A Broken Finger and Still an Intramural Champion!

Last week in Sam's intramural softball semi-finals game he took a line drive to his ring finger. His nail got jammed back and popped through his skin below his cuticle and the the tip of this finger was unnaturally hanging down. Yep, he broke it and it was bleeding quite a bit. Since he is on a team of med students they all looked at it and decided that it was broken. However, Sam still wanted to play in the game so he decided that he would clean it up, snap it back in place and have his buddy tape it up. SERIOUSLY??!! Good thing I wasn't at the game! He continued playing in the rest of the game, hitting and fielding the best he could. I don't know if it was manliness or stupidity!! His team actually ended up winning that game and the next day was to be the championship game. On the way home Sam called his buddy who is a orthopedic resident and told him what happened and was told to come see him in the morning. He went into his office and got it x-rayed and it was confirmed that it was indeed broken. His friend said that he could have surgery and get pins put in it or wear a splint for 4 weeks. Of course, we have opted for the splint. Supposedly, Sam is to have full mobility and no permanent damage to his finger.
Sam actually did play in the championship game and did pretty well. Finally, an intramural Champion!! His team was really excited!!

The finger

The old med school men team. They can still whoop up on the young undergrad guys! Sam really does go to school with a bunch of nice guys. This is the picture that is going to go up in the rec center! With dad after the big victory!! He loved going to the games. He liked playing with the dogs there more than watching the game. I know James' outfit is awful! He was wearing a striped romper and no socks or shoes when we arrived at the game. As it got later it started to get colder and this is the jacket and socks that were in the diaper bag. All pieces cute individually but NOT together! Too many different colored stripes! Haha!

9 Months!

Really? How? How is my baby 9 months?! That means he has been outside the womb as long as he was in! We sure love our guy!

9 month stats:
-Weighs 19 lbs 3 oz- 25% percentile
-27 3/4 inches

He now can drink out of a straw and loves it!
Easter outfit! Thanks Nonie and Papa!

This is at our local Science Museum. It has a great area for little kids. We go about once a week.
Every time we brush our teeth with our electric toothbrush James wants to put his mouth on the toothbrush. It must feel good on his gums. Kinda weird and funny. Yes, I know my child is wearing Halloween pjs and it is April!
Doing what he loves to do-take everything out of the fridge! He is obsessed with the fridge, dryer, and pantry. Whenever they are open he hustles over to them to try to play in them. He also loves opening drawers and cabinets.

He is also into yelling/squealing/babbling all the time! Please ignore the yogurt face.

Check out the two bottom teeth. The two top teeth are coming in too.

First little shiner on his eye. He hit our footboard. I'm sure this is the first of many!

Helping dad get his bath ready. I have never seen a cuter hinie! I finally have been putting him in the regular tub.

Grandma and Aunt Cindy!

Last week Grandma and Aunt Cindy came down and visited for a week! We loved having them here! James was a little bit of a pill since he is starting to get some separation anxiety and just wanted to be with his mama. There isn't a ton to do in Lubbock but we tried to show them a good time. We went to parks, walks, children's museum, ball games, and lots of eating out! Grandma and Aunt Cindy offered to watch James so I could run errands and work out alone! Sam and I were even able to sneak away and go on a date. It was so nice! We love you guys and can't wait to see you in June!

First Purchased Package of Diapers

This is the first package of diapers that we have bought since we have had James (except on vacation)!! Amazing! For my baby shower in Houston guests were asked to bring diapers to participate in a drawing for a prize. Everyone brought some. It has saved us soo much money! Thanks Jess for the great shower idea!
