This week I had little motivation. But I did manage to get out there and do my best for the week. Some weeks are just like that.
On Monday I pulled out my Yoga Zone Ab Yoga. It always seems silly, the moves are so easy. Until the next day when my abs hurt! It has two 20 minute routines, so I did the first one, deciding to save the other for later in the week.

I had my annual physical yesterday morning. (I am pretty dang healthy except my BP is a little low) On the way to the appointment I was thinking about the other running blogs I read. I have surrounded myself with runners that are much further along their journey than I am. Most days that inspires me. But sometimes….
I am, by turns, jealous that some of them are in locations where they can run year round, hit with bouts of insufficiency by the times in which they run their miles, and astonished by the miles they cover.
After my appointment I hit the grocery store–snow was on the way–and headed homeward. On the way home I argued with myself about whether I would run or not. It was the first day over 20 degrees in several weeks. The sun was shining. And was going to snow the next day. I knew I would regret it if I didn’t run, but I had planned on taking the day off. As I put away the groceries and let the dogs out, I continued to debate. I even continued the argument as I changed clothes, laced up my sneakers and trotted down the driveway.
Today we are supposed to check out a given writing prompt and see how we can apply it to the subject matter of our blog. Personally, I think it is one that just about everyone can twist to fit any subject:

So here is the first responsibility I need to give out: I really should be working on my online class right now, but here I am on my blog. Once my clone is done with that, housecleaning! And my clone can keep me supplied with coffee. What shall I be doing, you ask? I foresee running, yoga and blogging. How lovely.
How many times can I clone myself? How will they feel about doing all the grunt work? Because I know how I would feel and if they are me……We may have to take turns. Will we share the same memories? If one clone does all the classwork, can I then take the tests, or will I have no idea of what they studied? Plus, if they have my same procrastination traits, will we all simply end up running, practicing our yoga and blogging? Will you be able to tell which posts I (the original) write as opposed to the ones they (the clones) write? Will they grow differently from me as we encounter personality altering stimuli? Perhaps they won’t want to study what I am studying. Perhaps, horror of all horrors, they won’t like coffee. How could this be?!
Will certain other traits come out more in them than I? What if they don’t even like exercise or writing? My laziness may be more pronounced in them. My grandmother used to say lazy was spelled M-A-N-T-H-A. I might end up doing everything and supplying them with coffee!
And I am deliberately not even thinking about my (their) relationship with my husband. Or the confusion the dogs will feel. Will we smell exactly the same? And really, who wants to look at oneself all the time? Physcially or metaphorically. Will I see how truly annoying I can be?
Last week was a rather good week. I actually took thursday and friday off. I know I sometimes take 2 days off during the week, but I can’t remember ever taking consecutive days. But that is just the way the week fell.
I mixed it up a bit on monday, kickboxing with squat and lunge intervals. I have a punching bag on a stand that my husband got me for Christmas one year–he’s such a good husband. With my trusty book, I ran through a set of 10 or so exercises, punches and kicks. I tried Tae Bo (who didn’t?) and I realized that although it might be good for aerobic exercise, it didn’t help much with actual technique. I like the idea of punching properly, so I got a book and learned.
I have had the best time getting to know my fellow bloggers throughout Blogging 101. Yesterday our exercise was to suss out some new blogs and leave intelligent comments. Or at least a comment beyond “cool”. Today our job is to pick one of those blogs and write a post on why we picked that blog to leave a comment on. Here comes my disclaimer: most of the time I am a happy go lucky person. However, I am fiercely proud of our soldiers (note I said soldiers, not the military complex) and this post is a bit more serious than I usually do.
I run, that is something that has gradually come upon me. It fits many aspects of my personality; and helped me develop willpower. I have, however, been practicing Yoga for years. I haven’t been to a class (I think we have discussed my independant streak before) but I have a wide array of DVDs. From Denise Austin (yes, old school–I told you I have been doing this awhile) to Sara Ivanhoe, I have tried many. And my husband has been pressed into watching me to see if I have the form right.
