1 Year

I can't believe my baby is a year!!! Now almost 14 months!!! On Cal's birthday Rob and I were reminiscing on what we were doing a year ago. In the hospital with a brand new baby and no instruction manual! We thought we loved him then, but we just seem to love him more and more everyday!

 For Cal's Birthday we had a Dr Suess party with the family. I thought a Dr Suess theme fit Cal well. He was lucky to have lots of family come spend the evening with him! 

Cal wasn't interested in opening presents, he was busy exploring the tent  Uncle Ben and Aunt Natalie made for him!

I really thought he would dig in and destroy his cake.. He didn't do it when everyone was watching, he waited until later that night!

Summer 2012

This summer we went to Brianhead with my Mom's side of the family. We went to Cedar Breaks, Zion National Park, And Bryce Canyon. My family went on to the Grand Canyon, but we went to Rob's cousins' wedding, then to Kanab.

How did the park get its name?

Ebenezer Bryce, an immigrant from Scotland, moved with his family to the Paria River valley in 1875. Bryce was sent by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because his skill as a carpenter would be useful in settling the area. Local people called the canyon with strange rock formations near Ebenezer's home, "Bryce's Canyon." The Bryces moved to Arizona in 1880. To this day, people continue to call this area Bryce Canyon.

At the wedding Cal was getting grumpy so I took him back to the car to play around. He learned how to honk the horn with his belly and continued to do it all night. "Come on dad time to go!"

On July 7th, my mom and I ran the Hobbler Half Marathon in Springville.  

The beginning of August Cal and I went camping with my dad's side of the family near Bear Lake.We had lots of fun (Except for the fact Rob wasn't there). The weather was SO NICE! The water was warm, good company, we played psychiatrist and stumped my brother, (after 4 tries-thanks Kelly). and got really dirty!

One of my favorite things this summer has been dancing with Cal. He's a natural!

Spring 2012

I have been getting requests for updates on little Cal man. (We've  been without internet for awhile). We live pretty far away from all our family except Uncle Ben and Aunt Natalie. Everyone remarks on how much he's grown. I guess I don't realize how fast or how much he changes until I look back at pictures. I try to tell him to stay small, but he doesn't listen. 

8 1/2 months swinging on the rope at Grandpa and Grandma Chamberlain's. He was watching Rob swing and thought it was so funny!

9 months Riding Fred with Mom and Grandpa Jess. Cal loves animals! I hope he gets the opportunity to ride horses like I had. I think he will love it. 

 Doesn't my Dad look good on a horse? I sure think so!

10 months, Night hike to the Y. He was outgrowing his little pack as you can tell.

Happy Spring

 Yesterday I caught Cal with a mouthful of rocks as leaves. He is loving all the new things to explore outside. Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather as much as we are! Happy Spring!

9 Months

• Pulls himself up onto everything-he's quite the explorer
• Climbs over, under, on top of EVERYTHING!
• Shrieks when he doesn't get his way or what he wants. We're very worried about what we're going to do when he gets older since he already has such an attitude!
• Has the cutest toothless grin (yep, still no teeth)
• Still puts everything in his mouth
• Has the cutest laugh and laughs often
• Fake laughs and fake coughs
• Loves playing with his daddy
• Has a temper (he comes by this honestly) and does not give up easily. In fact he's screaming in his crib at this very moment.
• Loves the bathroom, I guess because we don't like him in there?
• Loves the get into all the cupboards
• Likes to push and pull the open doors
• Loves eating whatever you're eating 
• Spits while he eats
• Wakes up on average 2x a night. Sometimes 3, if I'm lucky 1. But usually just 2.
• Loves to click his tongue
• Still loves to be outside
• Likes walks and jogs in his stroller
• Likes to watch people and loves other babies
• Loves to get your phone, computer, camera, kindle, or any other electronic device -if he succeeds in getting it he gets very excited.
• When he gets excited he makes this sound like he's hyperventilating.

I'm not sure if you can tell that well in the picture, but Cal's face and head are very dirty. Apparently he found my makeup and gave himself a makeover.

Time to Run

My mom and I just signed up for the Hobbler Creek Half Marathon in Springville on July 7!! I was definitely in need of some motivation to keep a regular workout schedule!

Scandalous

Yesterday Rob's brother Daniel and his wife Sharla were hanging out at our house. Dan showed us this video...It blows my mind. So dishonest and infuriating. If you ever take your car in for upkeep or repair definitely watch this! This video is from 2006, there is another similar one in 2009. Hopefully they've cleaned up their act.
