Sleepover

Tonight, we attended Grandma Hadley's viewing. We had to prepare the kids to go although they knew that this day was coming. The last time we visited Grandma Hadley, she couldn't hold herself up, she couldn't respond when you talked to her, and her colors were so off. It was hard to see her in that way after seeing her in her prime.

When went to the mortuary early since we were family and that was kind of expected, or at least that's what I thought, we also wanted to be there for Annie. When we went inside, the kids walked around searching for her and when they found her they ran up and gave her a big big hug. We joined them and asked her how she was doing. She said that she was fine considering, which was to be suspected. After seeing Annie, since the viewing had just opened, we walked through the line to say our last goodbyes and then went and sat in the pews and waited for other family to arrive.

After a while, we were all accounted for, and did our best to help comfort one another. At one point some of us were pretty loud, telling jokes and laughing. It felt weird, but i guess it's better to laugh than it is to cry. When everything wound down, they girls had made a plan and came over to ask us parents. They wanted to have a sleepover and they wanted to have it at Amanda's house. This one surprised me, even more so when Amanda said yes. If she was okay with it, so were we. They all ran off excited to be having a sleepover and planned to meet up at the funeral in the morning.

After getting home, we got a text from Amanda. She had sent us a picture of the girls while at Zeppe's. They had gone to get a bedtime snack. They all had big smiles and looked like they were having fun. I hope that is the case when we see them tomorrow.
