Cast

Today's the day or at least we hoped. It's only been 26 days since William broke his arm, but because it was a clean and minor break, they said that he wouldn't have to be in a cast as long as some other breaks. We really needed him to be able to have it off today since we were about to head out of town, and he was getting baptized while in Utah. I didn't want to have to mess with a grocery sack, but we would if needed.

We checked in and sat down until they called our name. We didn't have to wait very long before the X-ray tech came and called his name. They wanted to get another x-ray to see his progress and basically tell whether or not it was safe for him to have it off. The tech was really good with William and was joking all the way back to the room. It put William at ease, which was nice. When he was done, he took us back to the cast room where we waited for the Orthopedic specialist.

When he came into the room, I was happy to see that he had the tools to take the cast off. He said that the X-ray looked good and as long as he kept it in a brace for the next 2 weeks, then William would be good to go. I was happy to agree to that and said yes. He then talked to William and explained what he was going to do. William just smiled and said he knew all about it and was ready to go. It made me laugh. Apparently, we're old pros at this. Once the cast was off, he cleaned up the scraps and then pulled out a wrist brace. He showed us how to put it on and the care that we needed to follow. William then gave him a thumbs up and we were on our way.
