Sania enters 3rd round of the US Open

Sania Mirza stormed her way into the 3rd round of the US open tennis championships as she defeated the unseeded American Laura Granville 6-3 7-5 in the second round match. Even though Sania defeated her opponent in straight sets, she was made to sweat and play hard to attain the victory. The match lasted for 1hr and 22 mins. Sania plays Anna Chakvedatze in the third round match who had beat Australian Nicole Pratt 6-3 6-4 in another second round match. Sania and Laura exchanged two breaks in the first set before the Indian broke loose and converted her third break point to go one up in the match. Sania began well in the second set and looked in a hurry to wrap up the match as she raced to a 4-2 lead. Just then the American threw in the spanner, winning two of the next three games to reduce the gap.Sania, however, still had the advantage as she went into the 10th game, serving for the match. She was leading 30-0 before squandering two match points, which allowed the American to break her and level it 5-5. The next match would be crucial for sania as she had been defeated by Anna in the finals of the Cincinatti open. This is a good chance for sania to show her revenge.

EA will release Crysis demo on Sep 25 -problem for Halo 3

EA has announced that its gonna release the demo version of most the anticipated game -Crysis. EA has confirmed that PC gamers will soon be able to sample an entire level from the Crysis single-player campaign. Looks like great news. But not so good for Halo fans as coincidentally is also the day Halo 3 launches for Xbox 360. Crysis is set in 2019. You play as Jake Dunn, a United States Delta Force operator. Dunn and his team are sent to pacify a situation in which a group of United States archaeologists are taken captive by the North Korean military while investigating a mysterious ancient artifact that was found in the Spratly Islands, located in the South China Sea. Players are faced with three very different environments / acts, as the story unfolds.

If you've played Far Cry, then as soon as you get your hands on the Crysis demo you'll see that the game will be even more open-ended with more ways to meet objectives. Another addition to the previous Far Cry formula is that any weapon may be modified with devices such as suppressors, telescopic sights, and targeting lasers. So, remember that September 25th marks the launch of the Crysis demo, but if you're a Halo fan, that day is equally important for you I'm sure, as Halo 3 launches on the 25th of September also. But I don't see why you wouldn't try out the demo of one of the most anticipated FPSes of the year anyway.

Multicore Vs Single Core CPUs

Multicore CPUs like Intel's Core 2 Extreme and AMD's dual-core Athlon 64 have brought about better performance, better power management, and a way for the industry to free itself from a slavish devotion to sheer clock speed. But multicore CPU architectures are creating a nightmare for programmers, particularly those who want to take full advantage of the new chips' power. The upshot? Much of your brand-new CPU's potential, like an uneducated brain, is going to waste. Even if (programmers) did nothing and the clock speed doubled, their software would run significantly faster, the days when the megahertz wars raged.

In general, "multicore" chips include two or more cores -- the central processing units of a chip on a single piece of silicon. This allows properly coded software to break computing tasks down into separate pieces, known as "threads," and process the threads simultaneously, in parallel, instead of sequentially, as older single-core chips require. Although multicore platforms have been around for some time in academia and research, it's been just over two years since the chips were commercially introduced by the likes of Sun Microsystems, IBM, Intel and AMD. Now, as core counts are poised to take off with eight, 32 and even 64 cores, the software that will run on them is seriously lagging. With the exception of the gaming industry, the vast majority of software publishers aren’t programming for multithreaded chips.Indeed, the potential benefits of multicore chips are rendered obsolete if the software itself isn't coded to take advantage of its primary selling point: namely, parallelism.

Manchester United, champions last season are yet to win this season. This is United's worst start since 1992 where they just got one point in the first three games. Ironically United went on to win that season for the first time in 26 years. Can this happen this season too. Thats what millions of Manchester United fan are hoping for. Injury woes trouble United as Louis Saha, Wayne Rooney and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are injured. United's new signings Carlos Tevez, Nani, Hargreaves have not clicked so far and we expect a lot from them. United clash against a good Tottenham side this weekend. Lets hope United put up a better show and get into the title clash again.

