Further to Dr Heiser’s view on Jesus being born in 3 BC.
I think I’ve found another clue other than the astronomy. I don’t recall him linking the Temple expansion timing to this, but I may be wrong.
Herod the Great started expanding the Second Temple in 20BC.
John 2:20 “It has taken 46 years building the Temple” – this would be in 26AD.
Luke 3:23 “Jesus was around 30 years old when He started His ministry” – but Jesus is only 26 or so if born at the point BC switches to AD.
Whereas if Jesus were born in 3BC, then in 26AD that would make Him around 29-30 years old.
