After situating the kids, Ben and I headed to the theater. We went to a theater that we had never been to before and I couldn't believe how much more expensive it was than the Megaplex. They had a military discount, but it was hardly anything, $.50 a person. I haven't spent that much on movie tickets in the longest time. That meant no snacks from the concession counter. With that we headed straight to the theater and found our seats.
The movie was really good. Some don't find these types of shows as entertaining as I do, but it was really well done. A good representation of what happened in this particular event and time. It was the story of a Harvard graduate, Bryan Stevenson who heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or those not afforded proper representation. One of his first cases is that of Walter McMillian, who is sentenced to die in 1987 for the murder of an 18 year old girl, despite evidence proving his innocence. In the years that follow, Stevenson encounters racism and legal and political maneuverings as he tirelessly fights for McMillian's life.