Summer Movie Review - Who Rocked and Who Sucked

The sun is less hot (wishful thinking), the leaves are falling and the summer is slowly coming to an end. And before you think I'm actually giving you the goods on some romantic comedy featuring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, rest assured – I was merely trying to set the scene for turning the heat on the summer's top-selling mega movies. And since it's always fun to see who got the most dough and who ended up sinking like a brick, let's have a look at this summer's box office and see what's been selling and what's been falling. If one thing's for sure, it's that this has been the summer of threequels. And right up there at the top we find...believe it or not...Spiderman 3, who's been spinning webs worth $336 million and despite scathing reviews and some very unhappy critics, opened big ($151 million in the first weekend) and basically took it from there. Close by, we find threequel number two and my personal favorite, Shrek the Third which grossed $321 million, and even though this still comes $100 million short of Shrek 2, it gives it a comfortable advantage over the next three top earners – Transformers ($303), The Simpsons Movie ($155 million) and The Bourne Ultimatum ($ 138). So, all in all, a summer filled with "the awesome third part of..." (fill in the gap with your favorite franchise which just doesn't want to leave the spotlight), the big screen adventures of our favorite yellow American family and a tale about a bunch of cars that turn into robots.

Pirates of the Caribbean 3 – At World's End (another threequel!) scored $307 million, and even though fans were not disappointed, I think that it came a bit too soon after last summer's Dead Man's Chest and failed to build up that excitement we all felt before going to see part two one year ago. And finally, Harry Potter not three, but five – The Order of the Phoenix was a sure money spinner, with $273 million and a change of mood and atmosphere from the fairy-like to thriller-horror that pleased some fans and disappointed others, but at least the story's moving on and we're all looking forward to part six! And now that we have a pretty good idea who the winners are, let's take a look at the bottom of the tab and see exactly which movies disappointed and came in last – and let's admit it, we all love a good failure from time to time. And we're not surprised to find Ocean’s Thirteen ($116 million) on the list, another sequel which doesn't boast much except Clooney and Brad Pitt looking their sexy selves, and the audience seems to have finally had enough of their click of subtle scam artists. By far the summer's biggest brick to sink however was Evan Almighty ($97 million) which cost no less than $175 million to make. You can do the math. And just to prove that kid's movies are fun, especially over the summer, but people (kids included) sometimes do actually get bored, both Surf’s Up ($58 million) and Underdog ($26 million) came in way below expectations. So that's about it for this summer, and I'm sure we'll be hearing some more about these movies as soon as talk about the Oscars starts, though I'm not sure it's going to be all good. We'll see.

Revolutionary Voice Recognition Technology to Make Your Life Easier

Vlingo Corporation just launched a limited beta version of vlingo, a breakthrough voice-powered interface for mobile devices based on a revolutionary speech recognition technology. With vlingo you can forget about annoying tapping on the tiny keypads of your handheld, as it enables you to control, by voice, your phone. You don't have to change the way you speak nor memorize a rigid list of commands, because vlingo lets you say anything and, thanks to the revolutionary technology, it really understands you. Vlingo is a voice interface that provides direct access to wireless data services and can work with any mobile application. Just speak to your mobile phone in order to enter search terms or any other text you want. Vlingo comes with features that no other voice recognition technology has. It's the most accurate system of its kind - it takes into consideration what a user had previously spoken, leveraging this knowledge for a continuous accuracy improvement. There are no limits on what a user can say, meaning you don't have to follow a specific set of commands or steps in order to complete a task. The lightweight library used by vlingo is compatible with most of the 3G and multimedia phones, allowing easy integration into various applications. In case you prefer entering text using the phone's keypad, vlingo lets you switch between speech entry and keypad entry at any time.

