criminalised in order to tackle the demand for prostitution which expands the industry by drawing more women and children into prostitution and fuelling trafficking for sexual exploitation.

FACT 6: Treating prostitution as ordinary work does not remove the stigma.

Normalising prostitution makes the abuse, violence and exploitation invisible and turns pimps and punters into businessmen and legitimate consumers. Recognising prostitution as ’just a job’ ignores the violence, poverty and marginalisation which drives women into prostitution, and means an end to services to support women out of prostitution – why would you need exit strategies for a ‘normal’ job?

FACT 7: Legalising indoor prostitution does not make women safer.

It doesn’t matter where prostitution takes place: the serious risks of harm are ever present. 48% of women in indoor prostitution have experienced violence from buyers (British Medical Journal 2001). In addition to physical violence, women in indoor prostitution report high levels of coercion and control from pimps and brothel owners, including being pressurised or forced not to use condoms, having to see more customers than women on the street, paying inflated charges and fines, and having to have sex with pimps or brothel owners, and/or their friends. The parents of Marnie Frey, a young woman murdered in prostitution, give their view:
“To  think the best we can do for these women is giving them a safe place to sell their bodies is a joke. There is no such thing as a ‘clean safe place’ to be abused in. For a man to think he can buy a woman’s body is insane…Marnie did not choose prostitution; her addictions did, and any man who bought her body for their sexual pleasure should go to jail for exploiting her desperation.” (Lynn & Rick Frey, 2008).

FACT 8: Legalising prostitution or decriminalising the entire industry sends out a message to new generations of boys and men that women are objects for sexual use and that prostitution is harmless fun.

Is this what we want, for generations of boys to grow up thinking that it is normal for men to have entitlement over women as sexual commodities? What is the meaning of our efforts to combat sexual harassment and male violence in the home, the workplace and the streets if men can buy the right to perpetrate these very same acts against women and children in prostitution?

Legalising or decriminalising the entire industry of prostitution normalises an extreme form of sexual subordination, it legitimises the existence of an underclass of women, it reinforces male dominance, and it undermines struggles for gender equality. It is time to start tackling the attitudes which say that it is acceptable to view and treat women as sexual objects by tackling the demand for commercial sexual exploitation.

FACT 9: Legalisation or decriminalisation of the entire industry expands prostitution and traficking for sexual exploitation.

Legalisation and complete decriminalisation gives a green light to pimps and traffickers making it easier for them to operate. In New Zealand, complete decriminalisation has led to the illegal sector expanding to make up 80% of the industry (Instone and Margerison, 2007), and according to the Mayor of Amsterdam “it is impossible to create a safe and controllable zone for women that is not open to abuse by organised crime” (Bindel and Kelly, 2004).

FACT 10: Tackling demand for prostitution decreases prostitution and trafficking for sexual exploitation.

Criminalising the purchase of sex whilst at the same time decriminialising those who sell sexual acts and offering support services to people in prostitution is the only viable way to work towards an end to this exploitative industry.
Criminalising the purchase of sexual acts makes punters take responsibility for their actions and sends out a clear message that it is not acceptable for women to be treated as commodities to be bought and sold for sexual use.
Several countries throughout the world, including Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Lithuania, South Korea and Cambodia have successfully introduced legislation that tackles the demand for sexual acts. In Sweden, where this legislation has been in force since 1999, there has been a significant reduction in trafficking and prostitution with a halt in the recruitment of new women (Baklinski, 2007).  Sweden is a no longer an attractive destination for traffickers, and the number of men purchasing sexual services has fallen significantly – the law clearly works as a deterrent (Ekberg, 2008).

After Shock

I went to Million Women Rise yesterday, and it was brilliant.

But, I am in deep shock – or maybe I am full of rage and frustration.

I give my speech, and I know it was very good – but deep inside if felt like planting stones into soil and expecting plants to grow.

I feel words are no longer good enough – not unless there is behind them a massive battle to stop prostitution being put behind closed doors.

I think I am depressed as I feel the women and girls being raped now.

Yesterday I walked out of Million Women Rise and saw groups of men – and how many of them are going to use the sex trade, and not even their best friend or partner will not know.

For this is the sex trade now, it is ordinary, it part of the leisure culture – it is everywhere for those who use it, and nowhere to everyone else.

I feel I cannot speak much, when prostitution is just part of a general protest on male violence against women.

It feel too muddling, too much like the whole of history where whores must wait their turn, must always be an example for women to learn by. Must not have a separate voice.

