Muslim Prayer Room at Catholic Secondary School.

I’m tired of this and it makes me more militant about secularism than I want to be.

You cannot teach, that is get a full-time contract with the Ontario Catholic School boards unless you are a Catholic.  Our current Ontario Premiere Dalton McGuinty put that legislation through I think it was back in the year 2000.  It’s legal.  They have the right to only hire Catholic teachers for long-term full-time positions.  Getting a job in the Public School System right now is nearly impossible.  So, if you want to teach and you have no problem with conversion whether you believe it or not, convert to Catholicism.   You’ll better your options for getting a job.  I was talking with a friend recently who told me an entire family converted to Catholicism in order to get their children into a Catholic school  that is near their residence.  This way the children can cross the road to school and not have to be bused.

This year I heard a round-table discussion on t.v. (I don’t remember the show.  If I remember I’ll insert it here at a later time.)  The topic?  Catholic teachers not being very Catholic.  That’s right.  Not attending Mass on a regular basis, which I’m sure has implications regarding confessional issues.  God!  What kind of teachers are teaching our kids if they haven’t been in the confessional to tell Father about their continued issues with masturbation?  Apparently there is a dogmatic push for Catholic’s to start looking like Catholics by practicing Catholic behaviour in Catholic churches.  Too many Catholics are too liberal and too cavalier about their Catholicism.  In other words, they aren’t good Catholics.  *sigh*  Yes, let’s police those bad Catholics and dump their sorry asses on to the unemployment sidewalk because they haven’t met Mass attendance requirements.   Why anyone thinks that looking more Catholic makes anyone a Catholic or a better Catholic or an honourable Catholic is beyond me.

And now . . . now a prayer room for the Muslim students.  Several years ago a crucifix had to come down from the wall in one of the Catholic school classrooms because a Muslim student was offended by the cross.  I don’t get it.  The system is dogmatically set up for Catholicism and it grows more dogmatic it seems to me as the Catholics turn up their evangelistic efforts.  Yet, what is this prayer room all about?  I don’t get it.  I’m for secular education in our schools.  If you want your children educated in religion, do it at home and in your faith-based buildings.  If we teach religion in our schools then teach them all.  If we allow a Muslim prayer room then set one up for all religions and don’t forget one for atheists.  Okay, so we atheists don’t pray but we wouldn’t mind having a room where we could gather and reason together.

I’m a girl.

Here I am second best.

My habit is black.

It covers me.

I submit to him and Him.

Muslim to Christian.

I am raped at three.

For my father’s sin.

Of conversion.

Hidden in fear.

Cut again, I bleed.

No children ever but

I am repaired.

I smile now for freedom

But I’ll never forget

Two nights ago, I watched a W5 (television program here, something like 20/20 in the States.)

I’m not going to give links and such or try to get the names right.  I just want to write.  The poem above was stirred by the program.

A young Muslim man from Pakistan converted to Christianity at age 18.

He eventually comes to Canada.

He is troubled by the persecution of Pakistani Christians and as a grown man now works to help Christians live underground in both Pakistan and Canada.  Yes, Canada.  So they won’t get sent back to Pakistan. 

He helps hide a family in Pakistan.  Their 3 year old daughter was raped by a Muslim man to punish the girl’s father for converting to Christianity.  I never hear her current age, but I know she looks no older than 9 years old.  She’s had five surgeries to repair the damage done to her by the man who raped her.  She will never urinate normally again and she will never be able to get pregnant.  They show the scars from her surgeries.

We’re never told how but he spends three years getting passports for the family and he actually gets them out of Pakistan.  They arrive in Toronto.  People from a church are there to greet them.  They put up $20,000 to fly that family here.  The church that helped them is The Airport Ministry in Toronto.  A Vineyard church I think.

The man who arranged their freedom risks his life to do this job.  He said he’s willing to die while doing his rescue missions.  And I can’t help but admire what he has done and is doing.

I don’t think there will ever be an answer to the shit that goes on in this world.  Just being here is a mystery.  I live between two realities.  Hating what religion does to this world and loving what it does to this world.

