It was weird being home even more weird when Mom and Dad asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I had no idea, so I told them just to surprise me. The day of my birthday we had family dinner and it of course was nice enough to have it in the back yard. We had dinner, played croquet, had dessert, and then gifts. Mom and Dad gave me a DVD/VCR converter. It was able to convert VHS tapes into DVD form so they could be watched without needing a VCR. Then those that wouldn't convert over, it was still a VCR so you could still watch them. It was a nice addition to the TV that I bought before my mission. They even set me up with a surround sound system. Nothing fancy, just a sound bar and 4 small speakers. I guess you could say they were setting me up for my future place. The best part was being able to celebrate again with my family.

Life
What do missionaries do when they get home...try to figure out how to be a normal adults in life. Tiffany was able to hook me up with an application to work at the daycare she worked for. I interviewed and was hired on the spot. I was grateful and surprised how quickly that happened. I wasn't assigned a class, but was officially called the floater. I floated from class to class giving the teachers their lunch breaks. It gave me a small taste of what I thought I wanted when I was still pursuing education to become a teacher.
I quickly realized working there that being a teacher was not in my future, but could at least stand what I was doing at the daycare. Eventually I was assigned to a class. I was only an assistant for that class, but it meant knowing what I would actually be doing each day. I was assigned to help assist the Kindergarten class. This further reaffirmed to me that I wasn't cut out to be a teacher. I was just grateful to help out where needed instead of being the one in charge.
Now that a job was underway I debated going back to school. I applied for financial aid and enrolled for the fall semester 2006. I was able to work things out at work were I would be able to do both. I went and attend my first week and was so in over my head that I ended up pulling out and cancelling the semester. Luckily I wasn't dinged with an additional student loan for only a week of school. Now that that was done, I just focused on work until Ben came home.