Taking advantage of a new technology (named adaptive Hierarchical Language Models), vlingo enables mobile carriers and applications providers to voice-enable any application, quickly and with low costs, allowing users to get fast and accurate access to data and applications. The beta version of vlingo can be downloaded from the Vlingo website. Until a non-beta version will be released, we can only think about the changes that vlingo can bring in the evolution of mobile data and services. What's for sure is that it is a one-of-a-kind interface that will probably have a huge success.

Scam Others on the Internet, It's Cool

So many scam e-mails, lately, that I'm starting to think this might be some new fashion trend or something. Hackers use all sorts of high-profile company names in order to trick users into clicking on links and then have their data phished. Of course, I was just being a bit ironic in the title, do not scam people on the Internet, or it will lead to serious
consequences.I am going to present here a standard scam message:

First, the hacker addresses the victim in a polite way and states that he is a representative of some corporation (usually something big to which the victim can relate). Shortly after the malicious user will say, in the same official/polite language, why he has decided to contact you. He also makes it clear that this is for your own good. Oh, how they're so caring! Afterwards, he just inserts some bogus data or facts, that you probably won't read, because some are in techie tongue that only few understand anyway. That crap is supposed to convince you of the fact that this is a genuine message from the original company. Do not fall for this, no matter how those details look like. After the bogus, comes the part where they show their concern for your security – hackers often use this trick! And in their concern for your well being, to make sure that nothing bad will happen to you because of the "bla-bla" they had stated above, you need to click on a certain link to check something with them. Of course, when you click it, you get infected, and if that doesn't cut it for them, the link will probably take you to a site that will ask you for personal data. If you do input the data, it will go to the hackers. I think I've said this quite a few times before. Also, the e-mails will be written in a very official language, to make you think they are genuine. Also, they will give you some names and addresses of people that probably don't even exist, for you to contact in case anything could go wrong. Please don't fall for this!

Revolutionary Function in Google Earth! View The Sky!

What do you know about Google Earth? Probably you can say that it is an application that allows you to view highly detailed satellite imagery of every corner of the world. Not anymore! Because Google's downloadable mapping tool is now able to provide exciting photos with the sky, allowing you to view detailed photos with the planets, the stars or entire constellations just like a real telescope. If you want to test this innovative function, you must update your Google Earth to the latest version because only this release provides support for the sky. After you install the latest edition of Google Earth, you can access the function by pressing the special button placed on the toolbar of the application.

It seems that the Mountain View company tries anything possible to bring more consumers to their records. After it bundled Street View, an interesting function that shows street level panoramas from several US cities, in Google Maps, Google now allows you to view the sky straight from the downloadable mapping tool. At this time, there are several other software solutions that provide detailed imagery with the sky but, with the power of search giant, Google Earth will surely attract more users.Take for example Celestia. Although it offers an impressive collection of space imagery bundled with other valuable information, it is somehow unpopular because the parent company didn't promote it too often. Compared to it, Google Earth is a famous solution and will continue to grow, as long as the parent company improves it with this kind of features.

Unreal Tournament 3 Runs Better on PS3 Than It Does on the Xbox 360

In the next-gen console wars, Sony has just won a battle thanks to the latest statement of Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games. He claims that Unreal Tournament 3 can only show its full potential on a Blu-ray disk, instead of the DVD used on the Xbox 360.Rein brought this up while attending the Edinburgh Interactive Festival and he mentioned that Epic Games had to cut some content from the Xbox 360 version of UT 3. So, we'll have fewer maps to play on if we own one of Microsoft's consoles, but if we're the lucky owners of a PS3, we'll take full advantage of the Blu-ray freedom.

