Sobering - my very bad mommy day

Last night the kids were playing outside & I was inside with the door open when I heard Max start crying... the HURT cry.  I ran outside & found Max laying on his back by the trampoline.  He had been trying to climb up & the big kids didn't want him on there so they pushed him down.  He landed with his head less than an inch from the edge of the concrete patio. I of course FREAKED out at Nathan & Alexa.  They went to bed immediately (it was 7pm) & didn't fall asleep until after 8 but didn't even come out of their room.  They knew they were in trouble. All I could think about is that if he had been pushed just a little harder, he could have cracked his head on the patio.  He could have died. That sounds really dramatic but any mother would understand. So to avoid obsessing about it, & because I felt defeated, I took a sleeping pill and was asleep before 8:30. Then today... I took the kids to the park.  Our park is right...

Babies Sleep Anywhere

Image
Max is too big for a pack-n-play but still in a crib. So since Grandpa is here I decided to just put his mattress on my floor. He went right to sleep (the kid LOVES his bed). An hour later, he was like this. I just love this boy.

Grandpa Visits!

Image
Grandpa is here for a visit!  Just a short one for business -- one night -- but we made sure to get plenty of fun in!  After a yummy dinner at Chipotle, we played on the trampoline! Grandma sent Easter treats with Grandpa for the kids (although I somehow don't think they'll be the ones eating the bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs..)  One of the presents was this funny egg-laying chicken-- check it out!

Garden

Image
We have a beautiful vegetable garden out back that I can take absolutely no credit for.  Sam & his dad take care of it all!  We're clearing out our winter garden to make room for the summer garden so the kids & I spent the afternoon outside picking all of the peas & carrots.  They were such good helpers cleaning the carrots and taking the stems off.  And they loved eating them too!  What a beautiful day outside!

Friends

These are our friends, the Bakers.  I babysit them some & the kids love to play! Alexa (3 1/2), Eli (4 1/2), Max (almost 2), Nathan (3 1/2), Emmy (10 mo), Dora (3)

Grandpa Great & Grammy 2012

Image
Grandpa Great & Grammy {Partridge} came to see us this weekend.  The past 3 years, they've made it down in March to visit us in Texas!  They DRIVE here!  They're not your average great grandparents.  They run around with the kids & are so much fun!  I even put them to work during this trip-- they helped me plant flowers in the yard! I am one lucky girl to have such wonderful grandparents.  I am SO grateful that my kids love & know them.  We can't wait for the next visit!  Love you Grandpa Great & Grammy!!

St. Patrick's Day

Image
To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, we went to to zoo!  Well, not really... we went because Grammy & Grandpa Great are here to visit!  We had a great time & enjoyed the good weather.  The Zoo is always a hit!

First Dentist Visit

Image
On Monday, March 5th, I took the kids to the dentist for the first time.  They all did great-- no cavities!  I was so proud of Max, he got right up to get his teeth cleaned first & opened his mouth really well!  Alexa was pretty nervous about having stuff put in her mouth but once the hygienist told her she would make her teeth sparkle like a princess, she was sold!  So happy we went to a pediatric dentist!  They were great!

Pahn-keeks

Image
This kid is OBSESSED with pancakes.  He says it so cute... PAHN-KEEKS... it sounds kind of like a little middle-eastern boy saying it. :) It's 3pm, he just got up from his nap, and he wants... you guessed it... PANCAKES!

My Kidney Disease

This is my family journal & I'd like to keep it that way.  For that reason, I've created a new blog to document my kidney disease & treatment.  Its a way for me to journal what's going on, keep people who want to know updated, and hopefully help someone else who has the same diagnosis. I won't be posting many updates on my condition on this blog but I will include a link to my kidney blog on the sidebar.  Anytime you'd like to check in on me, feel free to pop in. http://mykidneyshatemeblog.blogspot.com/

Utah/Colorado Trip

Image
On Valentines Day, the kids & I got up bright & early & headed to the airport.  The kids were pretty good on the plane with the help of movies, snacks & naps... and an extra seat! We had a fun week in Utah at Grandpa & Grandma's house, playing with cousins & visiting friends & family. Alexa & I had some special time together getting our hair done & then going with Aunt Michelle, Kayla, Grandma, Aunt Amanda, & Carly to the Ice Skating Exhibition celebrating 10 years since the Olympics.  It was awesome!  Mitt Romney spoke & they did a lot of presentations on the behind the scenes stuff, including the awesome volunteers.  My Grandpa Gines had been one of the volunteers; it was one of the highlights of his life.  He would have loved the show!! Of course the highlight of the whole trip was meeting my new nephew Hunter.  He is so PRECIOUS!  We were over at Zack & Hilary's house as much as possible. ...
