For me that meant we planned on being in each others life and eventually marriage. I wasn't sure when it would be, I just knew it would be. So I slowly took steps to prepare for that.
Mom and I went to Swiss Days in Midway and while there we were able to find different things that we could use for our receptions. I even shopped for and bought wedding dress. I wanted to make sure that we had what we needed if it happened sooner than I thought. I even made arrangements for Ben and I to move into Mom and Dad's basement. Sadly that meant Taycina needed to move out. She wasn't very happy about that, but she understood and started looking for a new place.
The day finally came for Ben's arrival. We planned a surprise homecoming dinner for him with his closest friends and family. We met at the Wright's house and when he walked in I was almost struck dumb. I hadn't seen him in a long time and I wasn't sure what to say. We had no problem writing each other, but now face to face would take work and get use to again. I was ready for the challenge and I just hoped he would be too.
It was a little awkward at first, but it quickly went like clockwork. We had some serious conversations in a short period of time. We talked about getting married and we both agreed that is where our paths were taking us.
He got back in the swing of things and got a job working at Associated Foods with his brother. Between his work and mine, we tried to spend as much time together as we could. I worked days and he worked nights. We saw each other for maybe an hour or two a day, not including weekends. In those short periods of time we were able to really get to know each other better, more fully than we had before. We had our first official kiss 2 weeks after he came home and the next day he proposed.
He took me to Salt Lake. We stopped for lunch and did a session. Then we just drove around. We then found ourselves at Memorial park. I had never been there before. Ben pulled over and we got out. He told me that we were going to go for a walk. We walked the whole park. We eventually took me to a path that slowly zig zagged up the hill. We stopped a few times before getting to the top. I thought that each time we stopped he was going to propose, but no dice. We found our way to the top and stood there watching the sun start to go down. He then turned to me and said I was prettier than the sunset. I'm not sure what else he said after that, all I could see was the ring and him down on one knee. I of course said yes and he kissed me. We then headed back down the path and back to the car.
When we got home I could tell my parents knew all about it. Ben had even talked to my dad without me knowing. I was really impressed and couldn't wait to start the next chapter of our lives together.
After talking to Mom and Dad a little bit about our day we then went out to dinner to Catus Red's to celebrate with some friends; Taycina, Karen, Brian, Melissa, and Brandon.
Now the fun part was about to begin. Time to plan a wedding.
