Uinta

Ben, being the Young Men's 1st Counselor is in charge of planning a High Adventure for his boys. He had planned to go to the Uintas in June, but where they wanted to go was still covered my snow, so they pushed it back to August. In order to prepare for his trip, he wanted to do a reconnaissance trip to check things out. So we made it a Family activity.

We planned to go up there, hike a little, and even have a picnic lunch. When we got there it was going to cost money for us to hike for the day, so that became out of the question since we didn't bring any cash with us. But we got permission to drive up to where Ben wanted to take the boys and take a few pictures.

After leaving the Ranger's station we drove to the designated area that the Ranger showed us. When we got there, it was packed. I have never seen so many people try to cram into one area before. It was crazy. We waited for a good 15 to 20 minutes for a parking spot just to take a few pictures and to scout out the hike for Ben and his boys.
After getting a few pictures of the hike, we let the kids play for a little bit to stretch their legs.
After letting them run around, we drove up a little farther to the lake that they would visit as well. The kids had a blast walking and playing all over the rocks. They even found a few fisherman and were very curious as to what they were doing. Ben promised them that once he got his fishing license he would take fishing. They were both really excited about that.
I do have to admit, it was beautiful to see and the weather was great. I would live up there just for the coolness of the weather (during the summer). It was nice to get out of 90+ degree weather to the cool 67 degrees.
After a stroll around the lake we got back into the car and drove around to find a place for out picnic lunch.

We ended up  finding a mice camping area with plenty of shade. We pulled out the blanket, sat down, and ate lunch.
After our lunch, we cleaned up and went for a walk. It wasn't the hike that we wanted, but it was the best we could do.
After our walk was over, we packed the kids back in the Van went to head home. On the way out we were blocked by a fallen tree. Ben went to back up not seeing a rock that was practically buried in the ground (not deep enough). When Ben tried to turn around he ran over this rock and it sounded bad, plus we were stuck we couldn't go any further. He backed up instead and the sound was worse, but we did get free. We both got out of the car, he had un-buried a large portion of the rock while dislodging a part of our plastic undercarriage. It also broke a section of it off. I gathered all our broken pieces and we got back in the car.

The drive home was nice, the kids fell asleep and I read a loud the book Ben and I are reading. When we got home, Ben check the under side of the Van and was eventually able to reconnect a portion of the plastic piece, but it was need to be replaced.
