Birthday finishing touches

Last but not least, we had Gabbi's Sunday birthday dinner. It was mom and dad's turn to cook and Gabbi asked for Mac n' cheese. Crazy huh, no surprise. Taycina, my friend, had the best recipe, so I gave it to mom and she did the rest. She added a pork roast and salad to go with it. The whole meal was really really good. After dinner we cleaned up and then just let the kids play while we waited for dad to get home from work. When dad got home it was time for the cake and presents. Mom did a great job on the cake. A two layered raspberry jello cake. It was so yummy and on top mom had placed some barbie stuff to go along with the theme of her birthday. This whole theme aspired from mom asking Gabbi what she wanted for her birthday. Gabbi had told Nana that she wanted a doll. Mom asked her what kind and some how she said Barbie. I was surprised because she had never really played with Barbie's much unless she was at her cousins house. So when mom told me that she wanted a barbie mom and I decided that it would be fun to make her a barbie house. I was waiting for Miranda to grow out of hers and pass it on. It was unrealistic, but it was a thought. So we broke down and made her one. We found a doll house shaped bookcase and added some fairy godmother magic. It turned out really cute. We made the furniture for the bedroom and front room and then mom and dad gave her furniture for the rest of the house. It turned out great and she loves it. I was afraid she wouldn't just because we worked so hard to put it all together. Put all the hard work paid off.
Even Owen had fun playing with the Barbie stuff. I know the pictures not the best, but his mouth is making the sounds of a car. It was cute. He loves his cars.

Birthday Movie

The weekend of her birthday we also decided to go to dinner and a movie. The movie definitely wasn't for her, but she loved going anyway. We went to a new pasta place on 7th and Washington. The best part about the dinner was eating dinner in our PJ's. All of us were ready for the drive in. I almost can't believe that I went out to a restaurant in my pajama's. On the flip side, it was actually really good. The crust was the best part, that sold it for me. Then we went to mom and dad's to pop popcorn and then we headed for the drive in. When we got to the drive in we set up the Jeep by putting the seats down, laying down blankets, and setting up the computer for the kids. The kids watched Cars 2 and Barbie, while Ben and I watched Wrath of the Titans and Journey 2 the center of the earth. Gabbi watched a little bit of Journey, but she said she was to tired to watch the rest of it. The movies are our thing. We all love it. On a side note: the small picture at the top of the post is me playing with Owen with a straw. To entertain him, he loves to play with straws, but this time, I was using the straw to blow in his face. He opened his mouth so wide one time, so I blew into his mouth. He thought that was hilarious. He wanted his turn and he did pretty good seeing how he made never blown through a straw before. It was cute.

Nail Polish

I went out to go get my nails done and I can home to chaos. When I opened the door and came in Owen came running. To m y surprise his face had nail polish all over it. It looked like he had eaten my nail polish brush. When I saw Ben he told me to ask Gabbi what happened. I went and found her and she had nail polish on her shirt. A brand new one. I was ticked. When she stopped crying she explained to me what happened. She said she found my nail polish downstairs and wanted to paint her nail. That was true, I did leave my polish downstairs, but I had the gate up when I left. She had taken the gate down so she could get into the living room. She told me that she was painting her nails and Owens. The funny thing was, neither of their nails had any polish on it. The polish was on Owen's face and hands, the ottoman, and my fireplace bricks. As soon as I heard that, I sent her to her room, and I started to try to wash Owen's hand off. I had some nail polish remover and I tried that. It worked, but I ended up having to go to the store to get more. When I got back Ben had Owen pretty much cleaned. Poor kid had a red face when he was done. Gabbi got her butt spanked and sent to bed early while I tired to get my ottoman and bricks cleaned. It made me so mad, I just had my nails done. I had to file and repaint my nails. It was almost like I wasted the money I just spent. Urrrrg, kids.
The end game of the nail polish remover and rags. I used a half a bottle of nail polish remover to get everything clean. The only thing that didn't come out clean was of course Gabbi's shirt. That upset me. It was brand new. It was the first time she even wore it.
At least he's happy about the whole thing. His poor face though. He was red all around his mouth.

Hiking

For Young Men's, Ben and the other leaders were taking the boys hiking. They are conditioning for their summer trip to Kodiak. Ben wanted to help me out and I think he just really wanted to spend time with his son, but he decided to take Owen with him. He took the pouch pack and they headed to the church. While the boys were gone Gabbi and I played with the new barbie clothes that she picked out at the store that day with her birthday money. When the boys got back, Owen had the biggest smile. Ben said that he just loved it. He was wide eyed and full of excitement. Ben said that a few time he would put his hands in Owen's face just to see if he was asleep and Owen would hurry and smack them out of the way. They had a blast, the young men may not have liked him there, but Owen loved it. Ben wants to take him again.