Only, how can we fight male violence, if the voices of exited prostituted women is always an appendix to feminism.

Face it, whores know more about the ins and outs of male violence, of how men truly view women, of how male power works, of how some men would eliminate women and girls if they could.

So, they start by eliminating prostituted women and girls.

This is done with basis sexual and physical violence – but with more skill it done by silencing the many voices of the whore.

And feminism is part of allowing of that to happen.

It is done as exited prostituted are made to be an afterthought of feminism – rather than being leading voices.

It is done as exited prostituted women are made to speak in the language of rape and domestic violence – rather than the language of human rights, torture and genocide.

It is done as exited prostituted women as just used as token to be examples – thus placing them in the position of the sub-human.

It is done when exited prostituted ask to have a separate voice and are told that is too extremist.

I am a feminist – but by god, it bloody hard when all the time feminism is sending more despair and frustration into me.

But I think that the many very voices of the exited prostituted women are the most feminist sounds I have ever heard.

So give them a strong and separate platform.

Indoors

How do you explain indoors prostitution in a world that doesn’t want to hear – do you fall on statistics, do you use metaphors, do you have to be graphic, or do just fall back into silence?

How do explain when so many are determined to say it is safe or at less safer than being on the street?

As my heart collapses with grief and incomprehension, I can gasp out how the hell can it be safer?

Think for a few seconds – think how most women are raped and battered behind closed doors, and those are not prostituted women.

Think for a few seconds – know that many street prostituted women and girls also work indoors, or find an indoors space when working the  streets. So why make the artificial between indoors and street prostitution.

Know the workings of the sex trade is to move women and girls around different aspects of prostitution and the rest of the sex trade. This is done to disorient, a form of mental violence, to get as much cash as they can out of her and to make she knows she is nothing but fuck-goods to used and used and used.

Think for a few seconds – is it such a brilliant idea to struck in a room as strange men come in and make you their porn-toy?

Think for a few seconds –  if indoors prostitution is so bloody brilliant, how come those who promote it go on and on about having bodyguards, many checks on the men that are the “clients”, having regular medical checks, having alarms and security cameras, having drivers for added security, lists of bad johns and whatever other security they can think of.

Wow, that sounds a secure and safe place to work in to me.

But, for most prostituted women and girls doing indoors prostitution, all that “security” is a joke.

Bodyguards may just sit outside the room and ignore all the battering, the rapes and even the murders.

For far too many prostituted women and girls – bodyguards and drivers is just another word for pimp. Pimps want cash, and her welfare is totally of no importance.

Cameras can be turn off, or used to make amateur porn.

Alarms can be ignored – or are impossible to find in the middle of being sexually tortured.

Plenty of condoms ain’t of any use as you force to deep-throat, made to do anal rape, as the multiple ways of sexually torturing without penis in the vagina are repeated over and over and over and over on the bodies of prostituted women and girls in indoors prostitution.

For god’s sake – tell me what is so safe about indoors prostitution?

Could it be that once it behind closed doors, you just don’t give a shit any more?

As I hear the language invented to make indoors prostitution ok, I have come to think that.

There is so much wanting to believe that it must be chosen, therefore it cannot be torture,  just a difficult job, but then it can be fun too.

It is a language that ties itself up in knots. So desperate not to look too much at reality, it focuses on exceptions.

It shows empowered women with no background, only the moment they are happy as an escort or working inside brothels is highlighted.

If they slip into into saying it is not always great, or they would rather be doing something else – they are spoken over or it is said they were just joking.

It never said that to survive indoors prostitution you must think it ok; to think otherwise is to fall into despair without any help or exit.

The sex trade is manipulating these women to get new recruits – it is that cynical.

It is cheap and highly effective to have prostituted women saying there is little violence, that managers take great care of their girls, that it is always safe sex, that there is loads of money to be made, that it only a few men at a time most of whom will just chat and do “normal” sex.

What a brilliant way to spread the propaganda of the sex trade.

I know when I was embedded inside the sex trade, I spoke that language. I have no regrets about that – for it stopped me from killing myself.

I just hope and hope that no woman or girl heard me, and thought prostitution would be a good option.

I know that it only if the prostituted woman is lucky enough to be able to exit, that the reality of indoors prostitution comes into her body and mind.

The trauma is extreme, for many exited women it becomes a shadow that there for the rest of their lives. On good and regular days, it may fade or even appear to vanish – but the trauma is always there.

If you choose to back indoors prostitution, know you have ignored the casualties of mass rapes, of sexual torturing on an industrial scale, of murders made invisible – but also those who escape could have extreme trauma for years or even a lifetime.