So, even if the Wii is the big winner in the end when it comes to sales figures, the PS3 is quickly catching up, as its Blu-ray playing capabilities make it an unique console. Who's willing to take a bet with me that the next console designed by Microsoft will support the new format, leaving behind the DVD standard? The same assumption applies to Nintendo, but I don't quite see anyone playing a new Unreal Tournament title with the aid of a Wiimote. When the next gen wars take place in the "FPS arena", there are only two major contenders: the PS3 and the Xbox 360, with the Wii handling the fun titles that don't feature top notch graphics. However, as long as we see blockbuster titles surfacing on the PSP or DS, there will always be a pesky little Wii port, featuring clunky controls and PS2 style graphics.

Next Generation of Intel CPUs Reach 4GHz

The release date of the Intel processors based on the Penryn core is coming fast so that the manufacturing company decided to announce some details about the next generation of desktop processors. The Penryn generation will start with initially nine processors based on the 45nm fabrication process and will reach the speed of 4GHz in the end, according to the site TGDaily.
The new Intel offering will include both entry and middle level dual core processors and it will also bring some quad cores too. No less than five dual core CPUs are expected, all of them based on the Wolfdale architecture and reaching speeds of 2.66, 2.83, 3.0 and 3.16GHz. The last Wolfdale CPU will run at an unspecified clock speed. The second level of cache memory for all the dual core processors based on the Wolfdale architecture will amount to a total of 6MB.

On the quad core front, Intel plans the release of four processors based on the Yorkfield core and three of them will be clocked at 2.5 GHz, 2.66 GHz and 2.83 Ghz, while the fourth CPU will reach a higher but undisclosed frequency. The entry level processor running at 2.5GHz will come equipped with 6MB of second level of cache memory, while the higher end models will have 12MB.According to the news site Digitimes, the Penryn class of processors will be more overclockable as they will support the increase of the multiplier in 0.5 increments. This move from Intel will also produce a greater variety of processors with different speeds and performance capabilities. Intel said that the Penryn class may very well reach beyond the 4GHz speed limit. It is said that Core 2 Duo processors are already running at 4GHz in Intel's testing labs for quite some time now but the company choose not to release such a processor as it did not have a direct competing product on the high end market.

Yahoo Mail? Messenger? Search Engine? All You Need on a Single Page!

Many of the Yahoo products were dramatically improved but the giant portal didn't also modify the help manuals created for them. So, here we are, using Yahoo Mail Beta but there is no
help menu that would describe the latest features and how we can use them. Well, this thing was recently changed when the Sunnyvale company created a new side of the Yahoo Help, codename Tutorials, that bring a lot of brand new information for all the interested fans. Basically, those manuals were created especially for Yahoo Mail Beta but it contains information for numerous other Yahoo products.

First of all, you can read them by accessing the official page of the help menus and read the instructions compatible with all Yahoo products. Secondly, you can click on the Help link included in Yahoo Mail Beta that redirects you to the most updated side of the Tutorials which is now full of fresh new interface.ahoo made a lot of changes to its products and Yahoo Mail is one of the services which received an impressive amount of updates. Take Yahoo Messenger for example. It has been introduced in the mail service in order to allow the consumers to communicate with their contacts straight from the interface of Yahoo Mail.

The New Oldest Person in the World: 114 Years 3 Months and 25 Days Old

The oldest person in the world, the Japanese Yone Minagawa, died on Monday evening, at the age of 114, according to AFP. She was the holder of the Guiness Book Record as the oldest living human. Now her title is attributed to the American woman Edna Parker, younger than Minagawa by 3 months and 16 days,
born on 20 of April, 1893.The Japanese agency Kyodo has announced that Yone Minagawa, born on the 4 of January 1893, died of age related issues in an asylum in Akaike, Fukuoka Prefecture, southern Japan. She had become the oldest person in the world on January 30, following the death of Emma Faust Tillman, a 114-year-old American, but her state was relatively precarious: she moved in a motorized wheelchair and did not hear well.Parker was born on the same day as silent movie star Harold Lloyd. She had became the oldest living American in February 2007 after the death of Corinne Dixon Taylor who lived in Washington D.C.

