Back in Scotland

We are back in Scotland! I know it has been a very long time since my last post. For the last two weeks of my trip in Houston we weathered Hurricane Ike and lived without power, no phone and unpredictable water. The hilariously ironic part is that the power came back at my Mom and Dad's house just hours after I left.
We had a good trip back to Houston and it has been non-stop ever since we touched down. As soon as things started to slow down I came down with some bug that has pretty much knocked me off my feet and into my bed. But I am finally back nonetheless!
Well, I went to download the photos from my digital camera from my trip to the US and there was 355! Fear not, I will not show you all three houndrad and fifty five but I will give you the highlights from where I left off last...
To be quite honest, I cannot really remember much before Hurricane Ike but I will post a few photos to walk you through the last month.
Papa and Grammie have come to visit us in Scotland which is awesome because we already started to miss them.
The day after I arrived back in Scotland I went to the ladies' day away, in Aviemore (about an hour away), with the Free Church. It was a wonderful ladies event. Andrew watched the kids - they went grass sledding and I was able to enjoy a ride at the end.
Gideon getting yet another haircut just before we left to go back to Scotland.
Gaius helping Papa prepare for the hurricane.
Gaius "helping" Papa lay the power cords for the generator to run the fridge and other bare necessities. We received a generator from friends who had gotten their power back.

Photos of the aftermath of IKE - we had a big clean-up job at Mom and Dad's house in north Houston. The house, however, was fine and we had no water damage so we were blessed.
Despite hurricane IKE's best efforts we were still able to celebrate Papa's big birthday!
Grammie bought chalk for Gaius. He did color a little bit on the ground also.
We ate out A LOT after IKE. I took the kids to McDonalds for their $1 hamburger and indoor (air conditioned) play area!
I just loved this photo of Gaius and me. We are at my sister Aileen's wedding - it was a wonderful day!
Gideon slept through the wedding with the babysitter but he came down to join the party at the reception. This is Gideon with his Auntie Aileen and new Uncle David who we just love and gladly welcome into the family along with his dear children.
Don't the girls just look beautiful. This is my sister Aileen and my nieces.
Papa and the cousins (Chaz, Gaius and Dominic) after the wedding ceremony.
My parents and Aileen before the ceremony.

We stayed in lots of different places during our trip to the States. The kids were great!

This portion of the beach at Galveston is no longer there--it is now under water. We had a nice visit to Galveston a month before Hurricane Ike.
Saved by the power guys from North Carolina! They arrived the day before we left and finished the day we left! I was so glad to know that my parents had their power back.