So, stop using the excuse that is behind closed doors to not see the reality.

Hell, if you can see incest, see domestic violence, see acquaintance rape – then why do you refuse to see indoors prostitution?

God, I became a feminist coz I thought all the private sphere should be exposed.

Only there nothing private about indoors prostitution, it is an open market for any man who chooses to buy from it, it a wide open market for any profiteer to make a fortune.

There is nothing personal about being raped, battered and tortured in indoors prostitution – it can be any prostitute.

But maybe this is why you refuse to look closely at the prostituted woman and girl in indoors prostitution – instead she is kept sub-human.

She is kept inside statistics, inside media and academic debates, inside novels and paintings, inside TV dramas  – always her voice is never heard, unless spoken or written by the non-prostituted.

It has been that way for many centuries – now slowly and with great courage, women who have survived indoors prostitution are getting their multiple voices heard.

But we can only be heard if you make the decision to listen and hear – and not speak over us.

Throw Them to the Wolves

I woke up today, and realise that I am living in my worse nightmare – that is a world where prostitution is placed behind closed doors and then called safer.

A world where feminists try to find the good brothels, the good way to keep prostitution going – and say that is for the greater good of womankind.

To do this, there must be drastic manipulation of language and reality. But what does that matter, women can feel ok about prostitution, for all the nasty side is keep hidden from view.

Last week, I was in despair about the drive to push all prostitution indoors. Now, I am in a place of great rage and have no time for the justifications.

It is so defeatist for feminists to place prostitution indoors.

But much worse it is the gospel of despair, it is an abandonment and betrayal of the vast majority of prostituted women and girls. It is to leave them in extreme danger and without hope.

Oh, I suppose it is ok, if you live knowing that behind closed doors that the sex trade will run business as usual.

Business as usual is trafficking both externally and internally to have a constant fresh supply of goods.

Business us usual recruiting under-aged girls, remember the average of entering prostitution is 12.

Business as usual supplying whatever porn-fuelled fantasy the john wants – no regard to the prostituted woman or girls safety, whether mental, sexually or physically.

Business as usual a careless attitude to safer sex, and anyhow how do condoms protect the prostituted woman or girl from the vast majority of non-penetrative sexual violence.

That is just the tip of the iceberg of what is happening behind closed doors – in the so-called safer form of prostitution.

Lets me say a few stories of indoors prostitution. Stories that are made silent.

Think of a high-class escort, and I suppose you see someone who can control her johns, who is rarely in a situation of violence, who is some kind of businesswoman.

That is how the sex trade wants you to see it.

It does not want to tell you of being placed in a room with a sadistic john, who has enough money to rape and torture you for many hours.

You will not be told how the “security” may sit outside the room hearing the beatings, the raping – but sits outside only to tell the john if his time is up.

You will not be told that if you complain, that you could be punished by being sent to a another sadistic john or have your money stolen.

Also, who believes a whore over some rich man.

So, brothels are the safer way to have prostitution. How the hell are brothels safe for prostituted women and girls, unless it in the pages of Playboy or other glossy porn junk.

Brothels are just the supermarkets of prostitution – where everything has the outward appearance. of cleanliness, care for the welfare of the staff and in the end it just part of leisure culture.

It is all for show – in the end brothels are there to provide men where whatever porn fantasy they want, and give them time and privacy to be violent if they want.

I know the sex trade gives the image that men that use brothels “respect” the prostituted women – never mention there are prostituted girls inside brothels. It claims most johns just want to chat or do “normal” sex.

It will paint a picture that most johns that use brothels are lonely, isolated or wanting to learn sexual techniques.

It will shout loudly how they vet bad johns, and always put the mental and physical welfare of their “girls” first.

Well that is just propaganda to keep others from looking too deeply into the running of brothels.

Brothel profiteers considered prostituted women and girls to be goods, they are never given the rights and dignity of being full humans.

These are goods to be fucked until wore out, that is the reality inside the vast majority of brothels throughout the world – be that in an English city, or inside a Thai club or even in the desert in Nevada – the prostituted women and girls in brothels are thrown to the wolves.

Johns do not go to brothels on a regular basis to do “normal” sex or to chat – that may be true in male fantasy say literature of Norman Mailer or the classy porn magazines, or stupid films showing friendly and club-able brothels.

The reality is that johns want to re-created porn on a living body, usually hard-core porn. For that they pay for privacy and time.