Born in Morgan County, Indiana, Parker got a teaching certificate at Franklin College in 1911. She married her husband, Earl Parker, in 1913. She has outlived her husband (who died in 1938) and her two sons, and she has 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren.Currently, she lives in a retirement community in Shelbyville, Indiana, and unlike Minagawa, Parker still has a good health and can walk. In the same retirement center lives Sandy Allen, the tallest woman in the world.Still, Japan detains the world record of average longevity, with about 28.000 persons aged over 100. This is put on the healthy alimentation and quality medical care. Japan possesses one of the longest average life spans, 85.3 years for women and 78.3 for men, and the world's oldest man is also a Japanese, Tomoji Tanabe, 111 years old, born September 18, 1895.The world's absolute longevity record is detained by the French woman Jeanne Calment, which died in 1997, aged 122.

42 Loudspeakers and 6 Channels in a Box? Yamaha YSP4000 "Surround Bar"

Well folks, it looks like October will bring very good things closer to our craving fingers and ears, as the Yamaha YSP-4000 will be on the loose then. You still have some 2 and a half months to have about $1,800 ready by then, so you can be sure you'll get this wonderful piece of audio surround tech.

So, what's on, might you ask? The Yamaha YSP-4000, that's what's on. This large loudspeaker is called a Sound Projector; it is the result of long researches following the success of the initial YSP-1, but everything has been taken to the next level or even the next level after it as the Yamaha YSP-4000 manages to embed pretty much all the tech support you could ever dream about these days.

Basically, the Yamaha YSP-4000 is a large box loaded (and I really mean LOADED) with no less than 42 speakers: 40 "beam drivers" and 2 woofers, all administered by most complex sound processors and crossovers, managing to reproduce the sound and feel of real 6-channel sound arrays spread in your room.

The Yamaha YSP-4000 sports nothing but the wiring connected at the back panel and can reside above or below your TV, on a stand or shelf, or even wall-mounted in the case of flatpanel TVs.

The Yamaha YSP-4000 comes XM Satellite Radio ready and sports 2 HDMI input/outputs; even more, there is little technology not present in the Yamaha YSP-4000 or at least fully supported. This Sound Projector runs with XMHD, Neural Surround, HDMI, Dolby Digital, Pro logic II, DTS, SRS and is... you've guessed it, iPod-ready as well. You name it, the YSP-4000 sports it!

Even if the Yamaha YSP-4000 is not a wall-wrecker, the 6-channeled 120W are more than enough to fill your room with rich, enveloping sound. If you feel like getting rid of wires in your surround sound endeavors and are a sucker for new, very cool tech, the Yamaha YSP-4000 may be your dream come true.

Windows Vista on Super Nintendo, As Real As Vista on PSP

We're puzzled and confused... How can a console that's at least ten times less powerful than the acclaimed PSP cope with Windows Vista's requirements? It seems that you can find a SNES running a version of
Windows Vista at a Tokyo game shop. Yeah, probably next to a GameBoy running Symbian and a PS3 ... just running.

If the story's for real, we can suppose that a computer freak dismembered some super mini-PC and "stuffed" its components into the good old SNES case. What about the graphics card? What about the 1 or 2GB of RAM needed to run such a powerful OS? In this day and age, you'd need at least a PS3 for such a strange experiment and still chances are you'll destroy your precious console.

Sometimes, even the geekiest gamers and software freaks must know where to draw the line... I recently saw dozens of PSP users bricking their consoles while trying to run Windows XP or Vista on their consoles. There's even a video here below showing you how you can run an OS from Sony's portable wonder, but still I'm puzzled by the fact that people actually believe that such crazy "ports" are possible...

