Tonight, the Young Men/Young Women had a combined activity of caroling at the Stewart Community Home. It's not a home for seniors, but a home for the disabled and homeless. The home is designed to provide safe permanent and transitional housing for adults not capable of completely caring for themselves due to mental illness, as well as physical or intellectual disabilities. It provides a fully staffed kitchen that serves three meals a day and two snacks throughout the day, 7 days a week. It also provides a medical stabilization program, life skills training by qualified staff to increase deficits in basic living skills, case management to assess resident's needs and link them to services, and necessary transportation to appointments. Each resident is carefully assessed to identify their particular needs and increase their potential success.
Bro. Stewart and his wife created the Community Home and set up tonight's activity. It's not the first time that our ward has gone caroling at the home either. It's something their tenants enjoy, so it has become an annual event. He greeted us at the door and told us that their Christmas party had just finished dinner and was excited for their entertainment...us. We walked to their cafeteria and stood at the front. After announcing us to the group, we sang 5 different Christmas carols. Those in attendance even joined in on the last song.