To be prostituted in a brothel, is to have every cell in your body made into a fuck-toy.

There is little or no regard to the pain, to the terror, to the injuries – for the prostituted woman or girl is goods, a thing, an object.

As for the alarms, bodyguards, cameras in the room, condoms, so-called checks on bad johns – in the vast majority of brothels that is show if they think there may outward interference or they are in some documentary.

It is not unknown for security to watch prostituted women and girls being sexually tortured – and later use that film to sell on as porn.

The manager gets more money from sadistic johns than from johns who just do “normal” sex.

There is nothing safer about brothels – only they are very good at keeping everything firmly behind closed doors.

How can feminists support brothels, and not realise how many millions of women and girls they are throwing to the wolves.

Dammit, is it not considered to be rape inside brothels. Well – I would say the majority of brothels are factories for men to find multiple ways to rape.

Brothels allow johns to invent as much sexual torturing as they can, and as it is hidden from view, they know it is considered to be a non-crime.

Where else outside the sex trade, would gang-rapes go unnoticed, would forcing hard-core porn into a living woman or girls be praised, that as you get through one rape another rapist is in you before you can breathe.

And all this made out to be just your role in life – it is even named as a “job”.

Some feminists turn their backs on the women and girls in indoors prostitution – believing the sex trade propaganda that is a chosen job.

That is very rare – and even when it is chosen, that does not prevent johns raping, sexually torturing or even murdering the prostituted woman or girl.

A sadistic john does not ask or care why or how the prostitute got there – only that he has complete power and control.

If you back indoors prostitution, you are backing mass rapes, sexual torturing and murders.

You would not ignore the Congo, or gang-rapes outside the sex trade, or harms of porn to women and girls outside the sex trade – but you turn your back on women and girls escorting or in brothels.

Think that is that feminist.

A Very Bad Week

As I write the leak in my roof is driving me insane – joys of living in a council flat.

But this week has terrible, because more and more there is a push to place prostitution indoors – and that is meant to make it safer for prostituted women and girls.

There little or no public space to say it not about just making it safer – it about asking more fundamental questions.

It is asking loudly why do we allow men to have the entitlement to make women and girls into fuckable commodities to be brought and sold.

Why does anyone think places it behind closed will make it safer for those women and girls.

Why when listening to prostituted women, is it usually those who are privileged or are now managers, that are part of the media circus.

I do not believe that indoors prostitution can ever be made safe enough.

It can never be safe when all you are is a commodity, with your human rights stripped from you.

That is the reality for the vast majority of women and girls in indoors prostitution.

Escorting is painted as safer, well paid and a life of relative independent.

Only certain realities are keep hidden.

Most escorts have little or no protection if the john decides to be violent.

For many escorts, the manager will know the john has a violent reputation, but if he pays a lot, what’s the big deal. It just a whore, ain’t it.

The only time most of the profiteers of escorting care about safety is in the media gaze or if they know there will be an inspection. Normally they just throw their “girls” to the wolves.

I have been told that in an ideal world, that prostitution would run by co-ops of prostituted women.

I do not see that happening – I see women being madams and other women being commodities.

Even if there was co-ops, it is still all about making women into fuckable goods for any and all men who want to buy them.

Where is the freedom in that, what is empowering about that.

That is why I cannot see a middle ground when it comes to prostitution – for I know as long as prostitution is considered to be normal – there women and girls raped, sexually tortured, made into hard-core porn and murdered to feed the sex trade.

I have to fight for abolition, it is not a choice – it is survival, it is wanting to place prostituted women and girls in the position of being full humans not goods, it the belief that no one ever should be a sexual slave, it coz I cannot watch the genocide of the prostituted class and do nothing.

I want men to stop buying women and girls for their living porn-toys. I want them more than just fined – money means little to many johns.

Hell, if he afford to buy a prostitute he will be care-less of any fine.

No johns should done for rape, for battery, for attempted murder. Don’t make their crime invisible, just because it was prostitution.

I want the profiteers to live with a huge fear of long prison sentences. After all, they are organising that many women and girls are raped, tortured, mentally abused and murdered. Don’t let their clean-cut image fool you.

I want there to be real exiting schemes for prostituted women and girls – where there is specialist counselling or therapy for the long-term trauma that most have to live with.

I want to build a world where the concept of prostitution is considered to be of the past – for it spoken as slavery, as the complete and utter violation of the prostituted’s rights to be a full human, that is destroyed the prostituted in the body, mind and essence.

So, this is a bloody week – but it reminds to fight harder.