Birthday money

Gabbi loved celebrating her birthday. She was so happy with all of her visitors and with all the great things she got. One of the things she got was some birthday money. After putting aside tithing and savings, she decided that she wanted to spend her birthday money. So we went to the store and here is what she picked out.

Open House

After we were done with dinner, we headed home for the rest of the evenings activities. When we got home we quickly set up the chairs and a table in the back yard and then we just let the kids play while waiting for Gabbi's family and friends to come over. We had a really good turn out and I'm glad because Gabbi loves attention. When ever someone came and gave her a gift she quickly grabbed her chair and put it in the middle of the circle so everyone could see her open her presents. She had so much fun being the center of attention. When she wasn't opening a present she was playing with her cousins. When it was time to bring out the cake she was so excited. She wanted a barbie birthday, so we made her a barbie cake. I wasn't willing to go crazy about the cake, just wanted to make it simple but still cute. I just did a sheet cake and barbie decorations on top. Its was very simple, but she still loved it. Thank you to all those who came and made Gabbi's day that much better.

Gabbi's 4th Birthday

The next few posts will all be about Gabbi turning 4. It feels like we celebrated for almost 2 weeks. It has always been easier to do 2 separate parties, there are just to many people to crowd into our place. We started off the festivities with taking Gabbi out to eat. She wanted Mac n' cheese for dinner, so we took her to Texas Roadhouse. We heard they had some really good mac n' cheese, plus when they sing to you they put you on the saddle. We thought that Gabbi would really love that. When Ben got home from work, he got cleaned up and we headed for a night of fun. We got there early enough that we didn't have to wait at all and we got an awesome server. Gabbi of course got her mac n' cheese, which she loved and she got a lot of attention from the server. She had so much fun. When they put her on the saddle she had the worlds biggest grin. They gave her a puzzle and a bag of peanuts. I think the peanuts was her favorite part. She would have ate them for her dinner if we had let her.

Garden

Yea, we finally got the garden planted. I hope this year things grow better then last year. We planted starts: zucchini, cucumber, spaghetti's squash, Roma tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, sweet peas, and yellow onions. We planted bean and carrot seeds. I really do hope that they work out this year.

Owen with Major

Here are a cute photo or two with Owen and Major from the birthday party. I know its not the best pictures of the two of them, but Owen kept moving around Major, I had a hard time getting a descent picture.

April Birthday Dinner

We try to get together at least once a month with the entire Sagez family. We get together to celebrate all the birthday's of that month. This time around Amanda and Karen planned the get together. We got together at Amanda and Dan's house this time. They planned for us to have a bar-b-que. They made some killer chicken. It was really good. We all of course brought sides to go along with it. The whole dinner was really good. And of course, what's a dinner without dessert? Pies and cookies. The kids favorite part was of course was the cookies. We had a really nice evening visiting and playing games. The kids played with toys while watching a movie. It was cute to watch the girls play with the Barbie's that Gabbi got for her birthday and when Owen tried to play with Barbie, he was shunned. So he played with the Gator golf the Gabbi got as well. All the kids had a lot of fun. The cutest thing was Owen. He chased around Amanda and Dan's dog the whole night. Major was laying next to the slid glass window and Owen went over and plopped himself down right next to him. What a good puppy, he let Owen do whatever and wasn't bugged by it at all.

Drive In

We went to our first Drive in of the season. I was very surprised to hear that it was open already. I didn't think they opened until Memorial Day, but Ben came home from work with a hankering to go to the movies and it was the Drive in that he wanted to go to. We had plans to have Jeff and Taycina over for dinner that night and we asked them if they wanted to join us. Sadly they weren't able to, they had something early the next morning. When dinner was over, we packed the car and headed for the Drive in. We wanted to see a movie that the kids could enjoy as well. We went and saw Mirror Mirror and the Lorax. The kids had a blast. Gabbi loved Mirror Mirror and Owen loved the Lorax. It was cute. Gabbi stayed awake for the 1st show, but fell asleep for the 2nd. Owen fell asleep for the 1st show, but woke up for the 2nd. I'm glad he did. He absolutely loved the Lorax. When ever the Lorax was on the screen, he was glued to it. It was so much fun. First of many this summer, I'm sure.

4 year old pictures

I can't believe my baby is turning 4. Her birthday is in a couple of days, so we went out to take her picture. We decided to do a staircase theme this year. Gabbi had a blast finding all different types of staircases. They turned out great. Here are a few.