There was a time when as a fundamentalist, I believed that all the dead who had not at some point in their lifetime, cried out to God & believed in God’s Son Jesus Christ, before they died, went to hell. It was the destination for those who did not believe in the born-againism of the Christianity I was in.

It’s not easy to talk about now. It is not easy to admit. It is however, the truth of the Christianity I once believed in & practiced. The dead in this Tsunami, (if I believed as I once did), if not ‘born-again’ in Christ, could be in no other place then the hell I’d been taught about in the Bible. The Bible that I had read from cover to cover several times. The Bible I studied personally, memorizing large portions of it & the Bible I studied from in Bible college. The Bible I taught from & yes, even preached from, because no matter which way you looked at it, I was a preacher of the Word.

I have heard from some Christians that God has allowed/sent this Tsunami as a warning, a wake-up call. I hear & read apocalyptic terminology as people discuss the horror of what happened in Asia.

It has been reported that the earth has been knocked 2.5 cm. (= 1 inch) off it’s axis. That the quake sped up the earth’s rotation by one one millionth of a second.

During a personal discussion with hubby, I said quietly, “Wouldn’t it be interesting, if for example the earth does get totally knocked off it’s axis & hurdles into outer-space destroying all forms of life…if for maybe 10 or 30 seconds before people die, we could hear the thoughts of those who in shock & horror think to themselves …’Wait, what happened to the Rapture, the Tribulation, the one thousand year reign of Christ? What happened to my dispensational belief? This isn’t the way it’s suppose to hap…………………..'”

I have a friend who responds to disasters with comments like, “People need to turn to God & repent!” Or, “We need to get right with Jesus. God is judging the world for their unbelief.” And, “The Bible speaks of earthquakes, floods & famine. I believe it is the end-times & the Lord’s return is near.” When she speaks this way, I hear a coldness in her voice & she demonstrates a matter-of-fact attitude. If I asked her specific to this disaster, where the souls of these dear fellow human beings are, she would not hesitate to say, “If they did not know Christ, they are in hell.” Today, I can look back to a time when as uncomfortable as it once made me, I basically believed & spoke as she did. Really, there was no other choice. When one believes in Christian born-againism, there is no other way then being ‘born-again.’ To consider anything else as being the ‘truth’ shatters the whole theology of born-againism. It is & can only be a ‘black or white’ proposition. There are no grey areas.

I can’t sit here, in my comfort & blessing, believing for one minute that because I prayed a sinner’s prayer, accepted Christ as my Saviour & became born-again, that I would be or am any more a child of God, destined for heaven & not hell, then those who have died in so-called unbelief. Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Atheist…all part of the human race…all related…all screaming, reaching for the hands of the one’s they loved & for some the hand of the One’s they believe in…quick, furious moments…alive…then dead.

And now…if they were so-called unbelieving souls, belonging not to the house of Christian born-againism…they reside for all eternity in hell?

All I can say is mighty scary what everything is pointing to. We had better say lots of prayers folks, when it comes to this presidential candidate

I have felt for sometime now that Obama is the
one person that ‘Frightens Me’. I believe the Bible has
warned us that ‘A man will come from the East that will be
charismatic in nature and have proposed solutions for all our
problems and his rhetoric will attract many supporters!’

When will our pathetic Nation quit turning their back on God and understand that
this man is ‘A Muslim’….First, Last and Always….and we are AT WAR with
the Muslim Nation, whether our bleeding-heart, secular,
Liberal friends believe it or not. This man fits every description from the Bible
of the ‘Anti-Christ’!

I’m just glad to know that there are others that are frightened by this man!

stepson to Islam. Obama
was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta .

Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists
who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since it is politically
expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major
public office in the United States , Barack Hussein Obama has
joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay
his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was
sworn into office he DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran.
Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegiance nor will he show any
reverence for our flag. While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama
turns his back to the flag and slouches. Do you want someone like this as your PRESIDENT?

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama’s expected presidential candidacy.

The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what
better way to start than at the highest level – through the
President of the United States , one of their own! The
Bible says ‘He will come from among you!’