Of all the consoles in the world, why would anyone pick the SNES for a Windows Vista-based experiment? Just let me know when a REAL method to run a decent OS on a console surfaces and I'll be the first to give credit to those hard-working computer geeks trying to turn our gaming devices intro mini computers. If they make it, I wonder if we will ever cope with the lack of a keyboard or a mouse...

Microsoft launches New Xbox 360 After Current Hardware Stocks Exhausts

You don't even know what to believe these days. Rumors take all possible shapes, but when we're talking about the games market and gaming hardware, they sometimes tend to be overstretched. This time however, a rumor about Microsoft prepping to launch new Core and Premium Xbox 360 models, enabled with HDMI outputs and 65nm CPU chips,
sounds very real.

First of all, it was rumored before (numerous times actually) that the electronics giant would roll out an Xbox 360 sporting 65nm CPU chips. It was thought that the Elite would benefit from this exact feature but unfortunately, as soon as it was released, gamers worldwide found out that it was almost the same Xbox 360, only with a bigger hard drive and yes, HDMI output.

An article originating on Opposable Thumbs says this will be the case with the two existing SKUs before the Elite: the Core Xbox 360 and the Premium Xbox 360: "According to my source, Microsoft wants to cut through all their existing inventory of hardware. They will then quietly "soft launch" a new version of the Core and Premium hardware in late August or September that will include an HDMI port. It's also expected that this new hardware will feature the 65nm process for the CPU and quieter DVD drives. The new hardware will ship in boxes very similar to what we saw on store shelves now, but there will be a small "call out" on the box so you know you're getting a system with the HDMI connection."

Microsoft will most likely not reduce the size of the 360's inner-coolers though, so the machine will probably be of the same size. The fact that chips will be smaller (and let's hope that's the case) will actually presents an advantage. The machine has a history with overheating issues, so for Microsoft to want to start all over again with the same mistakes... it's not likely. Fans will probably just be a lot quieter.

iPhone Hacked to Work with Carriers Worldwide

It seems that efforts to break the iPhone out of the shackles that Apple as placed on it are going extremely well, with the first true full application becoming available just a few days ago, now huge progress has been made on the carrier side. By using a SIM reader/writer, a special SIM card can be created that will allow the phone to wok on virtually any network.

The method is rather complex and consists of reading the information from the AT&T SIM card that came with the iPhone and the SIM card that you intend to use the phone with, and combining this information to create a new SIM card. The resulting SIM will be accepted by the iPhone, because it will think it is the original AT&T card it came with, and it will also be accepted by the carrier in your country because they will believe that it is the card that you used to gather the information from.

This process has already been tested by several users of the Hackintosh forum, with success. The process has worked with O2 in the UK and with an unknown carrier in Macedonia among others, and there is no indication that the process will not work fine in any and all countries. As expected, there is a high level of interest in this particular hack, however, the technical complexity of the task, the required hardware as well as the need for a special version of the SIM card that will be used make it an arduous process.

The results of the hack are excellent, with both calls and text messages working perfectly, both incoming and outgoing. Visual voice mail will obviously not work because the carrier needs to support it, but regular voice mail can still be accessed, simply by calling the number that you did with your old phone. Data is also a slight issue because of the fact that European carriers do no support EDGE, however, Wi-Fi works fine, and when Apple does release a 3G iPhone that will work perfectly.

While so far the interest in this method of unlocking iPhones is restricted to just hardcore fans, it could easily become widespread. Money-wise, this hack will cost approximately $100, however, the bulk of this is the hardware needed to be able to read and write SIM cards, the blank card that actually gets used in the process usually costing under $10. As such, large scale iPhone unlocking can be incredibly cheap as the hardware is reused. With bulk unlocks, the cost per iPhone could become as low as $15, and with the possibility of the device working in countries where potential customers might have many months to wait until the official launch, sales of unlocked iPhone could become a very profitable business. Apple is expected to put a stop to this sooner or later, however because the hack is at the SIM level, the company might not be able to even detect such hacked phones, let alone prevent them from happening.
