Gotta love a little bit of the Pretenders singing ‘Brass in Pocket’, originally from 1979 although this is a much later remastered version – loved it then, still love it today, Chrissie Hynde has such a great voice ❤

Glory Days
Today’s Word of the Day challenge is Glory, and Bruce Springsteen’s hit ‘Glory Days’ from the mid-1980s immediately sprung to mind – how can this song possibly be 40 years old? I must be getting old… 🙂
Another Day in Paradise
When I saw today’s prompt, Phil Collins immediately came to mind with his 1989 hit ‘Another Day in Paradise’ – loved it then, still love it now… ❤
Blink-182 – One More Time
I remember my kids listening to Blink-182 in the late 1990s, in particular their hit ‘All the Small Things’ comes to mind. But here they are a good couple of decades later still making music but with a much more grown-up sound 🙂
And maybe I’ll just add this one too, for old time’s sake!
Everything Misremembered…
I saw today’s Word of the Day prompt of ‘Slip Away’ and subconsciously started humming a tune in my head… I tried to focus on exactly what I was remembering, but all I could come up with was it was maybe something from the 1980s Scottish rock band Deacon Blue, with the lyric ‘Slip Away’…
Except it seems I misremembered both, as once my brain got into gear I realised it was actually Big Country, not Deacon Blue, and the song lyric was ‘Look Away’ not ‘Slip Away’ – duh!
I loved both bands back in the day, and in my defence it was 40 years ago! Still, at least I got the tune right, so that’s something! 🙂
Sweet Dreams are Made of This
As soon as I saw today’s Word of the Day prompt of Sweet Dreams I thought of the Eurythmics song of the same name – I think Annie Lennox is a great singer, whatever she sings ❤
Clowns to the Left of me, Jokers to the Right
This week’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt is joke, and it immediately brought to mind the 1972 track ‘Stuck in the Middle With You’ by Stealers Wheel – I’ve always liked it, and it seems I still like it today!
‘Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right – here I am, stuck in the middle with you’ 🙂
Elbow – Grounds for Divorce
Fandango’s One Word Challenge today is ‘Grounds’ and the first thing that popped into my head was this song from Elbow in 2008, called ‘Grounds for Divorce’ – I just love it! 🙂
PS Apologies if you can’t see the video in your part of the world… 😦
Pop Muzik
When I saw today’s Ragtag Daily Prompt of Pop Songs I thought of the catchy tune ‘Pop Muzik’ by ‘M’ from 1979, so here is a digitally remastered version – apologies for anyone who can’t see the video – ‘New York, London, Paris, Munich, everybody talk about pop music’ 🙂
Don’t Worry, Be Happy
Who can resist Bobby McFerrin’s catchy acapella song ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy’ from 1988 🙂
